23 The Threat

It took everything in Valerie to calm her turbulent emotions as she stalked over to Lucian and grabbed him to his wrist, pulling him towards her. He no longer stood at the center of those beautiful women, and Valerie was in front of him as though acting like a barrier between him and those women.

Her protective stance puzzled everyone as she appeared out of nowhere.

Lucian's eyes fell on Valerie.

"What are you doing?"

Valerie raised her head to look at Lucian. Those nonchalant eyes of hers made Lucian realize that Valerie returned. At the same time, silence spread, and eyes were on them.

The engagement between the two of them was a hog news after all, and everyone waited for the drama to unfold.

"Taking you home," she responded, "you played enough."

She emitted low pressure, enough to make the onlookers feel chill even though her eyes were solely on Lucian.

Amusement crossed through Lucian's eyes.

"I have already satisfied you," Lucian said, "what about rest others. Darling, you shouldn't be this greedy, right?"

Following those words, Lucian's gaze fell on a hazel eyed beauty, and he winked at her. His gesture made the cheeks of the woman flush, and Valerie suppressed in all her turbulent emotions.

"If you keep this up, I will have to resort to force," Valerie threatened.

"Desperation isn't a cute look, Honey," he stated, patting on her shoulder. With those words, he walked towards a woman and boldly flirted with him under Valerie's scorching eyes after shooting Valerie a challenging look.

Valerie pursed her lips into a thin line.

"The production of Blue Ocean— how long do you think it would take for me to shut it down?"

Lucian's motion paused at it. The air grew tense, and that threat turned of his mood entirely. Lucian glared at the nonchalant woman before him.

"Follow me," she ordered after taking one last glance at him and stepping away.

Lucian sat on the shotgun seat while Valerie drove the car. The man had his head out of the window, concentrating on the scenery outside, and silence surrounded the two of them until Valerie decided to break it.

"Stay in my apartment for now," she voiced out.

Lucian scoffed at it.

"Your apartment has been broken into," Valerie revealed before taking out her phone and showing him the photo. Lucian's nose scrunched at the messy state of his apartment.

"Who knows if it wasn't Ms. Davies who was behind this?" Derision was present in his tone.

Valerie showed no reaction to the accusation thrown on her by him and voiced out, "Your parents house isn't safe."

Lucian sneered.

"That's why, you think it would be better for me to stay with you? I apologize, Ms. Davies, but I am not helpless as you take me to be. I will take good care of myself. You needn't bother."

"Your friends aren't reliable."

"And you think you are?" Lucian gave a mocking laugh.

He then added, "I think you are more dangerous than all."

Valerie's hands on the steering wheel tightened. She hated how he was right on that. This is when her phone rang, and Valerie received the call. Leslie voice came in through the earpiece.

"You found him?"

"Hmm," Valerie responded.

"Good then. You had nothing in the morning. You must be hungry. Come over at May's. It is clear here."

"I will directly go over to my office. I am not hungry."

As if in cue, her stomach growled, and Valerie paused at it. This made a chuckle escape from Lucian's mouth subconsciously.

He then commented, "Because someone dragged me away, I hardly was able to feed myself. I am starving."

Valerie pretended as though that embarrassing moment didn't happen and responded, "Five minutes."
