Chapter Four: The Unbelievable Idiot

/////

I was a bit upset to find out that we indeed were 'heroes' summoned to defeat the 'demon King'.

I was very interested in the fact that we had been transported here with no language abilities, no power, and nobody to help or teach us. It was unlike any novel I had read. Quite interesting indeed.

But this interest was crushed when Jax awoke as a mage and blew up half of a town. It wasn't his fault, he was just too powerful and had no way to control that power.

It was then that a priest of the Church of Light found us and told us we were the chosen ones. Utterly disappointing.

I followed around the idiot while he showed me around campus. I still couldn't believe he was real.

First, he showed up an hour early. Granted, Nel had as well, but that was only because he was incredibly nervous and overly worried. It was understandable if that was all that Kyle did, but it didn't end there.

What was with the whole 'We should plan to make sure we arrive at the same exact time the next meeting we have!'????? For starters, who said that they were going to hang out again? Don't just assume that Nel wants to be your friend! He has SOME standards. Also, who could plan so perfectly that two people would arrive at exactly the same time? Was that even possible!?!

Finally, and most troubling, was Nel's name.

Did Kyle have some sort of brain problems?!?!? Was he doing it on purpose?!?! How could someone possibly be so irritating?

"...ersonally play the piano and guitar, as well as sing." Kyle was currently blabbing on about his talents while showcasing the music room. "If you'd like, I can help teach you these, as the courses aren't available as classes. Otherwise, you can learn them on your own time."

"Uh huh," Nel nodded non-committally.

Kyle continued unperterbed. "As you can see, I-..." He suddenly trailed off. "Sorry, what was I saying? I blanked out there for a sec."

Nel glanced at him in surprise. "...You were talking about teaching guitar and piano."

"Right! As I was saying, I play both of those instruments and I sing as well. I can help you learn those, but otherwise you're going to have to learn an instrument on your own time. Classes aren't available for you to learn an instrument, only to improve."

Nel spaced out again, ignoring Kyle completely. Whenever Kyle left a room, Nel would follow. Often, he retained no details on the room they were at had been for. Not that that was important.

Honestly, the tour was completely unnecessary. As Nel had found out the day before, there was a complete map of the campus available to every student in their planners.

This whole thing was utterly redundant and useless.

Kyle didn't seem to mind though. He spent an entire hour and a half showing Nel the ins and outs of the school. At least they had both arrived early, there was still about an hour left until school started.

Relieved to be done, Nel bid farewell to this unusual person. "Thank you again for the tour. See ya."

Kyle just smiled. "Bye, Carrot Head!"

Nel stopped suddenly, turning around. "What did you just call me?"

"Carrot Head? See, you're hair is red, so I found you a suitable nickname! Isn't it great?"

Nelarma looked with complete bewilderment at this complete moron. However, what he said next changed his opinion.

Kyle grinned knowingly. "Or would you rather I call you Merama? Or Nilarma? I really can't remember. Was it Nilaria?"

His bewilderment swiftly made way for understanding. "Carrot Head is just fine."

'Vitctory!' His face seemed to scream. So in the end, it was on purpose. This idiot had manipulated him into accepting a terrible nickname simply because it was less annoying than his name being mispronounced all the time. How irritating.

Kyle tilted his head to the side in confusion. Why did Carrot Head seem upset?
