Chapter 12

A month passed and nothing much happened, Roland's Knight training saw serious improvement but that was it, he had become a Level 1 Realm Knight.

And while he still couldn't threaten a First Order Warlock, he could easily kill a Fifth Order Apprentice Warlock, because his high constitution made him, not totally but almost, immune to Level 0 Spells. Apprentice Warlocks could only cast Level 0 Spells, First Order Warlocks could cast up to Level 1 Spells, Second Order Warlocks could cast up to Level 2 Spells and so on. These were things he found out after reading through the Hildegard Royal Library, there were some books about Warlocks there.

Right now, Roland and his army were waiting on the Maas Plains, a very big plain located in the vicinity of Maas Town. Through his spy satellites, he knew the enemy army would arrive in about 3 hours. His army was composed of: 350,000 Simplified Basic Sword- and Gunbots; 40,000 Basic Sword- and Gunbots and 10,000 varied Movable Artillery, he was outnumbered five to one, but that were just numbers. His worst soldier was equivalent to a Level 3 Knight, while many of the enemy soldiers weren't even Apprentice Knights, so Roland wasn't worried about the outcome of the battle at all. To him it wasn't about winning or losing, but about how many Bots would be lost in the battle and even then: destroyed Bots could be recycled and made into new Bots.

---3 hours later, Maas Plains---

The 2 armies stood opposite each other, waiting to start the battle. The Alliance army had brought sieging equipment: a few hundred catapults and a few thousand ballistae, they might bring Roland some minor problems. The Alliance thought they would easily win the battle, they had 450,000 archers; 790,000 spearmen; 450,000 swordsmen; 250,000 cavalry; 10,000 engineers, to operate the sieging equipment, and 16,000 Knights, while their enemy only had about a fifth of their number.

After staring at each other for a few minutes, the 2 armies started to charge at each other, while the ranged units started shooting. Arrows dropped onto the Swordbots, destroying some of them, a few tens of Swordbots got destroyed in every wave of arrows. Bullets were returned, killing hundreds of the Alliance's soldiers every second. Giant rocks and bolts from sieging equipment started falling on the Bots, destroying hundreds a volley. Artillery shells and rockets were fired back, killing thousands a volley and destroying multiple catapults and ballistae. And then, the armies collided. The Alliance's soldiers tried to stop the charging Swordbots, but couldn't stop the massive and stronger Bots. The Swordbots ripped through the enemy soldiers like a knife through butter. Only the Knights could offer some resistance, albeit barely. Blood and limps were flying everywhere and once in a while some electrical components would fly by too. The corpses, on the Alliance's side, were stacking up in a frighteningly quick pace, exponentially faster than they were destroying Roland's Bots.

Roland himself was also participating in the battle, but as a sniper from 2.5km away. He was sniping the enemies commanders and their strongest Knights, with his Lenka 35mm Sniper Rifle, which could kill a Level 3 Grand Knight with a shot above the hips. He was also using poisened bullets, poisoned with a poison that could kill a Level 5 Grand Knight, just to be sure. BANG! Roland just shot another enemy commander and thought that the battle, and by extension the war, would come to an end soon. And he was right, 20 minutes later, the battle ended. From the 1,950,000 enemy soldiers, there were 185,000 left, less than 10%. All 16,000 Knights were killed in battle. On his side, 7,900 Simplified Basic Bots and 20 Basic Bots were destroyed. Roland decided to immediately press his advantage, gained from destroying the large enemy army, and sent his army out to conquer the territories of the members of the Anti-Phoenix Alliance. The orders were the same as when he conquered the Hildegard Kingdom, to kill all nobles and their families. And so his army set off.

---2 weeks later---

Roland had conquered all the Alliance's territory, except Elda Capital City. He, together with his army, were standing outside the City wall, ready to charge. They quickly slaughtered their way into the City and arrived at the Elda Royal Castle, the last resistance. Roland led the last charge personally and slashed a hole through the wall with his sword. After the wall was breached, the fate of all the people inside was sealed. His army went in and started killing all Elda Kingdom Soldiers, while Roland and some Bots went to the throne room.

Inside the throne room, Queen Emilia was sitting on her throne, her last Royal Guards standing in front of her.

"I thank you for your loyalty." she said.

"It was our honor to serve you." they answered.

At that time Roland came in with some Basic Swordbots and said "You caused this yourself, you guys attacked first."

As an answer to his accusation Emilia asked "Would you have left us alone, if we hadn't attacked?"

"No, I want to rule the entire Barren Subcontinent." Roland didn't mind telling the truth to a soon to be dead woman.

After he said that, the last fight began. Emilia's Royal Guards were almost immediately vanquished by Roland's Basic Swordbots. After her Royal Guards were eliminated, Roland drew his Vibrating Steel Longsword and rushed at Emilia. They got into an intense sword fight. Stab after stab, slash after slash and parry after parry. After a few minutes of fighting, Roland thought it was enough and disarmed Emilia. There was, after all, a big difference between the Level 5 Grand Knight Emilia and the Level 1 Realm Knight Roland. He then placed his sword against her neck, said "You lost.", swung his sword back and decapitated her. The last resistance had fallen, he was now directly in charge of 20% of the Barren Subcontinent. Roland would now develop his new territory, conquer the rest of the Subcontinent and then, finally, become a Warlock.
