13 Ch 12

Solana was stunned. She could not move, a scene from a horror holo-vid was in front of her. A guy with an exploded head, his blood splattered on the wall behind him. A human girl with yellow hair, holding an old time rifle. One that looked like something that A Turian might have as a family heirloom. A piece of history that had no place in this current era. And it was smoking in her hand. The girl had been regarding her quietly for a moment until a smile that could only have been worn by a devil came onto her face.

"I did not believe that we had company madam. I believe our prize is just down this elevator."

Her hand pointing to an elevator behind her.

"Don't worry. Reinforcements are coming." The girl turned around and began to move towards the freight elevator. Solana sighed in relief, it felt as if the grim reaper had finally stopped looking at her.

-------------------------------------

Tanya stood on the elevator, waiting for the Turian woman to follow her. And so she still found herself waiting. This was getting annoying.

"We need to go down." She hated this he most when soldiers did not follow her orders in a prompt way. Did they not realize that their lives were hanging in the balance. Tanya may be many things but she never sacrificed her own soldiers. Such a thing was unproductive and resulted in a loss of trust from your own soldiers. One day, such a General would find himself with a knife in his back, his own command being responsible for this betrayal.

The Turian moved. "I did not expect you to come here. Were you not just an author? A young entrepreneur looking to expand into an unexplored market."

Tanya just shrugged. "Do you think that someone normal could wrote stories like that?"

Tanya looked pointedly at her. "Just read, and maybe you will find something. Who knows?" Answering a question while giving no definite information. Who knows? Her curiosity may make her an avid reader. Tanya began to smile. Another helpless customer snagged. Now, she would just need to increase the amount she charges for each production. She could easily dictate the prize the market right now.

The Elevator was descending. "Are all these elevators so slow."

"This is just a safety feature." The Turian answered. "This is standard through out the galaxy."

"So, every elevator will be this slow." Tanya sighed. " I would rather fall." She could use her magic to decrease the speed of her fall as she got closer to the floor. She left this unsaid, of course. There was no need for anyone else to know about magic for the moment, Just as Alex was hiding his abilities, she would hide her abilities as well.

There was no telling what kind of attention they would catch if people came to know about their special powers. It would revolutionize the world that they live in, but it would be at the cost iof their freedom.

For the hundredth time, Tanya sighed. The presence of this Turian was becoming more of a nuisance, she should not have goaded the police force. That was her blunder. On the plus side, she could give all the credit of the rescue to this officer. That would save her a big headache down the line.

Tanya opened her eyes as she looked down. They were near. Her eyes switched to thermal vision as she registered a bunch of heat signals below her.

"We are here. Expect hostiles." Tanya turned eyes towards Solana. "Seek cover as soon as possible."

Tanya readied her rifle. She was prepared to fire. She used body enhancement magic. If she fired wothout it, at best she would be thrown backwards, at worse, she may dislocated her shoulder. Both of those options were not worth it. Just let the Turian think that she was freakengly strong fo0r her age.

Formula's appeared before her eyes as she ran the calculations and activated the magic. To her it may have been slow but in reality, it was an instantaneous process. Magic was manipulating the rules of reality with the help of some computation. This was an area that she excelled in. The ability to compute, an ability which was further heightened when the type 95 operation orb fused with her heart.

The came into view of the soldiers and Tanya opened fire. One shot, one dead Bartarian, a bullet going through his eyes.

Second shot and another dead Bartarian. Tanya felt glad that non of these vagrants had personal shields or Bariers. Her experience as a Soldier came into full use as her initial opening shots decimated the morale of the pirates.

It was at this point that the Turian started firing as well. If Tanya had to guess, she was carrying an assault style rifle. The Turian fired in short bursts, taking down another Bartarian.

The Bartarian morale was decimated, instead of returning fire, they choose to priortise their own lifes and take cover. This gave both Tanya and the Turian ample opportunity to get off the elevator and not be sitting ducks. Both of them had taken cover, firing at the Bartarian positions to keep them in check.

"Shit." Tanya cursed as she had to reload. Her weapon pinged as shetook out the empty magazine and a few of the shells were ejected from the gun.

Each magazine had a capacity of only ten shots but her weapon traded magazine capacity for pure power. Tanya took a calming breath and leaned out of cover, Her eyes switching to thermal vision as she fired a single shot. Her shot, went through some crates and through the head a hiding pirate.

There would be no mercy, no chance at surrender, only death.

Tanya stepped out, each of her shot finding its mark. Taking down one pirate after another down. The few remaining pirates panicked and ran towards her, their guns firing. Their aim wide and erratic, a few bullets hit the ground near her, blasting some dirt on her.

It was fortunate that she was not alone as the Turian took the pirates charging her down skillfully. One short burst after another taking them down. Both of them made short work of the pirates. together.

Tanya stepped forward, s=her eyes locking onto the heat signals of the kids. She saw one of the slavers near the trying to crawl away. Tanya did not pause her footsteps, she simply pointed her rifle and with a headshot. Put the maggot out of its misery.

She soon found herself near a giant door. Now that Tanya had calmed down, she looked behind her at the scene of the massacre. It would not do any good if any of the children saw such a scene.

She opened the door and stepped in. "Big sis Tanya. You came, I told them that you and big brother Alex will rescue us." Giant drops of tears were raining down form their eyes. Tanya looked and saw that all of the kids were present there. No, it was not only them, there were a few Turian a well as Asari children who were huddling together.

Her voice softened. "Big sis is here. Lets get all of you out of here. Alex should be waiting for us outside."

She pointed at the Turian behind her. "I brought a police officer with me." She turned to all of the children that were present there. "You all are safe. We are here to rescue you." She kneeled down as she regarded each of the children and tried to convince them. "I want you all to do a favor for me."

The kids looked at her. "The men that hurt you will never hurt anyone again." SHe saw a sign of relief on the faces of the kids, perticularly the alien ones. The humans were still crying. "I want you all to not look down as we are leaving. Can all of you promise me that?"

The children after a slight pause and with some hesitaion nodded at her.

"Pinky promise." Tanya extended her pinky.

The children nodded at her with a firmness now.

"Good, now follow the nice C-Sec officer."

"If you all are good, we are going for a ride afterwards." The Turian ushered them out. "Now come on, don't look down."

--------------------------------------------------

(Solana's POV)

Solana was feeling very complicated right now. Before, Tanya had shown the same grit that was exhibited by her old sergeant and trainer. She had seen her viciousness and her cruelty. An image of her had been forming in her mind. A ruthless General and soldier. One that showed no mercy either to her enemies or to her soldiers or even to her self. She had seen her take control of the situation with such precision that it would make the Palaven high command salivate about having such a soldier in their ranks. They would even make her a fleet commander, regardless of the fact that she was a human. The girl embodied the values of the ideal Turian Soldier and General down to a T.

Now, she saw another sight to her. It felt so foreign to her, especially after she had seen her nonchalantly execute a Bartarian that was crawling away from her.

She had seen her display compassion and a soft side that seemed completely foreign to her. She was even carrying a sobbing child inside her arms. Her rifle swung over her shoulder.

"You there. Don't break your promise. Don't look down."

Solana realized that they were literally walking in a pool of blood right now.

"Turians hold our honor in a high regard kid. So, don't break your words." She called out to one of the Turian child.

Soon, they reached the freight elevator and began to move upwards.

"Relax, we are not going to be facing any enemies. My reinforcements are here." There was a genuine smile on her face.

As the freight elevator reached the surface. SHe saw a boy standing there, two of those strange swords at his side.

"You were late." Tanya said.

"Like you ever needed my help." He smiled at her.

After looking behind her. He gained a serious look as his smile disappeared. "So, what do we do next?"

"We take them to the human embassy." Tanya answered. "They would be safe there and-" She rubbed the top of her head in annoyance. "- the Matriarch will know what to do."

The boy grabbed her hand as he smiled charmingly at her. "So Madam. Are you ready to make the greatest escape of our life. The Bartarians have blocked the entire District. Oh, and I am driving."

(Alex's POV)

Alex had played a few simulations so he knew how to drive this car. He also had the force to guide him as well.

He accelerated, making a new exit hole. Alex accelerated and the force guided him, showing him the path of the least resistance. He rammed through one blockade after another. No stopping for any f the screaming Bartarian in his path. Most of them careening out of his way. Soon, he crossed the blockade and began to make his way ti the presediums.

"This is Tanya. We are looking for shelter within the human embassies. I repeat, we are looking for shelter. Coming in hot."

Alex took the truck to the air as he guided it through traffic. Dodging and careening out of the way, making any chase impossible for anyone to persue them on. The only way would be to disable the VI driving on the citadel and then chase them which would cause chaos.

Dipping and dodging, the human embassies came into view as Alex floored the accelerator.

He could see a few marines out making a secure corridor for them to land.

Ale landed the truck and the door of the Truck opened. The children streamed out, led by Tanya and the Turian.

Alex got out as well, his hands ready to draw out his katana at any sign of danger.

"I want a lockdown initiated right now." Anderson stepped out. His voice full of steel. "No one in and out. Lifted only by my orders or the orders of Anita Goyle."

"What about the C-Sec?"

"I said my orders already. No one in or out, Get in a defensive position now."

Suddenly, the force screamed in his head. It spoke of danger and imminent loss. A bullet, no a sniper, their aim was Tanya.

His sword drawn out, Alex leaped out as he crossed the distance between Tanya and himself in the fraction of a few moments. He felt it, the bullet has just been fired. Time slowed down, as he looked up and saw the position of the sniper. It was about one yard away on the top of a building. He drew out his sword and slashed. It was at this time that one of the impossible scenes took place. A scene of a sword stopping a bullet, one that would be studied in great details later on.

Alex slashed, the bullet was in the path of his sword. All it took was a flash of sliver, as Alex swung his sword. The bullet split in two, both pieces impacting the ground slightly to the side and behind him. This scene would be studied by many experts and some would call it luck but others will call it a great sense of battle. One particular Asari Matriarch will salivate at this scene. Her resolve to get Alex will increase exponentially after she will see this scene.

By his side, Tanya had drawn her rifle and shot it as well, three times in a row, the nuzzle on the right side of Alex's head. Alex felt his ear ringing from the shots, and he got the stench of gunpowder by his shoulder.

The sniper who had frozen at the scene of his bullet being split in two had no time to react as two shots took down his shield and one nailed him in the head. Ending him.

"Sniper down." One of the marines who had taken his binoculars whispered out.

"Inside now." Anderson yelled, waking up everyone from these consecutive surprises. "Lockdown, we are now on code red. Assume everyone approaching to be a hostile. Warn the C-Sec as well and tell them to stay the damn hell away."

He saw the Marines usher both Alex and Tanya inside. He rubbed his forehead in frustration. What the fuck was he supposed to do now. Both Alex and Tanya were now on the radar.
