22 The Tournament's Burden

Kay stood in front of Alice, feeling dazed and confused. He couldn't remember what had just happened or why he was even there. All he knew was that Alice was crying in front of him.

"Are you okay?" Kay asked, his voice emotionless.

Alice looked up at him, her eyes red from crying, "...of course not!" she snapped.

Kay frowned, not understanding why Alice was so upset. He had always been distant and detached from his emotions. He reached out a hand to help her up, but she recoiled at his touch.

"Just leave me alone," Alice said, turning away from him.
