The next morning, Hayoung woke up at the wee hours of dawn. Sunyoung was fast asleep on her bed, curled up inside a blanket like a little child. Even though they were not talking much, he knew that she was working hard in the magistrate's home. She had worked until late night and was sleeping like a log. 

Hayoung could not bear to face her. The girl was still under the impression that she was brought here as his wife and companion to Insa. He wanted to scream at her to run for her life but he was bound by duty. No matter how much his heart wanted to whisk her away, he knew that their lives would be constantly endangered by the Black Rose. They would hunt them down and kill her in front of his eyes.

He looked away, trying not to think about it. His heart was in a chaotic frenzy, aching to pick her up and take her away but it was futile. He did not possess the courage.

Stop it, he told himself. You can't save her. She is doomed.
