4 Chapter 4

After probably a good three miles, I turned back, finding that when I reached the pier, I was famished. I got a burger and ate it at pier’s end, out among the fishermen. After that, I headed home.

Reece’s car was still absent, which didn’t surprise me. He probably wanted to fuck in Tracy’s apartment because he always said he loved slumming, though he rarely did it. The car was likely packed and they were having one for the road.

It was as I turned off my car’s engine that I saw my future. It snuck up to slap me with the obvious, and I laughed at not having seen it sooner.

Once inside, I grabbed a Coke, then sat in the kitchen to text Robin that she need not list the house. I would be moving north to take up residence.

She texted back.

Robin: Whoa! Talk about a surprise, but you’re the boss.

Me: Once the tenants are gone, have the place cleaned and leave the key in the usual spot. I’ll let you know when I’m heading north.
