4 La la la la la

There was a strange attracting force that pulled Beatrix to the right which came from one of her passive abilities.

Supernatural Detection, Death Sense and Herb Detection were the three detection abilities that had detected around her within a certain range or were pulling her towards a larger attractive force that was related to one of the three.

It was weaker towards the left side compared to the right so Beatrix was torn between the two. 'Hah.. just be careful then.'

She had made up her mind and turned right but had followed the road a little further on the roadside.

It allowed her to not get caught up too much with the things that were ongoing on the road and provided enough distance that could allow her to run in another direction if she felt that she could be in danger.

Beatrix needed to get used to her new abilities and understand how they worked so it was a learning experience for her.

Each time that she had come across a herb along the way, Beatrix had stopped to harvest it so her proficiency was rising one point at a time.

Any successful attempts to harvest had helped her to gain the rewarded experience points and the herbs that could possibly be sold at a later date.

Her feet had stopped all of a sudden but she was still in the middle of nowhere with nobody around her.

In front of her was nothing that stood out too much besides a pile of dirt, nobody would have noticed its strangeness when passing by but Beatrix did.

One of the attracting forces that were detected by her came from the location in front of her eyes. "There is no herb… nothing else looks too unusual but there is a strange presence here."

It did not feel like a living presence but was instead like an invisible force that lingered around the area of dirt.

Beatrix decided to put her guess towards what it was to the test. "Aaah.. oo.. aaa…uuu"

After opening her mouth to voice several different tones like she was testing her own voice and her bodies range of singing abilities, Beatrix was impressed that a dead body had such a clear voice that many professional singers would kill for.

Unfortunately Beatrix was not someone who had experience with singing besides singing in the shower or to the music she was listening to on her own so a lot of her tests sounded a little clumsy and amateurish. "Ahem.."

Once she was done testing, Beatrix had activated one of her abilities and started to sing on the side of the road while nobody was around. "Aaaah.. wait what do I even sing!? Just go with that? Okay! Ahem!"

It felt a little silly to suddenly sing to a pile of dirt in the middle of nowhere so it took some attempts and pondering over what to do before the words had left her mouth.

There was no music or instruments accompanying her so she had to work without anything else and the skill itself did not trigger unless she began singing.

"All our times have come

Here but now they're gone

Seasons don't fear the reaper

Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain

We can be like they are

Come on, baby (don't fear the reaper)

Baby, take my hand (don't fear the reaper)

We'll be able to fly (don't fear the reaper)

Baby, I'm your man

La, la, la, la, la

La, la, la, la, la…"

If she was going to sing a song that was using her Death Song ability then she felt that it was more appropriate to use a sing that was related to death, grief or was suitable for a funeral.

She had heard the same song played many times at family funerals and other occasions so it was one that had remained in her mind due to it being more catchy and memorable than the others.

The voice of Beatrix was gentle and soothing with every word that was sung by her and it seemed to affect her surroundings.

The strange presence around her was gradually fading away like a lingering ghost had been soothed by her song and no longer lingered in the world.

A notification popped up right away once it had been completed and she no longer felt the need to continue singing. 'This kind of voice could earn a lot of money but there is something more important that has been discovered from this..'

[The soul of the dead has been soothed and has passed on with your help. 50 XP has been rewarded]

Her eyes went wide upon seeing the amount of experience points that had popped up all of a sudden.

It meant that the person that she had sent off had a stronger soul than others due to their past status from when they were living so the reward given had allowed her to level up.

The main issue was that a dead body had been confirmed to be buried in front of her in the middle of nowhere and it was likely that it was not the only one that could be found along her travels.

It was either a secluded place to bury bodies that could not be found or it could possibly be a danger area where people were killed.

The soul or spirit of a person was tied to and would linger around their dead body for a long time in some scenarios and it was the case for the game where the spirits of the mobs would grant experience for each spirit she allowed to pass on.

It was different for players who spawned in resurrection points but there was still a link to their body and so long as they made it back, they could resurrect themselves there but her song would remove that opportunity and make them have to go to a resurrection point again.

If that was the case in reality then the soul of the person was still linked to the body in some way and it would continue that way until certain conditions were met like the body being in too poor of a condition being one of them.

It meant that so long as the body had not completely decomposed, there was still a chance for Beatrix to be able to use of Death Song to gain some experience points.

If she had went to a grave yard of some kind then that would be a large amount if experience that could possibly be gained but she had to settle for what was attracting her in the present that she would come across.

If there existed dead bodies that were buried in such places then it was a confirmation that the world she was in could be dangerous so there was a need for her to increase her own power quickly.

There had not been a drastic increase in her level and abilities but one level was still some progress that had been made from beginning to get more successful attempts on gathering herbs and the experience gained from the use of Death Song.

Her herbalism was easy to raise since she could just pick any herb that she came across that was within the range of her ability to gather and even if she failed to do so, she would still gain a proficiency point.

Cooking required actual ingredients and a fire to cook them on so there was a need for her to hunt or gather the needed ingredients while gathering some flammable wood.

First aid required cloth materials to make bandages but she did not feel like using anything that was on her body that pass off as substitutes to allow the growth of a couple of points of proficiency.

Fishing required a fishing rod or net unless she was prepared to fish using her own hands so that could not be improved anytime soon but once she did get the opportunity, any catches could be put towards improving her cooking.

Beatrix continued forward but it was not too long before she had come across another strange presence that was further down the road. "Ahem.."
