19 Chapter 19 ~ Taming?

Kris washed her hands than glanced into the mirror, taking a deep look at herself. She dried her hands than brushed them over her face. She hadn't changed much over the course of the years. Her hair style of course was different. But over all, she was the same person. And when Alex left so very long ago and never really told her anything, she felt like she had a knife tear through her stomach. It was the same intense hurt, pain, and anger that she felt when she put two and two together, figuring that her Alex wasn't really her Alex anymore.

Granted, she had kinda kept tabs on him over the years, watched as he morphed into The ALEX, watched as he found heart break after heart break. And that may be when she stopped watching him. Seeing him get hurt time and time again was painful to her. Above all else, she loved that man dearly. Not just in the relationship way, but he was the one person who knew every tiny detail about her. Knew about the two scars she had on her hip, knew about the sexy mole that had an unmentionable location. Knew some of her deepest, darkest fears. And to see her beloved Alex become a man that just wasn't….her beloved Alex, really hurt. So, she stopped focusing on him. Lost contact with him and Denise. And even if she wanted to, there wasn't any way that she could have contacted him again. Kris would have just seemed like every fan out there trying to get to close to their favorite star.

Than time drifted even faster as she got older. She had other relationships, yet to her, none felt right. She had a fair share of boyfriends, most who were asses and just, didn't come close to her Alex. She sighed and shook her head. No, Alex wasn't hers. Alex was Resa's now. And though Kris loved him, she wouldn't stand in their way of true happiness.

Kris tossed the paper towel away, focusing on the last lingering thought. They were happy, she had to believe that. Theresa believed in the unity of marriage, she wasn't the type to say yes without thinking about it. And Alex, Alex wanted a happy home, and he seemed to be very happy with her. Then why cheat? That was the question of the hour; that was the question that was plaguing a lot of minds today!

No, she couldn't think of that. She was going to ask Alex why, see what his answer was, and that was it. She would allow them to be happy, to get married, and to have a life together. After the damage Kris did earlier, she owed Resa that. Kris cast one last glance in the mirror, fixing her hair a little and checked herself over.

It was honestly time for her to stop comparing men to Alex. She no longer had a shot with the man she loved and she knew that. She just had to learn to accept it. Her Alex was finally happy and she had to be there for him, for them. Because Resa was happy too. She had a sparkle in her eye that hadn't been in for a long time, and Kris missed that. So, she would just…be happy, accept everything and be the maid of honor that Resa needed. And when the time came to ask for objections, she would be as mum as possible.

Of course, falling under those lines of happiness was the point that she couldn't flinch when they kissed or touched or even make a horrible face when they said I love you. She just had to grin and bear it, even if the knife in the stomach felt like it was twisting deeper and deeper. There had to be men out there who were as wonderful, no, was better than Alex. Resa thought D would be a great match for Kris, why not try those waters and see what's there. If not, Nick was always looking for a new girlfriend.

Maybe second think that one, after all, Nick was known for being more of a player than a true boyfriend. But wouldn't it be awesome if Kris was able to tame the big bad wolf that was known as Nick. Much like how Resa tamed the big bad Alex. Kris smiled at that, and then paused, frowning slowly. Resa tamed the big bad Alex? Sure didn't seem like Resa had, given that last night.

Kris opened the door, pausing at the hallway before walking back to the table. If Alex was in love with her, he wouldn't cheat right, no matter what? Did that mean that the deep love he had wasn't really there? Then why ask marriage? Because she seemed like a decent girl? Okay, maybe getting in, asking one question, and getting out, wasn't going to happen. Not now, not after thinking that. If true, stable love wasn't there, than by all means, Kris would be fighting for her beloved Alex.
