3 Chapter 3: Plans

"Kreacher!" Harry called out as he stepped into the kitchen of Grimmauld Place after a good night of sleep. His headache was still present but had calmed down a bit, and he had a far better overview of the new information right now. Although the majority of it was still one big mess, he already had a solution in mind that would help with that.

While Wizardkind wasn't the most advanced race technologically, their understanding of zero-point energy and the mind was even more advanced than that of the Ancients themselves, even with the lack of proper scientific methodology.

This time it should be easier for him to get a grasp on the mind arts since he wasn't haunted by one of Voldemort's horcruxes, and Snape wasn't teaching him, who was highly dislikable for Harry at that point in time.

The mind arts should help massively to sort through the chaos in his mind right now and bring order to the mess so he could access all that new knowledge without trouble.

"Half-blood Master, be calling Kreacher?" The elf was greeted as he appeared in the kitchen.

Harry knew that he didn't mean anything bad by calling him a half-blood. Since he, Hermione, and Ron had taken care of Regulus's last command by destroying the locket of Salazar Slytherin, Kreacher had accepted Harry as Master and Head of House Black. Still, behavior that had been ingrained in him for decades was hard to drop. And Harry wasn't so cruel as to order him to stop, since he didn't want the ancient elf to punish himself for such banal matters.

"Yes, Kreacher. I need an ample English breakfast. I really need something in my stomach," Harry requested as he sat down at the table while the old elf began to prepare his food. First, he got served a nice cup of fresh coffee, and shortly after, he began to enjoy his breakfast while thinking about the next steps he had to take.

Obviously, he had to follow the steps of the Ancestors and the Ancients and head towards the stars. After all, he was looking for something to do in the future, and this sounded like the right opportunity.

Unfortunately, the last time he had information about the wider universe was 10,000 years ago, when the Lanteans returned from the Pegasus Galaxy and updated the knowledge in the repositories.

Merlin, after his descent, had no interest in the status of the current universe, not even the Milky Way Galaxy. He was solely focused on the threat of the Ori and how to take care of them.

So Harry simply had no idea what was going on out there. Not the situation in the Milky Way Galaxy. Neither about the Pegasus Galaxy nor about the Wraith, the life-sucking species that had overpowered the Ancients through their sheer number, had been up to in the last 10,000 years.

Neither did he know anything about the old allies of the Ancients or what was going on with the other three members of the Great Alliance of the four most powerful races in the Milky Way Galaxy.

For him to be able to learn anything about what was going on, he had to get out there into the galaxy. And for that, there were a few possibilities that he could pursue right now.

Constructing his own spacecraft of acceptable quality would be hard; he already knew that the Ancients had mined all advanced metals and minerals like Naquadah, Neutronium, and Trinium from the planet. If there hadn't been a meteorite impact with said materials, it was unlikely that he would find any on the planet. If there had been a meteorite, humans would probably have already discovered it and added it to their periodic table.

Without any of these materials, an efficient stardrive would be hard to accomplish. But he would keep his eyes open for any of these materials.

Overall, his best option was Earth's Astria Porta, which roughly translated into English means Stargate. The Stargate Network is one of the Ancients' greatest accomplishments in their history.

A stargate allows one to dial another one somewhere in the galaxy and travel through it to this faraway gate. Even intergalactic travel is possible, but it requires a massive amount of energy. Energy that the standard energy source couldn't provide by itself.

There are multiple galaxies with a stargate network, including the Milky Way Galaxy, which possesses one of the first and oldest ones, with most major planets having their own gate.

Ten thousand years ago, it was still, for the most part, intact and in pristine working condition, possibly still able to operate for a few million years in the majority without any maintenance.

Stargates were built to last for millions of years, including their energy source, which is a Cold Fusion Reactor Core built into the Clavis, a device responsible for manually inputting the Gate address, able to last for 50 million years before it needs to be replaced. Although the Gate Network in the Milky Way Galaxy was old, only the oldest Gates could have reached depletion yet.

Unfortunately, as one of the first planets colonized by the Ancients, the Stargate on Earth was one of the oldest. But Harry was reasonably confident that it should have enough power for a few Gate dials before it would give in.

Also, although he didn't have any superconductive materials for a useful stardrive, the minerals on Earth should be good enough to construct a generator to power the gate if necessary.

Additionally, Earth's Stargate, which should be currently shut down, was connected to an ancient outpost called Terra Atlantus, which should also allow him to redirect power into the Gate if necessary. So there were a few possibilities for him to leave Earth, get more advanced minerals, and reclaim the technology of his ancestors.

Well, there should be, but unfortunately, the ravages of time can be cruel even for an advanced race like the Ancients. Ten thousand years was quite a lot of time, during which a lot of things on the planet could change.

Harry knew exactly where Earth's Stargate should be located and where the Outpost was, and they were constructed in such a way that they should remain functional even under harsh conditions.

But as close as they were right now, they were currently unreachable at the same time. The Ancient Outpost with the Stargate was where today is Antarctica. Back then, it wasn't full of ice, but now it is. Which meant between him and the outpost was a massive layer of ice.

The Outpost was quite old in comparison to newer Lantean designs in the Pegasus Galaxy but had a few useful pieces of technology in it, including communication for other Outposts and the Gate Network, but it was undoubtedly old.

It still used the old ring transporters instead of modern energy-matter transporters like Atlantis did or the even more advanced beam transporter invented shortly before the Ancients ascended. The Rings are a technology based on the Stargates and not conceived to penetrate a thick layer of ice.

So no matter what he did, he would first need to construct an energy drill into the ice before he could activate the Ring Transporter via the mental link that he possessed, like the Ancients did to control their technology.

He wasn't even a hundred percent sure whether the outpost still existed. The glacial shift could have ripped it apart, but the Stargate was still there. It was small enough to not be destroyed by any shift, and he could always construct an energy source to power the gate if necessary and use the mental link to activate it.

His first step should be to confirm the existence of the Gate, the Outpost, and any other advanced energy signatures on the planet. After all, it was possible that the Ancients weren't the only advanced race that had left something behind on Earth during the last ten thousand years.

The Asgard were always fascinated by the life the Ancients seeded in the galaxy and closely monitored them as a possible fifth member of the Great Alliance. So they could have left something behind that would allow him to contact them and ask for a bit of help.

It was now clear to him how he should move forward. The first step is to build a sensor array good enough to scan the planet for any advanced technology or high-energy signatures and act accordingly.

Next will probably be the energy drill for Antarctica to reach the gate and/or outpost if they still exist and he doesn't find anything unexpected. In case the Gate is destroyed and he has no possibility to communicate with any of their old allies, he would resort to building a rudimentary spaceship and travel to the next planet with a functional Stargate.

But this is only a last-case option, since any craft he could construct with the materials Earth has available would take months, if not years, for such a journey.

"Sigh Kreacher, I am leaving. Please clean out the backyard for me. I will need the space," Harry requested from the old house elf after he finished his breakfast.

"Where has half-blood Master been going?" the elf asked.

"I need to make a visit to the goblins. I will need some of my funds for my new plans," Harry replied, a bit pensive since this would be expensive for him with his current relationship with these greedy buggers.
