Squidbeak Saviors: Prologue

The date was July 25th, 12015. The sun was shining bright and the breeze was pleasantly warm. Inside the peaceful area of Blackbelly Ridge, a group of humanoid squids called Inklings were living their daily, standard life. The citizens of this town enjoyed their sleepy surroundings to their fullest, including the nicest boy around: Roenaldo. Living with his parents and his 18 year old brother Sira, Roenaldo always made sure to do his part in the household. For the most part, he was content with the average lifestyle that he experienced in his town; his family was financially stable and never faced anything harmful. It seemed like a norm that anyone would be happy to be a part of, but somewhere deep inside Roenaldo, it wasn't enough. Oftentimes, he felt bored with his idyllic life.

Eventually, while sitting on the couch watching television, he came across an advertisement featuring the hot new Inkopolis Square. "Hey squidkids," the television blared, "Are you looking for a little spice in your life? Hoping to be a significant person in the world? If you are, there's no better place to look than Inkopolis Plaza!" Roenaldo was intrigued by this, so he listened further. The commercial proceeded to boast about the various fashion shops and activities found in that city, including the most prevalent feature: Turf Wars. Roenaldo was awed as he witnessed the demonstration shown on screen, the battler's ink spraying in multiple directions, weapons being used to their full potential, all in an orchestrated battle of skill. As Roenaldo was taking all of this in, his older brother walked into the room. "Whatcha watching, bro?" he inquired. "Only the most exciting thing that I've seen in my entire life!" Roenaldo whispered excitedly. "You've got to see this, it's amazing!" Sira watched until the end, remarking "Wow, this sure looks interesting" "I know right?!" exclaimed Roenaldo, "That place is the bomb!" Suddenly, Roenaldo paused in realization, coming across a major revelation. "…Do you think that I could go there?" he asked. "Yeah, sure." Sira said, "A lot of my friends have already gone there!" "I dunno if our folks would be too happy about it though." This was true, Roenaldo realized. His parents were very protective of their two children. "But don't worry dude," assured Sira, "I can work something out. I have quite a way with words." "Alright then, good luck trying to sway them." sighed Roenaldo. He carried that hope with him as he tucked himself in for sleep at night.

Meanwhile, Sira was talking things out with his parents, testifying that life in this sleepy town is not enough for an aspiring boy. His parents considered this fact, for even they could notice that this seemingly perfect life was boring and uneventful. Finally, after a compelling discussion, Sira's parents conceded, they would allow Roenaldo to depart for greener pastures. He had been shown to be determined in completing his work at home after all, so he would be ready for life in the outside world. Arrangements were made for him to leave the following week.

The next week, Roenaldo awoke to find his brother standing in the doorway with a passport in his hand. "Mission accomplished." He said grinning. A wide smile crept onto Roenaldo's face as his quivering hands reached for the ticket. He was too giddy to speak. "No need to thank me," Sira said, "Just be sure to kick some butt out there. You better start packing your bags; it's a long bus ride to Inkopolis." Without skipping a beat, Roenaldo went straight to his suitcase, filling it with his essentials, including a picture of his family so that he wouldn't get lonely. Before he stepped out of the house, he made sure to say his farewells to his family, embracing them in one final group hug. They all wished him luck before Roenaldo triumphantly ventured to the nearest bus on it's way to the ultimate destination.
