Starred Up

Deen, a seven year old boy, arrives in Korea with his mother Mia. With a strong determination to raise her son properly, Mia ensures Deen lacks no love in his life. In her spare time, Mia is a huge fangirl of the Korean boy group, TNT. But in an unexpected twist of fate, the mother-son duo end up being the neighbors of D3, another legendary boy group, which happens to be TNT's biggest rival. D3 consists of the short tempered Taewon, gentle Joon Jae and the goofy Jan. On top of that, Mia is hired as the personal designer for TNT, which consists of the charismatic leader Soo-Yon and the playboy maknae Cheng. Despite the rocky start, Mia and her son grow closer to all the members of both the groups. With time, the members realize they have fallen in love with the same woman, disrupting each group's dynamics. Furthermore, the origins of the hostility between the two groups resurface, making everyone involved question the decision they made a decade ago. As secrets unfold, the members vie for Mia's affections, Deen observes that she has eyes only for one of them. But which one of them will she choose? Soo Yon-Time Flew By

'You flatter me,' I smiled and returned to my book. After a while, the stage assistant arrived.

'Song Soo-Yon sshi, you are next,' he said. I gave him a little nod and got up for my performance.

The crowd erupted when I made my entrance. Two years passed by but it still seemed like yesterday that I've been on stage. The fans cheered on as they held up the fandom lightsticks to create a silver ocean.

'ARE YOU READY?' I screamed to the crowd.

'YES!' They chanted back.

'What was that I can't hear you!' I screamed. 'Louder!'

'YES!' they chanted again.

I smiled and broke into a dance. The fans went crazy as they followed my rhythm. Their shouts were louder than the music but their chants synchronized with my movements. Even after all these years, I was amazed to see that fans never stopped loving us. The music muted. The audience went quiet. They held their breath as they waited to see what was next.

'When did love touch me,' I sang through the silence. The audience erupted again. After two years, they were listening to their idol's voice again. That too singing the song which made TNT iconic.

'Time flew by

And yet here I am, waiting for you

Yet my words didn't reach you...'

I ended my performance with the infamous high note. The audience screamed in frenzy. Somewhere out there, I can imagine Taewon fuming with anger as well. He wrote the song after all.

'Great performance Soo-Yon ah,' Ahn Manager exclaimed as he thumped my back. After three back to back performances, I was exhausted. My forehead was glistening with sweat. But rest was not an option. The staff members gathered around me to congratulate me. I thanked all of them and shook their hands. Some fans gathered at the backstage, bombarding me with requests for autographs and selfies. I smiled and posed with them. More fans kept coming and it was getting overwhelming. My security guards intervened, driving the fans away from me.

'Sorry guys,' I apologized to the fans. 'Oppa has to go now.'

They looked disappointed and burst into complaints. I smiled at them and bowed.

'Have a good day everyone,' I smiled at them and turned to Manager Ahn. 'Can you make sure I get some privacy for a while? I really want to sleep,' I requested quietly.

Ahn checked the schedule.

'Well, you have two hours till the staff dinner,' he said. 'Alright. Go ahead.'

I thanked him and walked into my waiting room. My waiting rooms always consisted of three rooms. A grooming room for makeup and hair styling, a clothing section where the clothes for the performances are kept and a bathroom. I always took a shower after performances because it helped in calming my nerves. The clothing room also had twin beds; one for me and another for Cheng. In case if we got too tired from our hectic schedules, we took power naps there.

I picked up a towel and headed into the shower. It felt refreshing; I could feel the tiredness lessening and the warm water was calming my mind. I heard a faint knock on the front door. The hell? I asked not to be disturbed.

'Sir, I'm sorry for disturbing you.' It was a girl's voice. 'But I really need to get your measurements for the clothes you'll wear in your next interview.'
