Prologue

"Why am I seeing you at this hour?"

A tall handsome teenager suddenly blocked his sister's path towards the kitchen during dinner time in an aggressive manner. Their parents were at the dining table not far away from them and there were maids around serving the family, but no one stood up for the sister.

"I wanted to get some food," the sister mumbled, slowly edging away from her brother.

"If you want some food, then go find it after we have dinner in the trash can. Don't you know that seeing you spoils everyone's appetite?" The brother grabbed his sister and dragged her towards the door of the house.

"Dad, Mum, I am going to throw the trash." The brother shouted before dragging the sister out of the house, towards the garbage area.

"Be quick so that the dinner doesn't get cold," his mother calls after him.

"Stop, please. Forgive me, I won't step out of my room from now on. Please," the sister begged but the brother got more agitated at the sound of her voice. Throwing her to the ground, he beat and kicked her till he vented his frustration before he suddenly had a brilliant idea.

He went to one of the big trash cans and opened the lid before throwing his sister into it. There were bags of trash inside the big trash can that is awaiting the cleaners the next morning. When the sister fell into it, her weight opened some of the neatly tied bags and she was immediately buried by all the dirty rubbish.

"Suits you, maybe I should tell Mum to shift your room into a trash can. Don't show your face around me next time."

After throwing these words, he went back into the house and left his sister in the trash can.

She cannot remember when was the last time she has eaten anything since accidentally angering her mother by cleaning the windows when her guests arrived. It was unsightly as her mother ordered the maids to confine her in the attic for a few days to reflect on her mistakes. After being confined in such a dark place with no windows to tell what time of the day it is, she was finally released and wanted to get some food but did not expect to interrupt her family's dinner time.

This was not the first time she was being treated like this. It can be said that she is used to it and nothing she does can ever change her situation. Her family favors sons over daughters for some reason that she cannot understand. She can only lament her tragic fate and struggle to survive.

The young girl of age 15, tries to stand up from the bags of trash but fails. After a few more tries, she gives up and heaved a sigh. Maybe a servant will walk by, take pity on her and help her back to her room.

The young girl laughed at her own thoughts. There is nobody in this house that would pity her. Heaving another sigh, the young girl suddenly saw something white falling from the sky. Raising her small and feeble hand, she saw that it was snow as it fluttered down as though it has wings and melt into liquid the moment it touches her hand.

How beautiful.

It would be nice to fall asleep as it is.

The young girl was feeling quite sleepy as well so might as well.

And so, the young girl fell asleep, in the trash can, in the snow.

And never woke up.
