Glimpsing Back

The Grand Moff looked over the group of people whom surrounded him.

Captain Korro was standing beside the Monarch of Naboo whom was seated beside him, Iden and Del were seated in front of his desk and Kraytia was just dancing to her tunes. It somewhat reminded him of the past.

Getting up from his seat, the two members of inferno squad would watch as he turned his back to them and stared out the window. The ship had now moved into a synchronized orbit with the planet. His eyes were glaring out into the abyss. It definitely felt like it was looking back at him, just like the Earth's philosopher once said.

He closed his eyes passionately and listened to the gentle hum of the warship as it idled. If he was tired enough, he could just fall asleep standing up. He wasn't tired though, he felt like he was just getting started as so many things had happened today.

It had only been two years since this whole world fell into his lap. Until someone else's life became his own. He remembered the day that he woke up in someone else's body with the same first name as himself.

...

Two years ago he woke up on the planet of Ando Prime in his Imperial Estate. Before even opening his eyes he took in the scent of blood, and soon the taste of it. Opening his eyes as he instinctively wiped his upper lip.

He soon found that he had once been bleeding from both nostrils and his body felt as if it was on fire. Though the feeling quickly faded, as if whatever it had been was expelled from his body.

Glancing over towards a nearby empty glass, he stared at it for a few moments before gazing over at the woman draped in sheets laying beside him.

[ Welcome Host, you have been fully integrated into the body of Tobias Rune. I am your Wookiepedia System. I hold all the knowledge of the universe that you call Star Wars. I'm sorry to say that the Legends Roster has been filled, so you've been added to the NuCanon Alternate Universe, but only you have your memories intact due to the transmigration process. ]

At first he was confused seeing this text appear in front of him. But soon after it had appeared, it faded out of view and he could concentrate on the woman who was huddled up beside him. Seeing her open one eye and make an expression of confusion. He simply smiled down at her for a few moments before turning his head to see a young girl standing over him. Her shadow blocking the light reflecting from the snow outside his main window.

The girl had a knife in her hand, clearly looking angry.

"Why didn't the poison work!?" The pint sized slasher cried out and went to lunge, but all of a sudden as he reached out his arms to block her, the girl was thrown across the room by an invisible concussive energy.

The girl smashed into the pocket door of the closet, causing it to collapse partially inward before letting her slide down to the ground. The girl with the knife was unconscious, shallowly breathing.

"Tch," the woman who had been sleeping huddled up to his side seemed to be disappointed. She went to reach under the pillow to grab something.

However a few seconds before she could do so, Tobias had a flash of precognition. She was pulling out a blaster, she was going to shoot him. Visible he frowned and use the force to summon the weapon to his hand. This was much to her surprise, a look of shock and awe on her face.

"And here I thought I was being a just Governor of the Sectors assigned to me..." He said without thinking what he was talking about. It was as if he had the life of someone else's. Oh, that's right. He was placed in the body of someone with the same name.

He chuckled to himself with the realization based on what the System had informed him of. He felt rather stupid. It kind of reminded him of those transmigration novels he often read. Wait, the system said something about NuCanon?

After chuckling, he seemed to openly frown, especially after the girl spoke up.

"That's why you're going to die here, Moff." The woman said as she lunged forward to grab hold of his throat. Yet as she did so, she felt the blaster barrel pressed between her exposed chest. She found herself shoved onto her back by the weapon and the man knelt one on of her arms, while holding the wrist of the other.

Within a blink of an eye, with reflexes he barely understood, he had disarmed the woman. "Last night was pleasant. I'm guessing you've come to remove me, try harder next time." The woman raised a brow when she was told to try harder next time.

She immediately thought he was going to let her go, that was until she heard the expulsion of a bolt. The pain was immense, but it ended quickly. Her eyes had widened in surprise and agony, the light quickly fading and her body falling limp beneath him.

"Mi'Lord!?" An Imperial Uniform clad Zabrak woman with dark brown hair and olive toned skin came crashing into the room. Her horns had been sanded down to stumps. Blaster drawn having heard the weapon fire. Her green eyes looking over the scene.

At first she thought this was just some sick twisted game he was playing with people's lives until she saw the blood from his nose and the young girl with weapon laying beside her a good distance from the bed.

Seeing the woman go to lift their weapon, Tobias went to reach out. "Wai–"

He was cut off by the woman firing the weapon, through the force he felt the young girl's life suddenly vanish. His face went blank for a few moments before he turned to look at the dead woman beside him.

He kind of figured that this was a daughter and mom job. The two of them looked alike with their rounded face, perfect teeth and thick blue black hair. He let out a soft sigh as neither of them were breathing any longer.

"It's time to Prepare," Tobias ordered as he stood up from the bed, partially dressed. He looked at the blood which now stained the closet door before walking over to the window, looking out into the snow covered wonderland. "We don't have long."

The last thing Tobias remembered before waking up, was crossing a london street without looking both ways. Only to be hit by a public transit bus going well over the determined speed limit. Anything before that really was a blur other than those close to him and important events which surrounded his previous life.

His death was rather anticlimactic, he wasn't running from anyone and he surely wasn't murdered. He had a regular life with very few enemies and friends, a regular dead end job, and a regular somewhat functioning family. He remembered he had one sister and about six or seven brothers.

Letting out a soft sigh, he clasped his hands behind his back for glancing over at the Zabrak who was just looking at him oddly. "What is it, speak freely Lieutenant?"

Nodding lightly, "What do you mean by prepare, Sir?" She asked curiously as she tilted her head. She wasn't privy to any kind of plan, especially something that was like this.

"Right... The 'Annihilator' was overtaken by pirates two years ago after the Battle of Yavin. We're acquiring it. I have a weapon in development which will disintegrate the organic crew manning it. It should be ready by this afternoon," he spoke to the woman as he was giving her his plan.

The Lieutenant's eyes widened slightly hearing his plan to claim the Super Star Destroyer which was in the hands of an infamous pirate which claimed to be the Pirate King of Wild Space. "Yes sir, right away sir!"

With that the woman summoned a cleanup crew before leaving the room to prepare for the expedition into Wild Space. He had watched as she left before he peered back outside.

The pod races were going back on today, even though the Empire had made it illegal, he allowed the Bendu Monks to continue their annual celebrations. It was one of the many things the people of this ice ball of a world look forward to other than daily snowman and snowball fights.

...

Back to the Present he would open his eyes and gaze upon the surface of Naboo. It was beautiful despite the abnormal cloud formations from the storm inducing satellites which had been used to attack it.

He hated the Imperials which followed Palpatine's Orders. Though his hate for Iden Versio quickly faded as it was a part of the originators life and not necessarily his even though their memories were jobbled up.

He could hear the idle chit chat going on behind him. The Queen was talking with Iden Versio about the Imperial Tactics used throughout the Galactic Civil War. It wasn't necessarily something he paid much attention to. However he glanced to the side to see Del standing beside him with his hands folded behind his back.

"You survived a lot of assassination attempts, haven't you, Sir?" Del sounded as if he was suddenly talking to a superior he grown fond of, or at least had been friends with.

Tobias simply looked over at the man and smiled with a mild morbid expression that answered the question. According to his originator's memory, there had been quite a few after he started breaking the humanocentric policies of the Empire. It seemed other politicians didn't like the fact that he had a thing for xenos.

"About seventeen if tallied up," He gave a number count as if he was keeping track, which he was subconsciously. It wasn't something he was proud of, since none of them escaped his or his subordinates wrath alive. "They were all blamed on the rebels too, even after getting a recorded confession that they were sent by another Moff to remove me."

Del stiffened his jaw slightly hearing this and nodded slowly. "Seventeen attempts. I wouldn't have wanted to be you..." He related before glancing over his shoulder towards the kid who was dancing about. "She's not human, is she?"

"No, she's not. She's half Enchani and half Sephi, but she had her outward form genetically altered to appear more Enchani." If they looked close enough to Kraytia, they could see the small points at the ends of each ear. It gave her a semi-elf like appearance.

Del chuckled through his nose and let his eyes rest on the girl who looked carefree yet completely alert. "Dangerous?"

"Extremely."
