4 04. Elder Min

It's a parallel universe where Europeans were conquered by the Roman Empire and still are. African tribes gathered together under one King and kicked the Roman Empire out of Africa.

Russian Empire and Meng Empire stopped the Roman Empire from spreading towards Asia. Atlantis still exists and it's actually a continent. North and South America is under their protection and they invented fast ships to trade with all Empires.

Australia became forbidden land after they tried multiple times docking there. Dangerous under streams made it hard for boats to get closer and many ships went onto the ground because of invisible sharp stones.

New Zeeland was ruled by a wise King that chose to sign an agreement with Atlantis, so his country was left just as it is. So on the Asian continent, there are three Emperors.

Russian Empire, Meng Empire and Rani Empire.

The Emperor of the Meng Empire was a wise man and the Empire lived as calmly as possible. Of course, inner turmoils and wars were always possible. But they never lasted long.

Now the Emperor let women into government as well as he saw good potential. But, this will be the first time. So she planned to listen to the old woman's words.

Learn good, be mediocre. If she pushes herself to high up, without backing, she might as well die too early.

Lee Mei Li sighed. Actually, this girl had quite a good brain and was extremely talented. She could learn even by reading it once.

But the internal fights in the royal house are not something she wants to be involved with. She just wanted to work as a simple scribe, just like her uncle. The money will be little, but good enough for her living alone. On the other hand, she saw the potential for additional earning in this region.

She must speak to them about it when she comes home.

While walking through the village, she realized it was not that small as it seemed in the first moment. It took then a whole two hours to show her village and on the end, they brought her to the biggest house in the village.

With shiny eyes, they stared at the big yard and house while Lee Mei Li was unimpressed. Even tho the house was big, it was a mess. The walls were not painted, the roof saw better days and the yard looked like there was a typhoon inside of it.

Literally a mess. A bunch of children argued in corner of the yard who will get the fruit to eat and ignored tired looking woman sat there and rubbed her temples.

Chen Mingli and Chen Delun his behind her and whispered. "That is Elder Min. Be careful..."

She patted their heads and smiled. "Don't worry. Big sister will be just fine."

With respect, she bowed to the woman. "My name is Lee Mei Li. My Uncle and aunt sent me here to learn the rules of the village."

The woman slowly opened her eyes and with a frown looked at the thin girl in front of her. Round face, tiny frame, long black hair, big eyes, small nose, big lips. Lee Mei Li would be considered a beauty in her world, but here she was considered almost ugly.

The women were pretty if they had some meat on their bones and her tiny stature made her look sickly in their eyes.

"Too bad you are so thin, or I'd ask you for a favor." Elder Min stood up and suddenly fainted.
