16 Helplessly Look At Me

Leaning against the wall, Lucian had his hand folded over his chest.

"Is this your true self," he questioned, "or a split personality?"

Done placing the plates in the kitchen, she walked over to where he stood and smirked prior to commenting, "As expected of my baby. So sharp. What do you think?"

He rolled his eyes and smiled wryly.

"Whatever it is, it is none of my business. I have a flight to catch. Bye, adios, it wasn't exactly pleasant meeting you."

Having said that, he was about to leave after waving his hand when Rye grabbed his wrist and pulled him to halt his motion. His back touched the wall, and she stepped closer to him. Her eyes met his.

"Do you think I brought you all the way here just so allow you to leave this easily?" She arched her eyebrows.

"Not exactly," he responded, "but I did expect for this matter to be dealt with civilly before I have to resort to drastic measure."

Rye remained unfazed. She traced her fingers on his hand to meet his and then intertwined her fingers with his. Raising his hand, she pressed it against the wall. Although the action appeared awkward due to the difference in height, Rye didn't lose her momentum.

"Even so, you wouldn't be able to prevent you from being mine."

After those words left her mouth, she frowned and shook her head before correcting, "No, you are already mine."

She flashed him a wide grin.

"Yours? How funny. Do you think you will be able to keep me here?" he challenged.

She confidently nodded.

"You wouldn't be able to leave through the door, and if you wish to escape through the window, be my guest. I am pretty sure you're notsuicidal because there is no way jumping from seventh floor will keep you alive," she explained.

She then added, "If that doesn't work either, I have other methods as well. Don't resist too much. I don't want to end up crippling you to keep you here."

He humorlessly laughed.

"You are nuts," he responded, "and you know, you shouldn't provoke me in this manner. It would make me do something crazy as well."

"Is that so? I am looking forward to it then," she said, "Bet it would be hot."

"You don't think that you will be able to force me into engagement in this manner, do you?"

"I actually believe I can."

With that, she released her hold on him and took out her phone. Then, swiping across the screen, she opened her social media account and selected a certain photo. She then showed it to him.

Creases appeared between Lucian's eyebrow.

He examined the photo on the screen. It was of him laying and sleeping on the bed. Beside him was Rye, holding his hand. There were matching rings on their finger, and they appeared quite intimate.

The caption below mentioned, "My very much loving fiancé."

"In addition to this, the picture of you kissing Valerie is out. That makes me really jealous."

Although the scandal would be damaging to his image, Lucian voiced out, "You do know what they say about me. No one would bat an eyelash even if I abandoned you."

Rye was amused before bursting out into laughter.

"You are a naïve one. Do you think no one cares? And who says I will leave it at that? I will tear your wings up, so that you won't be able to fly again; taint you to the point no one wants you; and make it so that you will be helplessly looking at only me."

There was a dangerous glint in Valerie's eyes, showing that she meant each one of those words. It caused chill to travel through Lucian's spine.

"Do you think that's possible?"

She extended her hand and grabbed on to his chin, bringing his face close to hers.

"You remember what happened back then, don't you? Don't force me to repeat the history, and this time, it would be scarier," she threatened.

Lucian froze for a second before pushing the woman off of him. His eyes glared at her.

"I will just have to ruin you before that happens then."

This time around it would be him playing her, not vice versa.
