28 Epilogue

"And that kids....is how I met my friends." I smiled.

The students clapped and Alex and I bowed in front of the them. It felt so good to narrate them the story and luckily I wasn't the only one sharing the story. Although, I was the one narrating, Alex included her point of view sometimes.

It is hard to remember the people we used to be before we met each other.

And now, looking back, we barely recognised ourselves.

Wow.

The changes that came with having best friends.

"So, kids, now that you learned about our high school story- it's time to make yours and we will not be any kind of obstacle in that!" The students burst out laughing at Alex's comment.

The bell rung and it was time for the next class. We bade our farewells for the day and then walked out of the class to catch up. It was a surprise that Alex showed up- trust me when I say this- she was the last person I expected to show up. I called the others to celebrate my first day as a 'teacher' but well...

They didn't show up.

Once we walked out of the classroom, we made a beeline towards the teacher's lounge. Alex slumped on the couch and stretched her arms while letting out a yawn. There was still ten minutes left before the other teachers showed up and I was free for the next period so we had enough time to catch up.

Whether it was here or somewhere else.

I crossed my arms and glared at her. "Where are the others?"

She raised an eyebrow. "You ain't happy to see me?"

"I asked the others to be here too. It was your responsibility to bring them here." I snapped.

She shrugged. "Nah, I'm glad only I showed up."

"Alex...." I drawled.

"Jake...." She drawled, too.

"Just answer the question!"

"Well now, as we speak, Candy is on an undercover mission, Malai is signing books in a bookstore, Emmy is experimenting on some chemicals,

Jelly is preparing for the basketball match against some team- I don't remember the name. Finally,

I am here and so are you- a teacher."

"You didn't mention your job." I said.

"Well...I am running an organisation that talks people out of committing suicide. We're a helpline centre." She shrugged.

"That's awesome, Alex!" I exclaimed. "You all have such amazing careers."

"So do you, Jake. So do you." She smiled.

"You know-" She started. "I wasn't wrong when I said you were the Ted Mosby of this book."

"Candy used to say that too." I took a seat beside her and handed her a cup of coffee.

"Candy wasn't wrong. You do have enough spoilers to give out."

I gasped. "I do not give any spoilers, young lady!"

"Sure you don't ." She mumbled under her breath, but I heard that.

"What is that supposed to mean?!" I grumbled.

"Never mind." She laughed.

"Will they be at the mansion by the end of the day?"

She smiled. "I don't know. Let's see if they keep their promise."

-Official ending-

A/N: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much to all those who stuck with the book till it's ending. I have no words to describe how grateful I am. Honestly, I had no intention of ever finishing this book but later I felt like this was a story that had to be written down.

The ending for both chapter 20 and the epilogue is open so it is up to you and your imagination on how it ends. If you want the others to congratulate him- they'll be there by the end of the day - probably with a surprise. If not, they won't be there and will come up with some issues of their own.

(I'm pretty sure you don't want the latter)

Hopefully, you all enjoyed reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them. Once again, thank you for everything!

Love, Maisha. 💖
