4 4. A Tour of the Academy

The first floor was quite spacious and much different from the ground floor. There were three sets of double doors on the floor, and the first one lead us to a huge room with walls that had inscriptions on them, while the floor was all marble.

I tried to feel the grooves of the engraved inscriptions but an invisible force stopped me within a millimetre of touching it.

"Not even I can touch the walls here, kid," she said after she noticed what I was trying to do, "the inscriptions are a powerful magic that keeps this entire room safe incase any of the student messes up and causes a disaster. It's the same way with all the other classrooms."

"This is a classroom?" Hera asked, surprised.

"Yeah, it's my class to be specific. Magical Formations. Students of all years 1 to 9 study here, sometimes two of them together, sometimes each at a different time. Moving on..."

She then lead us to the library. There was a wide counter at the entrance, on either sides of which were two doors. One said "Texts", the other said "Archives".

"I heard the Archives hold the Spellbooks of the dead Spellcasters, is that true?" Kitt asked.

"Yes, that's the only thing you'll find in the Archives infact, and unlike the books in the Texts section, you can't borrow anything from the Archives, unless you're the Headmaster himself," explaining so she took us to the spot that had caught my attention immediately after we had entered.

There was a spot in the room where a magical circle was drawn. It had some symbols and some letters but I didn't understand any.

"Now this here, is a teleportation formation that connects all the libraries. Each library in the academy has one of these. Although you can't learn the spells from other classes, you are free to read books on them so you know what you'll be facing when you're in a duel or in a fight."

Soon we arrived in the last room. This one had one massive magical formation drawn on the floor, and there was a counter right at the entrance, although no one was in it currently.

"And this formation here is connected to multiple different places. Some of which are ordinary locations like marketplaces, and the rest are training areas for you students. Although some training areas will be forbidden for you depending on your level as a Spellcaster."

She then lead us up another flight of stairs, "Every floor really is mostly the same, just the classrooms differ slightly."

And so was the case.

The second floor was for the Summoning class, and their classroom floor had metal tiles small and big in quite a few places while the rest of the room was all marble flooring. The curious thing was that every metal tile had an S-shaped hook on them.

The Professor bent over, placed pulled up one of the metal tiles by their hook.

It was a cage and within it was a white three-headed tiger that had small sparks of lightning shooting from its body. It was asleep.

And the Professor pushed the cage back down and it seemed like a tile again.

"So every single one of those tiles hides a Spiritual Beast underneath?" Percy asked, clearly excited.

"Yup, it's pretty convenient to help you contract your very first Spiritual Beasts. Although for second years and above the purpose of these cages is to only study the creatures their Professor prepares for the lesson, since they'll be catching their own Spiritual Beasts," she replied.

And every classroom was indeed a bit different.

By the time we were done, it was already afternoon and we were asked to head to our dorms.

"Whenever I'm not available, you guys can ask Selene any questions you have," saying so the Professor departed.

The other two buildings of the academy turned out to be the dorms. The one to the left of the main building was for the students, and the one on the right was for the Headmaster and the teaching staff.

Surprisingly in this world, they didn't really care about separating boys and girls. The students' dorm had 9 floors, if you excluded the ground floor, which really had no purpose.

The 9 floors were divided as per the nine years of academic study, from what Serene told us.

We 5 were all first years, so we were on the same floor. The rooms of the boys were separated from the rooms of the girls by only the hallway.

And I didn't mind that. This just meant I had easy access to more rooms I could steal from.
