5 A Howl Through The Night

In a village, a bunch of kids could be seen running around.

"Hey Xeri, why won't you come play with us?" A kid said while running away from another. "Yeah come on Xeri let's have fun, you're always just sitting around." Another kid stated.

Xeri merely glanced at the kids before resuming what he was doing.

"Fine then don't play with us, we don't need you anyway." One of the kids said irritated by Xeri's attitude. The kids then ran off to play with the other kids.

" These kids are always annoying me, I swear they won't let me meditate in peace." Xeri thought to himself.

It's been five years since he came into this world. Just recently Xeri has been trying to gain insights into this worlds laws, more importantly he was trying to use magic but to no avail. "I've been trying to cast magic for a year now, does this world not allow the use of magic? The voice did say it was different." Xeri thought to himself.

As Xeri was lost in his thoughts, a hand landed on his shoulder. " Xeri how come you don't play with the other kids?" A voice asked him. "The other kids aren't fun brother Wuge, plus they're annoying." Xeri replied to Wuge. "I understand but at this age you should be having fun and playing with other kids, go make some friends." Wuge advised Xeri.

"Yes brother Wuge, I'll try to make some friends." Xeri said as he looked down. Wuge smiled at this motion and looked at a house not too far away. "Mom wants to see you Xeri, let's go together." Wuge motioned Xeri to follow him. Xeri got up and ran ahead of Wuge. "Heh, you have all that energy." Wuge smiled.

"Mother, I heard you wanted to see me?" Xeri asked as he walked into the house. "Yes dear please come here." A voice said towards Xeri. The young boy walked further into the house.

"I'm here mom." Xeri said with a bright smile. Zhuri was sitting at a table. "Come here son, please sit."

Xeri went and sat up on the chair with ease. " I heard some of the other parents talk about how you don't play with their kids, how come you aren't playing with them?" Zhuri asked a question.

Xeri looked awkwardly at his mother. "Ummm... well you see mother, all the kids are too annoying, all they do is run around yelling crazy things like "I"M A GREAT DRAGON" It's old and tiring." "Even so at least have some fun with them." Zhuri told Xeri. "Yes mother, I'll try." Xeri said with a smile and then tried to leave the room.

"Xeri, do you know what tomorrow is?" Zhuri asked Xeri before he was about to leave. Xeri stopped in his tracks, trying to think. "Oh is it your birthday?" He asked in a confused tone. "No it is not, It's the day your brother Wuge will go to the capital and be a soldier, also it will be his eighteenth birthday, please try to spend time with him." Xeri was surprised but then he remember, "She's right it is."

"Yes mother, I will spend time with Wuge before he leaves." Xeri then left the room and the house.

"Sometimes I wonder what that kid is thinking of." *sigh* Zhuri asked herself

"I need to get a gift for brother Wuge before he leaves tomorrow." Xeri said determined. Xeri then spent the rest of the day running around trying to find a gift for his older brother Wuge. "Oh man, Xeri better not be messing around." Wuge saw Xeri's actions and tried to stop himself from intervening.

Night came by fast, Xeri still hadn't found a gift for his brother Wuge. "I hope I can find a good gift, this village doesn't have much that can help him." Xeri thought to himself. "Wait if I can't find it here maybe I can find it in the forest, or up in the mountains?" Xeri had a crazy idea.

"I might only be five but I'm stronger then most adults considering my training everyday." Xeri smirked as he thought to himself. Everyday since Xeri could walk, he had been doing training from his old world, He would meditate and absorb the energy in the air to strengthen his body, He would also train his body so he could be agile. By doing these each day he had unknowingly reached the first layer or the Body Strengthening Stages the Muscle Strengthening stage.

"Let's go check out the forest first, since it's closer." Xeri thought to himself as he ran out of the village. As he went into the forest, he noticed many traps set by the hunters of the village. "Better avoid these, don't want to mess up the hunters." Xeri smirked and went further in the forest.

On the mountain, not far from Xeri, A purple light shone upon a certain spot. Suddenly a crack appeared, and a piercing light slashed through the space. The light was so fast that it made a screeching noise. It finally landed in the mountain and crated a crater the size of a big house.

That night within a 1000m radius of the mountain, everyone could hear a howl that made them fear.

Xeri was running but suddenly stopped. He felt a stirring in his soul, coming from the mountain, but he shook it off and continued to look for something suitable for his older brother.

In a marvelous room full of jades and antique ornaments, A young girl was meditating, " I feel like something is calling me? What could it be?" The girl questioned herself.

The village was fearful of that howl, and everyone woke up all the same. It was a sleepless night for the villagers.
