20 Matthews vs Matthews Pt 2

"True friends don't judge each other. They judge other people together."

Come to HQ. We've got something amazing planned.

-J.Harrington.

"What are you reading?" Elena asked, trying to see the text message from over my shoulder.

Ï quickly turned my cell phone off. "Nothing interesting. Just a text."

"What text?" She asked without missing a beat.

"Text from a friend."

"What friend?"

"Stop being nosy."

"Tell me! You're hiding something!" She whined.

"I'll tell you at the right time." I paused, sneaking a glance at the still-arguing couple. "Not right now."

"You owe me an explanation."

I sighed. "I owe you a lot of things."

"Yeah, and I'm adding this to the list."

I raised an eyebrow. "You have a list?"

She shrugged. "Yeah, like a bunch of papers stapled together on my table."

I shook my head in disbelief. "Sometimes, I really doubt who is older between us."

She smirked. "Definitely me. But I am stuck in a 10-year-old girl's body."

"Yeah, I agree."

"How long are they going to argue?" Elena whispered. "It's been forever seen we are standing here."

"I bet they won't realize if she sneaked out."

She gave me a knowing look.

"No. We are not sneaking out."

She huffed. "You're no fun."

yeah, right.

"God I'm exhausted!" Elena exclaimed.

"Me too."

After what felt like hours, another text popped into my cell phone.

You coming?

-A.Snow

I quickly typed in a 'yeah' before handling the matter in hand. Apparently, our parents had a lot of issues to deal with - starting with father's affair (I'd rather not go into details) with his personal assistant and mother living in a delusion that father loved her. Nowhere in the conversation were we once mentioned. The whole 'we want to take over your lives' conversation turned into family drama instead.

I wish I could just get out of here and take a breath, but I couldn't leave Elena alone with the wolves. It was far too dangerous. I'd rather stay here and accompany her.

"Enough!" Father yelled. His entire body had worn out. He had lost a lot of energy and was in a dire need of a refill. Mother, on the other hand, couldn't stop the tears from spilling out of her eyes. Who knew, this would happen?

If Elena hadn't revolted, things might've turned differently.

"What have you two decided?" Elena asked, suppressing a yawn.

Mother was too shocked to even utter a word so the honors went to Father.

He took a deep breath. "We're having a divorce."

What?
