Chapter 1: General pov
*tap tap tap tap*
"Well fuck me sideways, how fucking long have I waited in this queue for now, it feels like it's been an eternity"
The impatient soul was currently tapping his foot on the floor of the famed reincarnation highway line where souls that were killed by the all-powerful truck-kun were taken and given a new life. Except for one thing
"WHY THE FUCK DID TRUCK KUN KILL ME! I mean come on, I had a great job, I worked out a lot, and sure I watched anime but I didn't revolve my life around it I just enjoyed the art form! But no, Truck Kun just had to kill me because I ran across the road to get to the meeting I was late for…*Sigh* well, I can't do anything about it now, better just nut up and shut up"
"Amen to that kid"
The soul's eyes shot up and he saw an angel looking right at him with a smile that seemed to light up the room. The soul looked around dazed making the angel chuckle and say,
"To maximise the efficiency of our reincarnation line crowd we manipulate your senses to speed through the line as quick as we can"
"Yeah, I guess that makes sense…euhm what uh what happens next?"
The Angel, almost as if it understood everything the soul has or would do, gave a smile and said
"Well with the involvement of modern technology in the Reincarnation center the process has gotten very simple. You place your dominant hand on the palm scanner right in front of you…"
The soul looked down and saw a big metal cube with an outline of a handprint on it, he then looked up at the angel who smiled before continuing to talk.
"...and once you do that, the scanner will read everything about you before giving you your powers for your next life, which will entirely depend on who you are as a person. It will give you a random character to look like in the next life, and it will give you the next world that you will live in. Now, please place your palm on the scanner to get started"
The soul, with only slight hesitation, placed his palm on the scanner. The cool metal surface made him get a shiver up his spectral spine, but he ignored it in favour of the green light that was now glowing from the scanner.
All of a sudden a big blue holographic screen popped out from the cube and it said
[The scanner has declared that these are the gifts for the user: 18248422957355483910483…
Power: The Gamblers Dream (or Nightmare) The Gacha system!
Looks: Anduin Wrynn! (only looks not powers)
World: DC universes]
"Wait, how does the scanner know I had a gambling addiction!?"
The angel only smirked slightly before saying.
"Well, heaven has its ways. Have a pleasant journey to your new life as Mr Edward Kingsly"
The angel then pulled a lever next to it which caused a black hole to open below the soul, causing it to get sucked away and shot through the time-space continuum and into his new body.
—--------------------------------------
"wwaaaaaaAAAHHHH"
*Smack*
*groan*
Due to the shock of being transported into a new body, Edward Shot out of the bed he was in only for gravity to remind him of his place and make him smack hard against the floor. Edward quickly shot up on his feet and looked around while taking many sharp breaths. What he was was not great, he or at least the body that he now inhabited was a shitty and quite dirty studio apartment. Ed quickly spotted a mirror on the wall and ran over there to scope out his new body. And what he saw shocked him
"Holy crap I'm Handsome!!"
With shining golden locks that flowed down to his ears and piercing bright blue eyes that seemed to shine no matter the situation. He was tall, around 6'2-6'3 feet tall, and had a build that was lean but built at the same time. He was definitely a heartthrob and according to the memories that he had received when he was in the blackhole he was only 15 years old. As he was sifting through his memories he was distracted by
[DING]
He instinctively jumped back when the blue screen popped up in his field of vision, he then quickly started to read what was said on the screen.

Edward Pov
I smiled and quickly though
'Let's spin it to win it…'
As the glowing cards appeared in my vision a smile appeared on my face and my heart started to pump. The cards exploded and the screen once again appeared in my vision.
[Congrats on your first spin! Here's the results
1x 250 dollars in 50's
1x Skill: Apollo's singing voice and musical talents

1x a crisp 100 dollar bill
1x endurance booster
1x potion of speed (1:00)
1x: the big book of Taekwondo knowledge]
"Huh, I mean it's not…great, but it's definitely not terrible"
I then felt my head pulse a bit as knowledge of a lot of Taekwondo was implanted into my head. I quickly shook my head as the pulse settled down before I quickly sifted through the first pages at a dizzying pace before I stopped as I realised something about what I just read. I gave myself a sympathetic smile as I thought.
'Looks like his reading ability also came with his eidetic memory!'
I then stood up and went over to my bedside table to find my wallet as I wanted some information about myself. I went through my cards and saw that I had a student card to Gotham Academy, which according to my memories would be starting up again soon, and that I was a scholarship student as I got exceptional grades in my previous public school and all of the teachers recommended me to the director of Gotham academy.
Shifting through my wallet some more I found out one thing…I'm broke, no broke is putting it lightly, what I mean is that a homeless person has more money than me… and since I need money to be able to spin, I need to get a job. I quickly started thinking of some options, when my mind went to my new singing skill.
'I could get a job at one of the classier lounges/bars here as a singer, I mean with the singing skill of a god of singing, I should be pretty desirable and since this is Gotham my age won't be a problem'
I quickly thought about it some more and decided that this would be the best course of action. So with my next course of action, I quickly put on what looked like my only pair of clean clothes, which was just jeans and a black sweater, and headed out the door.

Walking down the street the people couldn't help but glance up, something that you learned from a young age that you shouldn't do in Gotham, but the pure beauty of the man walking past them made them unable to tear their eyes away. The man was tall, had hair of gold and lapis for eyes. He just looked like he didn't belong in Gotham, and the citizens knew it. The man, however, ignored all the looks as he walked around, with his head held high but a distant look on his face, almost as if he was thinking about something.

'I think my best bet, and my greatest risk, would be to go to the Iceberg lounge that the Penguin owns. He'll be able to pay me the most, I would probably be protected by him since I would be drawing in customers, and my only risk would be my death…fuuuuuckkkk. But yea, this has to be my best option, at least until I get some better spin results'
I walked, with purpose, the navigation to the Iceberg lounge playing through my headphones. After a couple of minutes of walking, I stood in front of a club with a sign that said 'Iceberg lounge' and had a photo of a penguin on top of it. I saw that two guards were standing by the door, and even though my nerves were quite high at the moment I decided to, as Deadpool would say, go full maximum effort and just take a shot at this.
*Sharp exhale*
I walked to the two guards, they were both big big men each somehow competing with the other one on who could be scarier, even if they were wearing a three-piece suit. One of them tilted down his sunglasses and said
"What'd Ya want kid? Go back home to your mamma this place ain't for a brat like you"
I swallowed some saliva before saying.
"I want to talk to your boss about getting a job as a singer here"
The two guys looked at one another before both of them laughed. The guy who spoke to me previously finished laughing and said
"Aight, kid ya know what, since ya made me laugh I won't snap both of your legs in half, but I think you should get out of here now, and I won't tell ya again"
However, I wasn't going to back down too quickly, so I took a deep breath to make myself stand taller. I then squared my shoulders and said
"Tell your boss that I can give him a performance that would make him feel like no one other than me could deserve the honour of being called a musician"
The bouncer was about to say something before he put a finger by his earpiece, his face scrunching into something sour. He then cleared his throat and opened the door for me before he said
"Mr Cobblepot is waiting for you on the lounge floor, he left a message for you…you better impress him"
I nodded before the entire lion's den…well, more like the Penguin's den hahaha.
After walking up some stairs I saw a wide open space, with a bar on the left, a large dance floor in the middle and a semi-large stage right in front of me, in the back of the room. I stood still before the clicking of a lighter caught my attention I looked around and spotted a cigar light in the shadows of the seating area, I gulped hard and said
"Mr. Cobblepot, thank you for this opportunity-"
I was then interrupted when he told me.
"Get on the stage kid, let's see if you got some bite to match your bark"
I nodded tensely before walking onto the stage and standing in front of the microphone. I then cleared my throat, which echoed throughout the room due to the microphone. I gave a soft smile as I asked.
"So, what song do you want to hear?"
There was a brief pause before the Penguin spoke again and he said
"I want you to play 'Unchain My Heart' by Ray Charles"
"I can do that sir, just wait a moment"
I then pulled out my phone and, with unprecedented speed, I read through the lyrics, and even had a short listening session just to hear how Ray had sung the song. I then looked back up and asked.
"Umm, will there be a backing track of the instrumental or…"
There was a silence before two claps echoed from the shadow, and almost as if on cue a small band appeared from behind the curtains and set themselves up, along with the two backup singers. I waited until they were ready before cracking my neck, taking a deep breath and giving a nod to the band behind me, and with that, the music came blasting out and I was, almost transported to another state of mind.
{AN: I'd recommend listening to the song while reading this, not just cause its a great song but also cause it makes it feel a bit more realistic}
General Pov
*Music starts to play*
Unchain my heart (Unchain my heart)
Baby, let me be (Unchain my heart)
Unchain my heart (Unchain my heart)
'Cause you don't care about me (Unchain my heart)
You've got me sewed up like a pillowcase.
But you let my love go to waste.
So unchain my heart, oh, please, please set me free.
Unchain my heart (Unchain my heart)
Baby, let me go (Unchain my heart)
Unchain my heart (Unchain my heart)
'Cause you don't love me no more (Unchain my heart)
Every time I call you on the phone
Some fella tells me that you're not at home
So unchain my heart, oh, please, please set me free
As Ed started to sing, Oswald Cobblepot couldn't believe his ears. This song, although not one of his favourites, was still great and he had heard it gladly many times. Yet this boy, who Oswald hadn't expected a lot from was now singing it better than even Ray Charles could. This kid's voice was, well angelic in nature, smooth like silk and three times as soft. It stirred something deep within Oswald, something he hadn't felt in a long time. This kid had, probably, the best singing voice he had ever heard but that wasn't even the best part, no… the best part was that this kid could learn any song on the fly, Oswald wasn't an idiot, he knew what the kid was doing before he asked for the band to come out, he was learning the song.
I'm under your spell (I'm under your spell)
Like a man in a trance (Like a man in a trance)
But I know darn well (But I know darn well)
That I don't stand a chance (That I don't stand a chance)
So unchain my heart (Unchain my heart)
Let me go my way (Unchain my heart)
Unchain my heart (Unchain my heart)
You worry me night and day (Unchain my heart)
Why lead me through a life of misery
When you don't care about no piece of me?
So unchain my heart, oh, please, please set me free
This kid's musical talent was out of this world, and Oswald knew he couldn't let anyone else have this kid, as he would become an attraction that would bring customers in from wide and far. A maniacal grin appeared on Oswald's face as he stepped onto the dance floor from the shadows, his leg tapping against the floor in excitement. The song ended and Edward took a couple of breaths before a smile on his face appeared and he asked.
"What did you think about the performance, Mr.Cobblepot?"
"I think we need to discuss a contract, but first what is your name?"
"Kingsly, Edward Kingsly"
