3 Hans Luther (2)

"Allan!?"

After hearing Rain scream, everyone turned to look behind Hans.

"Allan, what are you doing!?" Gab asked calmly as he gripped his hand tightly to the handle of his sword.

"Hahahahaha… can't you see!?" He raised his left hand to his neck and performed a slitting action, "I'm here to kill you all."

Gabs shakes his head as he hears his words. Other Awakeners laughed at the absurdity of the situation. They're all E-Class here. Threats from other awakened of the same rank would not bother them. It's not like he can defeat them, all alone. Even if he did, they would have been more than enough to take him down.

"Pfft… Allan stop this prank. But it's really funny, to be honest."

"We should go home now. I'm tired."

"Dude, if you want to fight, I'll accompany you."

Allan, on the other hand, did not appear to have heard what they were saying. His gaze shifted to the other Awakened; a playful smile formed on his face.

...….

Meanwhile, Hans' back was drenched with sweat. His legs were slightly trembling as if they were slowly turning to jelly. Normally, he should run away as fast as he can but,

'I can't move my legs.'

In comparison to the other E-Classes, he lacked the necessary bravery. He lacked not only courage and bravery but also strength. Even a weak E-Class, let alone a skilled one, can kill him.

Though needing help, he swallowed his words. There's nothing to fear as long as Gab is here, after all, he's a D-Class Awakened.

"Hahahahaha, you think I'm in the same rank as you!? Then let me hack you to death!!!"

Swish—

Even though the large sword is heavy, Allan moves at high speed too fast to avoid. His figure became blurred, creating a gust of wind behind him as he passed. His figure appeared behind each Awakened as he hacked them to death.

"HAHAHAHA, DIE!!! DIE!!!"

Allan brought his sword downwards, splitting an awakened in half.

Splat—

Allan continued to smash his blade in front of the horrified gazes of other awakeners. When the blade strikes the ground, it creates shockwaves, crushes the floor, and causes the cave to shake lightly.

"Arggghh!!!!"

"R-run!!!"

"I don't want to die yet!!!"

"HELP!!!!"

Awakeners fled as soon as Allan began his slaughter. Unfortunately, Allan appears to have no plan to keep them all alive.

"HAHAHA RUN!!!"

......…..

Dragging his heavy feet, Hans run as well. He finds himself fleeing in the opposite direction from where the dungeon entrance was. Beads of sweat stream down his face as he grasps the treasure box tightly in his hand which was left by Gab at the scene.

'Hans, run! Damn it, move your fucking feet! '

Numbness filled his legs, as he continued sprinting towards the dark cave. Hans lacked any skill or ability, so he had to rely on his senses to move. He stumbled upon a large wall while galloping through the dark cave. Touching the rough edges of the wall, he yelled inwardly.

'Is this a dead-end?! Fuck! 'Hans' breathing became heavier as time passed.

A white light shot through from afar where Hans came earlier. Judging from the light, it was a flashlight.

'Is he here already?'

If it's that madman then he is a goner.

As the cold wind brushed his cheeks, he huddled behind the stone-cold rocks, covering his mouth with his hands and holding his breath.

Step, step—

The sound of footsteps echoed throughout Hans' hiding place. He can sense it. It was heading in his direction.

'Please! Please!'

"Hmm… It's a dead-end here. Where could have those two gone?"

Lights flickered back and forth where Hans was. Fortunately, the large rock covered his body, or else he might be a dead man now.

"Man, this sucks."

Hans closed his eyes, trying to calm his breathing. It was then the sound of steps slowly faded from his ears.

'Is he gone?'

Breathing a sound of relief, Hans felt sluggish. He lowered his body and picked up the box from the ground and slowly moved out between the large stones.

When he was about to turn away, he stopped.

Inhale—, exhale —

It was clearly a person breathing.

'Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!

Hans's complexion was deathly pale. He couldn't run anymore. Is there even an escape to his misery? His eyes formed fearful tears as they fall to his pale cheeks.

At that moment, a hand grabbed his shoulders.

"Guuhh—"

"Hey, hey it's me! It's me, Gab."

Hans's eyes stared at Gab's face before his breathing became slow and steady. Gab put his index finger above his lips signaling Hans to lower his voice.

"T-thank god!"

"Are you okay? We need to get out of here. The others might have been… dead by now and we… need to use this little time to get out. Let's wait for the dramas after we get out alright?"

Nodding his head, Hans wipes his tears. Gab's right, they need to get out of here as soon as possible. Silence permeated in the area, as the two started to move.

Step, step—

Soon they reached the boss entrance safely. The floor was littered with blood and the bodies of their comrades. Gab's expression was ugly looking at the corpses of his team. If not for his carelessness this wouldn't happen.

Letting out a soft groan, Gab grabbed their belongings.

"Let's go now, Han—… "

Gab shifted his gaze towards Hans beside him. Hans's expression was incredibly ugly as he pointed to the path ahead. He was deeply taken aback by this sight.

"What's wrong? Are you okay?"

"T-team leader…"

Gab's eyes followed Hans trembling gaze together with his flashlight.

"Fuck!"

"Hello, you two… hehehe."

Allan leaned on the wall together with his sword stabbed in one of the bodies.

"I thought that you might come back here so I waited. Hehehe how is it? I'm witty right?"

"If you want to kill me, then please let this child go."

Hans's trembling hand came to a halt as he looked at Gab's heroic expression.

"T-team leader… T-thank you!"

Although he didn't know if Allan will him go, Hans is full of gratitude that Gab is sacrificing himself for his safety.

Allan hearing Gab's words, slowly nodded as he picked his blade up.

"Okay."

'That's it?!'

Hans and Gab exchanged meaningful glances before shifting their gazes to Allan. They can't understand what this man is thinking in his mind. To prove his words Allan even made a way so that Hans could leave.

"T-thank you, sir, I-I won't tell what happened here. I s-swear!"

However, it seemed like Gab's thoughts suddenly became chaotic.

"I-I take back what I said! How about this? You let me go and you kill this child!? Then we're even."

Gab look shot as he stared at Allan's reaction. As for Hans, a chill run down his spine.

"T-team leader, w-why!?"

"My life is more important you idiot! I thought he wouldn't let us go even if we beg for mercy that's why I said it but…" Gab glanced back at Allan reaffirming his decision.

At the same time, Hans forced his stiff legs to retreat backward so he could run if push come to shove.

He doesn't know if he's betrayed or what.

"HAHAHAHA… is this what human instincts do when facing death? They become idiots!?"

The sound of laughter ended the beaming silence of the place. Allan slowly walked towards them while pulling his large sword behind.

"Look here, I don't plan to leave witness when I work so you don't have to fight. Don't worry both of you will die here."

Swish—

Hack—

Splash—

"Kuhuuuk!? —"

Gabs area above his neck suddenly vanished. His headless body powerlessly collapsed to the ground twitching. Hans's eyes grew extra large as the blood splattered to his face. He was forced to raise his head as he look at the terrifying murderer glaring at him.

"… Oh, fuck…"

Allan's eyes were looking down at him with a playful smile.

"Wanna play tag with me!?"

......….

Pant—

Pant—

Shring—

"Ha… Ha… I can't run anymore."

Hans's figure fell to the ground powerlessly as dust scattered to his body. His eyes were already bloodshot from the tears he let out earlier. He looked sideways at his bleeding shoulder. One of his hands was severed, while two of his toe fingers were cut as well.

He felt it.

He knew this was coming. Something will happen the moment he woke up with a heavy body earlier on his bed.

It was clearly a flag.

So why? Why did he insist to go? Was it because he need money?

In dungeons, death was always normal. In fact, the only reason most people want to be awakened is because of money, fame, and power.

No one really wanted to protect the world... perhaps there are some others but,

He didn't want to too. Protecting his family was his priority and besides becoming an awakened was the easy way to make money nowadays regardless of whether it's dangerous or not. It was hard but he carried on.

So why!? Why is he in this situation!?

He didn't want to die yet.

'Grandma would be left alone.'

But it's not like he can go back in time right? Even the people he trusted either left him or betrayed him.

"Is that it? Are you really running? You move like a snail. Hahahaha, are you a comedian by any chance?

However, it appears that Hans did not hear him. His gaze remained fixed on the dark ceiling, and as he clenched his fist, dirt began to enter his fingers, his vision began to blur. Hans felt as if his entire world was spinning due to the loss of blood from his severed hand.

But it seems like his troubles had just begun.

"Although there's no order to kill others, it's really my honor to end your life Hans the failure. Haha, that's quite a title you have…"

Allan raised the large sword and brought it down to Hans' feet.

Swing—

Bam—

"Arghhhhhh!!!!"

Raising the sword again, Allan hacked it down to the other feet after.

Bam—

"Argghhhh!!!!"

Hans screamed as loudly as he could due to the agonizing pain of having his limbs severed. His body twitched from time to time as his blood sprayed to the ground.

This was his first time experiencing excruciating pain throughout his life. If not for his strong will, he would have passed out now.

'Arghh!! It hurts! Its hurts!!'

He hated it. The world was unfair. He was a good man. He didn't rob when he's hungry or make dirty money when he's broke.

Throughout his life, he never hated himself for being weak.

But now, it seems like those thoughts started to become regrets as well.

"Wow! You didn't pass out? That's incredible!"

While lying powerlessly on the ground, Hans glared at Allan. Although his strength is comparable to regular people, he can still sense that Allan's strength exists beyond what a normal C-Class can do. He then shifted his gaze to Allan's eyes which were filled with joy and excitement.

He must've done similar 'jobs' to others as he enjoyed torturing his victims.

Cough—

"Blegh—"

Coughing up blood, Hans slowly closed his eyelids.

'I love you so much, Grandma.'

He can't undo what was done. She always told him, "Don't be afraid, everything happens for a reason child.", every time he visits her hospital room, tired and weak.

Just like now, just like his life, maybe everything happens for a reason.

Hans smiled widely as he thought of these things. He lightly opened his eyes only to meet a slowly moving large sword towards his head but his eyes were not afraid. Not long after, his eyes shifted towards the dark ceiling.

Like a movie, his life flashed before his eyes.

.........
