18 The Result

Violet merely smiled as she listened to Hannah, selling off all the good points about her younger brother, Ryan.

She was not interested in Ryan, but Violet thought that it would not be so bad to learn a few things about Ryan.

It was said that you have to know your enemy well to win a battle.

Since she had agreed to be in this pretend relationship with Ryan Chen, she had to learn a little bit about him.

Then, their lies would become believable.

After a while, someone knocked on the door and Violet's mother, Anna, walked into the wardroom with another woman beside her.

It did not take Violet a long time to recognize the woman as Ryan's mother, Audrey Luo. Violet flashed a stiff smile when he saw that the older woman was looking at her.

"Violet," Audrey called her name as she walked closer. "How are you feeling?" She looked at the bandage around Violet's head with a hint of worry.

"I'm alright," Violet answered lightly. "It was just a small injury."

Anna stared at her daughter in disbelief.

Her daughter fell in the kitchen and came to the hospital with blood dripping from her head. And this girl was still saying that it was a small injury.

"What did the doctor say? Audrey asked.

Violet smiled happily. "The doctor said, if my medical report is good, I will be able to leave the hospital today. The report should come out anytime soon."

She could not wait to leave the hospital. Violet found that staying around the hospital and doing nothing was almost torturing her.

"That's good." Audrey heaved a breath of relief. She turned to Anna and smiled.

Violet watched as her mother chatted with Ryan's mother about her body's condition.

A while ago, her wardroom was empty. Right now, there are too many people around.

Fortunately, she was staying in a single room. Otherwise, this could be considered as disturbing another patient.

Knock! Knock!

Violet turned to the door upon hearing the knock. A while after, someone pushed the door and a smiling face peeked at the door. Violet's eyes lit up when she saw Sarah and Evan at the door.

"Hello." Sarah walked in and greeted everyone in the room.

Anna waved her hand to her niece, motioning for her to come closer. Anna introduced both Sarah and Evan to Ryan's family members.

Both Sarah and Evan came to the hospital from the bakery. Knowing that there would be a few people around, both of them brought along a box of cupcakes and let everyone share it around.

"How are you feeling?" Evan asked as he turned to his friend. His brow furrowed when she saw the bandage around Violet's head.

"I'm fine." Violet leaned over to his friend and spoke, "It's just a little blood. I think I can come to work tomorrow."

Anna frowned when she overheard her daughter's words. "Nonsense. You still have to stay home and rest properly before you can think of going to work."

Violet heaved a sigh. When she thought that her mother was not looking, Violet turned to Sarah again and rolled her eyes.

Their private exchange made Sarah laugh.

Seeing that Evan was around, Violet decided to talk to him about the bakery's business while she was away.

Anna could only heave a sigh when she saw that her daughter was too concerned about her bakery.

Not too long after, someone else knocked on the door and pushed the door open.

Violet frowned when she saw Ryan walking into the room.

But a while later, she recalled that Ryan was here with her medical report.

"Ryan!" Audrey looked at her son before noticing the files in his hand. "Is that Violet's medical report?"

Ryan lowered his gaze to look at the documents in his hand. "Mhm..."

"How is it?" Anna was anxious when she heard that it was her daughter's report. "Everything is good, right?"

Ryan flipped through the document briefly. "Her results are good. The reports showed that there was nothing wrong with her body or head. She's fine and can be discharged anytime now."

Sarah turned to her cousin and cheered.

Meanwhile, Violet looked at her mother and sighed. "See, I told you that there's nothing wrong. Mom, you were exaggerating."

She merely bumped her head and bled.

However, her mother requested for all tests to be done before she could leave the hospital.

Violet still thinks that it was such a waste of time and resources.

"There's nothing wrong with being careful," Audrey spoke. "Violet, your mother is just worried about you. That is why she wanted the doctor to run a few tests."

Violet heaved a sigh and nodded obediently. "Mmm... Auntie, I understand."

Ryan stayed around to chat with his mother. Then, he glanced at his wristwatch and made an excuse to leave. "Mom, I still have a few works to do. I'll be going off first."

Audrey was about to say something to her son, but he had already escaped before she could say a word. She turned to her daughter, Hannah, and spoke, "Look at your brother."

Hannah laughed. "Mom, Ryan probably sensed that he's in danger if he was to stay here for a while longer."

"Nonsense." Audrey shot a look at her daughter. "It was just chatting with me. What sort of danger could there be?" Her gaze fell on Violet again and a warm smile curled on her lips. "Auntie was worried about you earlier. Violet, you and Ryan had agreed to date for a month. But now that you are injured, it would be difficult for you to go on a date."

The corner of Violet's lips started to twitch.

She had thought that she had escaped a troublesome situation when she was finally allowed to leave the hospital. Who would have thought that Ryan's mother would bring up her dating arrangement with Ryan now?

Her heartbeat accelerated.

Violet could sense that what Audrey was going to say next would not be anything good.
