10 U.A. Recommendation Entrance Exam - Written Test

*Ring* *Ring*

The sound of the alarm clock woke me up from my sleep. This isn't how I want my morning to be, woken up by an alarm clock instead of a kiss from Sayaka just like that time on the plane. I should mention that to her maybe she'll give me another.

I begrudgingly sat up from my bed. Today is the day for the test of those taking that has the recommendation given to them. I don't exactly understand why I need the recommendation when I can just take the normal exams, it seems simple that way.

Though as much as I hate to complain this is just how it is. I'll go along with their plans besides I'll be leaving this world for some time so I will let follow their orders. I don't want to be ungrateful to them.

"Hi-chan, you up yet desu~?" (Sayaka)

I heard Sayaka's voice from the other side of the door. Unfortunately, Sayaka didn't sleep with me on the same bed last night. Something about me not being able to sleep properly if she's right beside me the whole night. I reluctantly agreed on her argument.

Gotta have to reschedule her punishment once more due to that.

"I'm up Sayaka. What about nee-chan? Has she come to check on us yet?" Knowing nee-chan she would probably do that, right? "Is she really not going to let me ride in her car?"

"Nemuri-sama hasn't shown up yet but about the car. Last night she said that it will help you to familiarize yourself with the city… And also a punishment for what we did yesterday desu~. She's still mad about it Hi-chan." (Sayaka)

"Eh let her be mad at us. We saved a cute girl that's what matters." The moment what I just said registered in my mind cold sweat started to drop down from my forehead. "What did I just do?" I mutter under my breath.

"Alright desu~." (Sayaka)

Is she mad? Hope not. I shouldn't focus on Sayaka for now. I need to prepare for my exams. Heading to my bath I said, "Don't worry Sayaka. You're still the cutest." Hopefully, she heard that.

I walk to my bathroom with a heavy heart and a head full of headaches.

===== Sayaka P.O.V.

"Stupid Hi-chan," I say as my cheeks start to feel hot. "Hmph. At least he remembers that I'm the cutest." I could feel my grin grow wider at the thought of me being triumphant over all the girls that will be with Hi-chan.

"Why are you so happy Sayaka-chan?" (Nemuri)

Startled I quickly turned around as I raise both of my fists, ready for combat. Hi-chan might not know about it but I've actually been trained by Henry-san in hand to hand combat.

"Ah! Nemuri-sama it's you. I thought it was someone else." (Sayaka)

Nemuri-sama is now wearing her Hero outfit. It's scandalous desu~. If the people of Genosha knew their only Princess is wearing this kind of clothing and fighting crime many would go wild. Especially men. Hmph, dirty men that believe they are entitled to be loved by women of Genosha just by existing.

It's good that the female population of Genosha is larger compared to men. I rarely saw any men aside from Hi-chan and Satou-san's group. However, those that I saw other than them are all so… Disgusting desu~. Those creepy eyes that follow my every movement.

Thank you, grandpa Immortal, for making it hard for men to migrate to Genosha because of the strict rules and regulations he has placed. Those perverts all just want to live in Genosha because it's possible to marry more than one person. They believe that once they've moved to Genosha their dreams of having their own harem will become a reality.

How pitiful desu~. It isn't just the law, they really need to consider themselves as functional parts of society first before any of that could happen.

Still what's up with Nemuri-sama's Hero outfit?

Her outfit consists of a black leather breastless leotard over a white bodysuit which emphasizes her breasts, body and legs, the leotard possessing red gemstone-like accessories in a vertical pattern from the collar to the midriff. She also wears translucent black thigh-high stockings and black knee-boots. She has a small, red mask outlining her eyes, a handcuff on each wrist, and a red utility belt decorated with gold studs around her hips, a matching pentagonal buckle in its center. 

She's dangerous desu~. I can't let Hi-chan see her like this or else…

"Fufu, you're so adorable Sayaka-chan," she says as she approaches me and wraps her arms around me. "This is the reason why Hiro-chan is so mesmerized with you."

"Hi-chan? Mesmerized by me desu~?" (Sayaka)

"Oh? You haven't noticed? That is so adorable," Nemuri-sama says as she rubs the top of my head. I thought it's all due to me being his childhood friend… Hmm, no! This isn't the time to be thinking about any of this desu~. Hi-chan might come out any minute now.

"Thank you for that desu~. However, Nemuri-sama will you not be late for your meeting? You did mention it last night." (Sayaka)

"That's right! Thank you for reminding me Sayaka-chan, I'll go now. And here I was planning on giving him some tips for the exam today." (Nemuri)

"Hi-chan won't accept that Nemuri-sama. He may be lazy but he has his pride as a Prince of Genosha when he does things he will do it a hundred percent." (Sayaka)

Nemuri-sama seems stunned by what I have said, she looked at me awkwardly for quite some time before finally saying, "Right. Sorry, I forgot all about that pride stuff. Metahumans are the future, right?"

"Hmm. That's what grandpa Immortal always says but Hi-chan's pride is different desu~. He prides himself as the Prince of the nation that protected his kind against the world that wanted to harm them. This is his pride desu~. This is a part of who Hi-chan is Nemuri-sama, so as Hi-chan's best friend I cannot allow you to make fun of his pride." (Sayaka)

"Sorry, Sayaka-chan. I didn't mean to make fun of my baby brother or you." (Nemuri)

My eyebrows twitched at the mention of "baby brother" by Nemuri-sama. I forgot she's Hi-chan's sister desu~. She's a Princess. I'm going to be killed by Mom when she finds out about this.

I just raised my voice on a Princess desu~. And it's a Princess that's related to Hi-chan. Should I apologize? Or should I act like nothings wrong?

"R-right. Well, you didn't know Nemuri-sama and I know that you didn't mean any harm so let's just forget about this. Okay, desu~?"(Sayaka)

"Yes. Hey, Sayaka-chan can you tell me more about Hiro-chan? Stuff like this and his life during the past years?" (Nemuri)

"I'd be glad to desu~." As long as this doesn't reach Mom or I'll be murdered by my own mother.

"Thanks," Nemuri-sama smiles brightly. "I'll go now then."

"Take care desu~." (Sayaka)

===== Hirokazu P.O.V.

"What the hell happened?"

I ask that question to myself as I try to process the stuff that I just heard. Were nee-chan and Sayaka fighting? How did it even come to that?

This is so confusing. One moment they were talking about how mesmerizing Sayaka is (I totally agree) then the next they're talking about my pride as a Prince which by the way I don't really care about. I just did the stuff I did because none of those were troublesome and it was all pretty interesting.

When I find stuff interesting, isn't it normal to do your best about it? And the stuff about nee-chan wanting to help me by giving some tips for later, I believe she was just kidding but then Sayaka is too pure (naive really but I'm trying to be kind) that she didn't understand nee-chan.

This is why I should move Sayaka's head out of dreamland so that she would see me as me, not some sort of prince in a white horse.

When she hears someone making fun of me she just goes out there and tries to defend me even if no one is really making fun of me or it was maybe just some sort of joke.

Ugh, I shouldn't even be thinking about any of this stuff.

"How the hell do I even go out with the other side like that?"

I'll just go along with the flow and hope for the best. I look at the time

Looking around U.A. doesn't seem to be that special. The house back at Genosha still occupies a larger territory and more advanced technology. Even the security on their gate is something that could easily be destroyed with the appropriate Quirk.

The exam will be divided into three parts.

The first being the written exam, it will contain the normal stuff you find in exams. History, Mathematics, stuff like those that I hate so much.

What comes next after that is the second part that will be a Quirk Assessment test. I still don't know what kind of test it will be but I'm sure I'll pass it. Though I'm not sure if I'll come up on top since my Quirks have obvious limitations.

The last part of the exam is an interview. Just like the second part, I have no idea what the interview will contain. This is the part I'm pretty nervous about since I have to talk to strangers.

This is too damn annoying.

"Excuse me," I heard a voice come from behind me. Turning around I'm stunned by the beauty of the young woman in front of me.

She has long black hair that is tied into a spiky ponytail with a single bang hanging on the right side of her face and onyx eyes that point slightly inwards, which seems to resemble a cat. She's pretty and she's got a nice body. She's supposed to be a first-year like I am right? And she's already got such a body… How sinful.

I could feel my heart beating faster than it's supposed to, what's up with this? Is this what they call love at first sight? BS.

There's no way I believe in stuff like that.

But still, what's up with my heart rate? I think I need to go to meet the doctor later. Yeah, I'll take note of that.

"Yeah?" Ugh, what's up with me, did I just try to sound cool for this beauty in front of me?

"I'm Momo Yaoyorozu," she introduces herself as such while extending her right hand. I did the same and woe and behold her hand is so soft. Damn it, now I'm sure what this is. This is just my teenage boy hormones acting up.

"Hirokazu Kayama," I introduce myself as normal as possible. "Just call me Hirokazu. Where I come from we don't really use the last name to talk to people." I lie a little, Genosha has almost the same culture as Japan does seeing as my Grandfather was born in Japan but I'll keep that to myself.

She raised her brow at that but she nodded nonetheless.

"You can call me Momo then." (Momo)

"Alright, Momo. Did you need something by the way?"

===== Momo P.O.V.

What am I doing!? What do I do now, he's asking the reason why I called for him. Quick Momo, think. Think.

"You are an examinee for today's recommendation entrance exam, yes? It's just that I didn't know what room we're supposed to go to so if we can go together since we're going to the same place it would really be helpful." (Momo)

Nice job Momo. I doubt he'll see through me with that excuse.

"Ah. Well, this place is pretty big. Sure let's walk together."

"Thank you." (Momo)

Hirokazu-san then continued to walk. I walk beside him as I send him a few glances from time to time. What now Momo? I didn't think this far ahead, I just wanted to see whether he's really the person in the video from the Volcano Thieves incident yesterday.

I expected him to have an above-average appearance since I saw the video of the live stream yesterday but looking at a video from far away and seeing the person in front of me is worlds apart. How could someone so… Perfect exist?

I need to calm down… My nervousness because of the exam and now meeting this perfect being is not helping me.

Deep breathes. Deep breathes.

"So Momo, seeing as you're here to take the entrance exam in the top Hero Academy in the country. What made you want to be a Hero?"

Huh? We just met and he's already asking hard questions? Come to think of it he mentioned him being not from around here. He's a returnee? Or a foreigner?

Is that why? Is it common from his place to ask such questions?

"Ah, don't get me wrong. I've just been wondering about that since yesterday. You see I met a pro-Hero yesterday along with a person that wanted to be a pro-Hero as well and they seem so enthusiastic about being a Hero. I forgot to ask their reason for being a Hero so I guess I just wanted to ask those that will take the exam with me.

If you're wondering why I'm here since this is a Hero Academy and stuff the answer will only bore you. I'm here because my family wanted me to be here, they contacted some connections to get me a place in the exam today. I'm not here by my own choice but it's not like I've been forced. They did give me a choice.

Ah, that's our secret okay? Don't tell that to anyone. If I ever got in, I don't want to be known as the guy that only got in because of his parents."

Oh, he's the same as I am. He's from a rich family as well, so he wouldn't mind me being who I am. I've experienced too many fake people that wish to be friends with me just because of the money my parents have.

It would be good if he becomes my classmate here in U.A.

"Your secret is safe with me Hirokazu-san, we have the same situation after all. My family also used some connections for me to be able to get a recommendation for U.A.

As for your earlier question… I want to be a Hero because I want to help people! To save those that need saving and defeat the Villains that seek to hurt others. Also, I want to make my parents proud of me and graduating in the country's top academy will surely make that happen.

That's my reason for being a Hero and why I'm here in Yuei." (Momo)

Once I stopped talking I realized that I've been too excited that I practically almost shouted my words. This is embarrassing.

===== Hirokazu P.O.V.

Well… She's enthusiastic alright. And what came over me anyway? Why did I ask her that?

Eh, I've already asked and she's already answered. Nothing that can be changed.

"Sorry, I'm a little bit excitable since I'm nervous about the exams." (Momo)

I see, so even this smart-looking beauty is nervous for the exam. I guess it's normal, even I'm nervous and I've faced literal monsters just the other day and a group of Villains yesterday.

Teenager stuff.

"It's alright. Your smile was really beautiful when you were talking about being a Hero."

I won't lose anything if I try to praise her right? Besides it doesn't look like she took my compliment of her smile seriously instead she gave me another one, though not as genuine as earlier it's still beautiful.

"Thanks," she said and her face returned to the serious one she had earlier. Momo's face looks like she's thinking about something, what is it I wonder?

"By the way, Hirokazu-san. You seem familiar to me. Have you been in any TV show or anything like that?" (Momo)

From how sure she sounded when she's saying that it seems she's seen me from somewhere. Either that or she's sure I look like the person she's thinking of but not sure if I just look like that person.

I see what she wants. Momo wants me to confirm it myself. But the thing is I'm sure I haven't appeared in any sort of show and any picture I have on the internet would have been already erased by the technopath back at Genosha.

"Ahm, what do you mean Momo?"

I noticed a light blush on her cheeks, huh? What?

She faked a cough and said to me, "We've arrived."

I look at the door she's looking at and sure enough, we've arrived just outside the room where the written exam will take place.

"Let's talk about that again later then."

She nodded in agreement with a blush still on her face.

We walk inside and notice how there are already some people sitting around. Some stand out in particular but I pay them no mind for now. I search for the one in charge and noticed him quickly staring at me.

He's a man who looks like a cowboy. His face is covered by an old-school tan gas mask, shaped a little like a horse's muzzle, with triangular holes for his eyes and silver ear-defenders wired to the sides of the mask, but his dark, purplish shoulder-length dreadlocks are always visible from the back and sides.

On his head, he wears a brown cowboy hat with a thick metallic plate at the front, a large "S" stamped in the middle of it, and gray boots with knee-high shafts and vamps with silver trims that dip a little at the front, a heel-band with a spur at the end attached to the back of each boot.

"Take a seat, we'll start in a few minutes." (?)

I just nodded as a response while Momo greets him properly.

"Good morning Snipe-sensei." (Momo)

Huh so his name is Swipe, alright I'll remember it.

I choose a seat right at the back while Momo sat at the chair beside me. The two of us no longer talked to each other and wait along with the others for the exam to start.

*knock* *knock*

The sound of a fist knocking on wood stopped me from going further into my thoughts.

"Alright, if some of you don't know who I am my name is Snipe and I am in charge of the written portion of the exam.

Everyone here is smart you all know the drill. The exams will be on your terminals you have two hours to answer the test after that an hour and a half will be given as a break before the next portion of the exam. Go." (Snipe)

That's it? No encouragement of any kind? A bummer. Not like I need one though, I was just wondering what it would be like to hear a Hero's speech in person.

I nodded my head in encouragement towards Momo and then focused on my exam.

The first part of the exam is the science part. It had some questions about chemistry and physics there's also a small section about geology but that was just a part of it. What the science part of the exam really focused on are theories about Quirks.

The exam has a question about one theory of how Quirks came to be. It mentioned that in that particular theory, Quirks came to be because of a virus spread by a particular animal. Of course, the answer to that is simple since that theory is the simplest and most famous.

There's also the complex part of the science portion where I need to analyze how a Quirk works. Especially those of the Emitter-types, an example is one of the most common Quirks, [Firebreathing].

Just like its name, those with this Quirk allows people to breathe fire out of their mouths. Pretty simple Quirk and common since even Long Hai has this one. The question is about how they're able to breathe fire.

I answered with the simplest reason when they "awaken" their Quirk their body would also create a new organ in their body that will help them breathe fire. Also, it won't just stop in a new organ. When a person who can breathe fire "awakens" his Quirk his previous organs will also have a qualitative change. An example of this is their throats and mouths.

This phenomenon is called Quirk Adaptation, it's how the body of the people adapts through the changes their Quirks did in their body. An example of this would be me, my body and mind have learned to adapt to the extreme pain whenever I use my first Quirk.

[Firebreathing] is a Quirk that breathes fire through their mouth, if their throat and mouth don't become "fireproof" then every time they use their Quirk they would suffer from many degrees of burn.

That's just one question in a long list of questions regarding people's Quirks.

The second one was mathematics and honestly though he was able to handle it. It didn't mean it made me hate it less, I hate it as much as the next student does. It has questions about geometry, trigonometry, and some basic calculus. Gods, I hate it math so much.

After that is History. It just talked about various events of Japan's and some other countries' histories during the first years after the first Quirk appeared. It also asked about the Vigilantes Era. What I don't understand is how there doesn't seem to have any question regarding the person that brought unity to society during that time.

I mean come on, he was based here in Japan so why did they not include him? Is there some sort of secret I don't know about here? Eh not like it matters, that was some 200 or 300 years ago.

There are also some other subjects but unlike Mathematics that I absolutely detest, I was able to deal with those far easier.

A/N:

I did my best with all the technicalities about Quirks and the history of Quirks in BNHA. I'm pretty confused about how long Quirks have been present in BNHA so I just guessed it around 300 or so years might have been longer than that but meh.

The next chapters will be late since I have my calculus class project this week.
