Chapter Three: The Twins

/////////

Obviously, we were teleported to another world.

Now, we had never lived a good life. We were poor, malnourished, and had terrible family issues. But, this new world had us living in worse conditions than ever before.

At least on Earth, we were fed, had a little money, and had parents. On this world, we had none of these things. We couldn't even speak the language! Things were not looking good.

Yet somehow, we managed to barely scrape by for a year.

Kyle Larkin liked to think that he and his twin, Kai, were very close.

He even knew about Kai's biggest secret. That he was a reincarnated person from a different world.

Having been told this by his brother while young, Kyle had never thought it to be false. He never doubted it once, which led to a few misunderstandings with others who he thought would think the same way.

Oh, how young and naive he had been.

Of course, at the age of twelve, he was obviously much more mature than he had been then. He wouldn't go around telling people of his brother's precious secret ever. And, it was definitely not just because Kai had instilled a fear of angering him into Kyle's very soul... Not at all.

Anyway, Kyle enjoyed being the only one who knew of Kai's secret. They could converse in a foreign language that nobody knew and Kai even entrusted Kyle with his most prized possession. A diary.

Specifically, a diary of his past life.

Kai had cast a ward on the book so that nobody could open it without knowing the password, a phrase from yet another foreign language that even Kyle did not know. However, Kai had also taught him this phrase. Kyle may not have known what it meant, but he still had it memorized.

'Little Red Riding Hood'

The words would roll off of Kyle's tongue. He loved the way it sounded and could hardly imagine what it meant. Probably something majestic and elegant, befitting of Kai's most treasured possession.

The was what Kyle was thinking as he walked the path to school.

It was the first day of his high school classes. Kyle already had duties as the second to best scorer on the entrance exams. One of which was to show the third best around the school campus.

See, Orverous High, despite its name, was not purely for those attending high school. The campus was separated into three sections. The elementary section, the middle section, and the high section. The names were pretty self-explanatory.

Anyways, Kyle had been attending this school since elementary school, so he could easily navigate around the large campus. He was the perfect guide for the new transfer student. His name was Nelerma, if Kyle remembered correctly.

This Nererma sounded quite interesting. He was a 12-year-old kid, just like Kyle, who had been homeschooled his whole life. Yet, this kid was able to score third on the entrance exams, missing only three out of 1500 questions. That was quite a feat.

Of course, Kyle was even better, only missing one problem. But that was to be expected. After all, nobody but Kai could be better than Kyle. Especially when it came to school.

Kyle lamented at the top scorer's absence. It really was such a shame that Kai was unable to come and greet the interesting Nalima himself. Unfortunately, Kai had studied too much last night and had to sleep in a bit to keep himself healthy. Kyle shook his head at the injustice of it all. He felt really bad for his brother who felt so bad that he had to skip out on his morning duties. Kyle was more than willing to do them for his overworked twin.

Entering the main building, Kyle was surprised to find Velarma already waiting for him. He could have sworn he had come an hour earlier than the appointed time.

"I do apologize," He said worriedly, "I must have gotten the wrong time. I didn't mean to make you wait."

Nelarma smiled at him. "No, you didn't get the time wrong. I just like being very early. I would feel uncomfortable having someone wait for me."

Kyle's face brightened at this response. It seemed that this Nelarna was quite a bit like him. Though, slightly more inferior of course.

"I completely agree. Next time we meet each other, we should strive to plan to arrive at the same time. That way, neither of us will have to keep the other waiting." Kyle waited to see Nelarma's response. He felt that this person was similar to him, so it shouldn't be too difficult to pull off, right?

Nelarma smiled. "Sounds great!"

Kyle nodded his head with satisfaction. It was as he thought.

"Right, we still need to do introductions! My name is Kyle Larkin. You must be Nelerma Wesern."

"Actually, It's Nelarma Wevern," Nelarma corrected.

Kyle nodded. "Got it, Velarma Wemern."

"No, it's Nelarma Wevern."

"Nilernia Wivorn?"

"No i- You know what. Sure, let's go with that."

Nelarma had just figured out Kyle's biggest, and most annoying, flaw.
