5 Chapter 5: Talent and Hard Work In the Jedi Arts and First Day On Base

That Morning J'onn got up early and began his physical training long before he got his unit up for their daily exercise after a few hours he was done from there he went to the mess hall and ate breakfast with his unit who by then were up.

Following breakfast J'onn found the six men that were under his command for that morning, all of them young and impetuous, and gave them his good morning speech " good morning men I am DI J'onn Cloud your new drill instructor for combatives and marksmanship were gonna be out here on the training field till the afternoon so in light of that let's hop to it gentlemen also I want a sound off of each of your last names as you run by me, alright let's get to it."

The day went from slow to fast all within a few hours each trooper was quick to learn in their area of expertise and they all performed each task and exercise given them to the best of their ability which made J'onns job and paperwork go smoothly each man had perfect marks. Once he was done and his squad were at rest J'onn took a speeder bike and made his way to the Jundland waste going to the meeting point Ben had told him to be at.

When he was close by on his speeder bike he sensed that Old Ben was already there which surprised him since he knew Ben had never owned a vehicle of his own at this point it didnt matter J'onn was here for one reason and today would mark the beginning of his journey Ben spoke first in a tone of authority " I have meditated on what you have asked and the Force has given a reply I will teach you all that I can all that I require is that you be faithful and keep the secrecy of what happens here if you can swear to that we shall begin here and now." J'onn quickly replied with sincerity " I swear to all that you hold me to." Once the words had been said the training commenced. Ben brought two items out of his cloak both were cylindrical in shape one he tossed to the young man before him testing his reflexes and was not surprised to see that they were sharp in response as he caught the object without hesitation " where we begin today will start with blade training as I feel that the only way you'll wake your latent abilities is if I push you hard enough but first you must learn to defend yourself so I will teach you the defensive postures of form three my style follow me if you can" he said as he activated his lightsaber and then showing J'onn how to activate his borrowed blade.

The blade training had gone on for hours as J'onn learned how to move from one position to the other and not only that but he had to learn to keep his senses open to know where his opponent was at all times thus mastering his force sense ability while learning form three blade work. After a while Ben had him do something else such as sit on the ground and meditate while giving him instructions on how to feel all life on the planet after that he taught the youth two major skills he believed were necessary he taught J'onn how to levitate the rocks around him and how to push things with the force saying that if he ever needed to escape these two skills could and would save his life in a heart beat.

Right before the twin suns went down Ben called it quits for that day both he had taught J'onn all that he could before physically wearing down and yet he wished he was in his own prime again surely then he could teach the lad day and night without stopping but it just wasn't so anyhow the lad had soaked up all he had taught him for that day and made great progress so much so that he thought back to Anakin and for a moment that made him shudder as he thought ' my greatest mistake.' yet he could feel that this was somehow different and that the outcome would not be the same so before he left he took back the lightsaber he had let J'onn borrow and told him to practice everyday when the opportunity was available all the skills he had learned his last words before they departed one another " Tomorrow will be harder you will have to refine all that I teach you at an accelerated rate the only thing that will take time is your swordsmanship and even that will be made to be faster but it all should come a little easier to you since you've got talent now may the Force be with you" was all he said before taking his leave.

Back at the barracks J'onn got his supper late then after he was done went to bed straight away and thinking how he finally having achieved his first lessons into jedi knighthood though he soon realized that training himself in the ways of the force and training his troops might be difficult so he began to formulate a plan for his early morning exercise and from there he fell asleep.
