1 Millennial Intergalactic Competition?!?!

Long Qingyan felt her eyes droop. It seems like her father was announcing something important to a crowd of at least five million people. Qingyan thought, maybe she should pay more attention but it was too late; Qingyan's mind had already drifted off.

Meanwhile, the Celestial Emperor, Qingyan's father and the ruler of the Eastern Galaxy (not actually a galaxy but a cluster of galaxies), was continuing with his motivational speech. "A thousand years have finally passed and it is finally time for the Millennium Intergalactic Competition!" the Celestial Emperor paused, "We, the Eastern Galaxy, will take this chance to break into the top 5 galaxies in the world!" The crowd cheered and roared. "According to the Intergalactic Armistice Line 4, there will be 50 participants per galaxy. All participants must be under 100 years old and must be compatible with a Titan system. This year's competition is a little different than previous competitions which were based off of martial arts and magic. This year, participants will go through a series of trials in different worlds to earn points by completing tasks. The galaxy or empire with the most points wins the competition!" The emperor scanned the crowd. "Now, for what you've all been waiting for..... the list of participants! Each and every one of these participants are well-qualified for this competition. I wish all of them the best of luck." The emperor waved and stepped back, letting the announcer take over with the list of names.

"Feng Qingcheng.... Siyan..... Lin Yingying.... and finally our one and only princess, Long Qingyan!" The announcer flared. Hearing her name, Qingyan woke up with a start, all the cameras panning towards her. She blearily looked at them, not knowing why the attention was on her.

---

It wasn't until later that day when her oldest brother, Long Yuxiang, pulled her aside to talk to her about the competition, that she found out about her participation.

"Little sister! I bet second brother and third brother are so jealous of you right now!" Long Yuxiang shook her as she stared back confused. He facepalmed. "It's the intergalactic competition!" She nodded, still not really comprehending what he was saying. "You're in it." He pointed at her; her mouth opening up into an o-shape.

"WHAT!?!?!?!" She exclaimed, attracting the attention of the robotic servants. After a slight wave of his hand, the servants continued with their job, as of nothing had happened. "Intergalactic competition??? Like the one you were in?" He nodded. Qingyan groaned and rubbed her forehead.

The last intergalactic competition had happened when Long Yuxiang was at the young age of 86 years old (1-20: baby, 21-63: toddler/child, 64-100: teenage. 101-400: adult, 401-500: elderly; or you can just divide by 5). At the time, the Eastern galaxy ranked, out of 400 galaxies, 7th place and had a difference of a whole 50 points from sixth place. It was a disappointing loss for the galaxy but they were satisfied with the overall top 10 rank.

---

Later, knowing Long Qingyan wasn't paying attention to her father's speech, Qingyan's Celestial Mother also brought up the topic and began to give her some advice. "Yan'er, remember: this time it's different. The Imperial Academy, the people in charge of the competition this year, are changing the competition to adapt with technological innovations. This time you will be going to different worlds and accomplishing a central mission and several side missions. Side missions give you 2 points each and the central mission will give you 10 points. However, once you complete the central mission, you can choose to leave the world and go to another one." the Celestial Empress affectionately patted Qingyan's hair.

"Will I see people from other galaxies?" Qingyan asked, her interest finally piqued.

"You might." the empress smiled; her goal finally accomplished. "The rules say that if you encounter another person from another galaxy, you cannot sabotage the other person or the team risks losing points. That being said, the administrators have taken some lengths to make sure that the chances of tasks overlapping are little. So you might see them, but you won't have the same mission or opposing missions." the empress glanced at the clock. "Alright, it's getting late. You should get some sleep. You have a big day tomorrow."

With a kiss planted on the top of her head, Qingyan left the room and returned to her bedroom.

-the next day-

The crowd cheered as the fifty chosen participants walked down a regal carpet that led to the secondary throne room. Because of the competition, the secondary throne room was modified into a tech room, with Titan system pods in a five by ten array in the center of the room and technological equipment running the sides of the wall. The exterior of the throne room was fitted with satellites and TVs that broadcasted what was happening inside the throne room.

With her mother's explanation, Qingyan had already established a strategy of her own: she'll use the fastest time possible in order to complete the central mission, only completing side missions whenever convenient. Qingyan climbed into the pod and breathed as the announcer began the countdown into the virtual world.
