5 Chapter 4: A New Beginning (part 4)

"DO NOT! AND I MEAN DO NOT HANG AROUND WITH THAT AKAMINE KID EVER AGAIN. Am I clear you two?"

"But, why father?" Yuki questioned as he was holding the shaking hand of Chieko who was scared. Yuki knows that everything in this world has a reason and that his father taught him to always question those he doesn't understand.

The father bit his lips, knelt to the ground, and hugged the two of his kids, and whispered to their ears. "Your mother died by the hands of his parents, he's now a son of murderers."

These words caused the whole world of Chieko and Yuki to break, their best friend a son of murderers, and the one they murdered was Yuki's and Chieko's mother.

Yuki felt something, no someone was poking his cheek. He slowly opened his eyes and saw Chieko with a worried face.

"Hey, Yuki you seem to be having nightmares."

"Don't worry about it. It's time for us to go, no?" Yuki smiled to reassure Chieko but she still has a worried expression then she said.

"It's about the day our mom was found dead wasn't it?"

Yuki's face paled and he nodded.

"Do you think he had forgiven us?"

"He probably hasn't," Yuki answered her quickly and as blunt as he could, he resented Rai even to this day, but he dare not show it to Chieko.

Midori went up to the twins and said.

"Hey, Chieko and Yuki-san it's time to go."

"Sure thing, Midori-chi."

Chieko hugged Midori by the arm and began walking, followed by Yuki as they left a destroyed orc village.

I looked at how many days were left until this tutorial was over. It's 3 days remaining. After that, I went to the library with Zei in order to get more information about this world, especially about these <gods>. Zei then went up to me and said.

"Well, at least we know they're like the ones in our world."

"Yeah, especially that guy Volin. He had, if I remember correctly, Camulos a <god> that came from the ancient Celtic pantheon."

"Yes, you are correct, and it seems like, we can safely assume that other <gods> from other pantheons are present as well."

"There are two things apparently so that you can turn into a <god>, first is that they are born as one, or second is that you need your abilities to be recognized or acknowledge by the <gods> to become a <god>, meaning anyone can become one."

Both of us are immersed in the books we were reading until commotions can be heard outside.

"The <heroes> have returned!"

They were all cheering for the class prez party's return, but when we returned after fighting the dragon, they were nowhere to be found. I looked outside and saw them. They were still complete, I thought by this time the class will be reduced up to at least half, but it looks like they exceeded my expectations. Well, they did have Midori who has skills that could handle a crowd, not to mention Yuki and Chieko. *rumble* I heard a rumbling stomach, I looked at Zei then she stood up and suggested with a red face. "W-why don't we take a break and eat?"

"Sure, how about in the place where we ate before?"

Her eyes shined and she nodded vigorously and said. "I'll be going first, to order what we ordered last time then."

I nodded. I looked at the table where she left a lot of books, I sighed and began picking up all the books that she left on the table, I put all of them back into their respective shelves. As I was about to leave a woman wearing a cloak bumped into me and dropped a book. "Oh, sorry about that Ms." I saw the title of the book. "September, Fire"

I picked it up and handed it over to her.

[Thank you, oh little lamb, hear me, you must choose carefully on the selection if not, you might make more enemies than allies.]

she chuckled and walked past by me, my body couldn't move as I heard her voice, I looked back and saw she's gone now my body began moving again, the only thing that was left is a feather on the floor, I picked it up and put it in my pocket. I looked around the library to see if she was still there, but she was gone.

"Sorry for the wait... Zei."

I saw Chieko and Yuki's group across the room and Zei pulled me by the ear to my seat and then we began eating.

After eating I told Zei why was I late.

"Ah, that must be the Archangel Uriel. I know them because of the book you mentioned. September the month of her feast day, and fire the element she uses to burn her enemies to ashes, also you should take an angel's warning seriously."

"I know, and we need to get out now."

I was about to stand up, but a man wearing our uniform, pat me on the shoulders and pushing me down back to my seat, his hair is brown and his eyes are green.

"Hey, there little Rai." It was Ryoto Bushida your classic high school bully, he even brought his friends with him.

"Let go of me Ryoto, this is not a place to do this. This is a place to eat."

I glared at Ryoto and his gang, Zei on the other hand is holding her staff preparing some spells then.

"Hey! Bitch what're you trying to do eh?!" One of them noticed Zei and slapped her, causing her to lose concentration, interrupting her casting, he even stole her staff.

I tried to grab my sword but it's gone. Ryoto has already grabbed it and checked the blade out. He was shocked to see the details on the blade and said.

"Hey, it's pretty good." He smirked and pointed the blade at my neck.

[Some <gods> wants you to punish Ryoto's group.]

Zei then said. "Are you all fucking stupid or retarded? Maybe both!"

"Huh, what did you say bitch?!"

A guy from his group tried to slap Zei again, but a barrier of ice formed and blocked it she stood up and spoke.

"A staff is needed so that they can use it to conduct and control mana more easily, it is not necessary to use the staff."

She pointed at Ryoto and a lightning bolt blasted out from the tip of the finger. But Ryoto reacted right on time blocked it using his shield.

All of them stood back and were about to attack, but then the teacher showed up to stop them. "Enough of this nonsense!"

"Uh yes sir."

When he showed up the teacher immediately controlled the bully, so this is the man that Chieko and Yuki are fighting over leadership.

"But, can I keep the sword teach?"

"Of course you can, he doesn't even look after it."

"How about this staff?."

"The staff... give it back they'll need it."

They went back to their tables, and that bully eyed me and it's obvious that they're gonna try to attack us later. I stood up and grabbed Zei by the hand and went out of the restaurant.

"Wait, how about your sword."

"Don't worry I can do something about it."

I focused and imagined the sword electrifying the surrounding 20-feet radius, then a large blast of light appeared inside the restaurant, then I summoned back my sword to my hand.

"Come on, let's go to the guild master before they come out to catch us."

She sighed and followed me to the guild.

After we reached the guild master we told her what happened. She burst out laughing and then the doors opened Chieko, Yuki, Midori, and the teacher whose face was scorched entered the room. The teacher looked at me pissed off and Chieko was the giggling cause of what happened. The guild master looked at Yuki and said.

"So have you come here to take another quest? If so, you do know that you only need to complete one right?"

"Yes, I know it said we only need to complete one but, this is the tutorial, we must be ready at all cost to prepare for after the tutorial."

"What you said is correct, but it looks like not everyone wants to go." The guild master looked at the teacher then he said

"I and some students don't want to participate in the next quest."

"Why is that sir?" Midori asked the teacher

"Well, first all the students are tired from doing quests all day long from the moment we got here, that's the only thing we're doing, we are still human we still need rest."

"Well, you are right, what do you say we do Yuki?" Chieko asked Yuki.

"Well, let's all take a rest for the day then, after that, anyone can do whatever they want for the rest of the remaining days."

With that declaration the guild master smiled, Yuki and the teacher exited, Midori looked at us and waved goodbye then Chieko looked at me then winked and went off to follow Yuki.

"So it looks like that young huntress is interested in you <Judge>." The guild master giggled.

Time passed, Zei went with the guild master to her library to study the history of 'Terra' this world, while I went back to my room. I looked at the feather and mumbled to myself "looks like I'll be using and relying on [Foresight] more than I thought."

I used [Foresight] and saw myself fighting in an arena against Ryoto.

[Some <gods> are interested in your premonition.]

[Many <gods> have placed a bet on 'Ryoto' that he will win.]

I woke up in the middle of the night and went to the arena so that I could train my magic. "First things first," I said that while stretching, I stretched out my hand and created [firefly] as much as I can, I was only able to make twenty, then I focused on one to explode and it caused a brilliant flash of light. It worked I shall name this skill [Flash Grenade], I then switched off all the [fireflies] and focused on the darkness. I imagined dark smoke rising from my hands and not to my surprise it worked but I'm not done, I condensed all the smoke then burst it, it covered the whole arena which the whole area is 50 meters I smirked and said "I'll call this [Smoke Bomb.]"

"That's pretty impressive Rai."

I looked back to that familiar voice it was Chieko. I was surprised that she was there.

She was still wearing her uniform that is slightly torn and she's wearing leather bracers and greaves she also has a leather breastplate only covering her left side of the chest. She covered her skirt and said, "you pervert, eying me like that."

"What are you even doing here late at night Chieko?"

"I should be asking the same thing."

"..." I kept silent, I think she already knew why so I didn't bother answering her.

"Fine, I'll tell you." As she said that she walked closer.

"Ryoto has challenged you to a duel, cause of what you did back in the restaurant, and he also wants your sword, so whoever wins will have the rights for the ownership of the sword."

I have no reason to accept it, but I'm sure he'll keep challenging me, or he'll ambush me one day. So I thought that it's best to accept it.

"Heh. Tell him that I'll accept it."

"I'm surprised that you accepted it. Even though I already knew you will!" She said with a dumbfounded expression she started walking back and said

"good night and good luck for tomorrow's match." She left out a giggle. I practiced for one more hour before heading back to bed. When I entered the room I saw Zei asleep on her bed as I looked closely at her face I thought to myself 'she's pretty cute actually' I then went to my bed to sleep. Later will be my first official duel.

I was woken up by Zei. "Hey, wake up, let's go get breakfast." I yawned as I stood up and stretched I grabbed my stuff. And said.

"after eating, let's go to the arena to train."

"I already know your gonna fight with Ryoto."

"Huh, how did you know?"

"Midori said it to me that you have a fight with Ryoto."

I sighed and went ahead of Zei to eat breakfast. After eating I was greeted by Ryoto's pals and they led me to the arena.

"Heh, your gonna get killed today Akamine-san."

"Hey, how much did you bet on Ryoto?"

"Oh, you know? 1000 gold coins."

"You better lose Akamine-san or else."

I can hear them, is he that strong, the difference in our stats is like Night and Day, but I can more or less defeat him. I saw him wearing a full metal plate armor and with a shield, it's an S rank item I see.

This shield can absorb all the attacks that it blocks. Immune to fire and ice elements.

I looked at him but not long enough he noticed me and looked back at me. Suddenly Chieko went inside the arena.

"Okay, boys you both have a clean fight just kidding, this fight is a no holds barred match! No rules. But you can't kill the other contestant! Are we clear on that, if so let the match begin!" she jumped back onto the spectator area.

Ryoto looked at me and readied his sword and shield, I readied my sword as well and I waited for him to charge.

"Raaaaaggghhh!"

He charged in with a battle cry, in response I charged as well, his shield met my blade. I was thrown off to the sides because his strength far outmatches mine, I quickly regained my balance. He was charging at me once more, but I have a plan I used [Flash Bang] to blind him. The light covered the entirety of the arena. I also got blinded, but only for a little bit, I tried attacking him but he kept swinging at random hoping he could hit me, I snuck up behind him and slashed at his back. He groaned in pain as my blade slashed him, he then turned around also slashing me but my armor absorbed the damage, but the force was strong enough to break one of my ribs, I also got launched onto the wall breaking my left arm.

His sight returned and Ryoto said, "you sly bastard, I'm going to enjoy slicing you to pieces." As he said that he was licking his blade, when he was in front of me I used [Smoke Bomb] also covering the entire arena in an instant. "Can't find me now can you?"

He looked around but all he can see is smoke, I started slashing him by the legs and arms, but not completely cutting them off, he screamed in pain, but the smoke is now clearing he saw me raising my sword into the sky and lightning was striking the sword, he held his blade in position to unleash [Crescent Moon Slash]. At the same time, we attacked each other, and an explosion occurred the audience held their breaths as to who won, after the dust was settled they saw me standing and Ryoto collapsed onto the ground.

"No way that's bullshit, he must have cheated!" The man who betted for Ryoto complained and shouted trying to instigate the crowd.

Chieko glared at him, she sighed and said.

"Remember no rules, and to those who lost the bet go to Yuki to pay up!"

Chieko was giggling it looks like she won. Then Zei went down to the arena with Midori.

"Rai! Are you okay?" Zei shouted worriedly.

"Well, I broke some of my ribs, I got slashed on the chest, guess I'm okay."

"Since you're joking like that Akamine-san, it looks like you don't need healing."

I coughed some blood and said "sorry, sorry. I do need some healing so please help m-." Due to a lot of blood loss, I passed out. I saw some messages when I was unconscious.

[Some <gods> are furious about your victory.]

[Some <gods> congratulate you on your victory.]

Well, it looks like the ones angry are the ones who lost the bet and vice versa.

I woke up and stood up from the bed I looked at the mission log. Well shit, it looks like I was asleep for three days.
