48 Chapter 48: Remember the devil is by my side.

Daisy had been missing her dad and friends for a while. She had not met them for a really long time as she was busy with her shoot and other stuffs going on in her life. So today, she decided to meet her father this Saturday and plan something with her friends on Sunday.

Since she had four days free in her hand now so she might as well occupy her time with the people she was missing.

On Saturday, she put on a casual sleeveless beige floral dress that ended just above her knees and matching ankle strap heels. She combed her wavy hairs and tied it in a cute half ponytail leaving a few strands loosely hanging on her face.

Daisy informed Xavier through call that she was leaving and then got into her car. The driver drove her to her father's mansion that was twenty minutes away from their place.

As the car halted in front of the Villa, the driver came out to open the door for her and she got down gracefully. She walked towards the door and rang the bell. One of the maid opened the door for her and smiled at her.

"Welcome, young miss", the maid bowed to her. Daisy smiled and gave a small nod then walked inside. "I'll call master for you", the maid said and went upstairs while Daisy looked around the Villa that did not change at all.

"Oh, Mrs. Knight is here", came an unwanted voice which Daisy least wanted to hear right now. She was in a very good mood but now her mood was ruined because of her step mother who would not leave a chance to show that Daisy wasn't worth of having anything.

Her step mother came towards her. She was wearing an expensive dress and her face was caked with makeup. One could clearly tell that she spends a lot of time and money in salon to look youthful.

"Hello, auntie", Daisy did her best to be polite but she knew her step mother would cause some chaos for sure. "I heard your first movie will be released in March", the woman said with a hint of something in her voice that Daisy could not comprehend.

"Yes. I hope you will come to watch my first film", Daisy said with a smile. "Are you saying that my daughter is nothing compared to you?", her step mother said angrily. Daisy was confused as to when she said such a thing.

"I never...", Daisy was cut off by her step mother. "Never what? Stella is a new model but just because you have your rich husband backing you, you want to show off?"

Daisy sighed deeply and slapped herself in mind and cursed herself for even bothering to talk to the woman. She decided it was better to ignore her step mother so she quietly sat on one of the sofa waiting for her father who had not come for ten minutes.

The maid who went to call her father had told her that he will come in five minutes but he did not appear yet.

"You think Xavier married you out of love or interest? You must be dreaming. He doesn't love you. He married you out of pity. Do you think a man like him will take interest in you?", her step mother said and laughed at her.

Daisy frowned at her words. "What do you mean?", Daisy asked furrowing her brows.

"How would I know? Ask your husband what purpose he had for marrying you."

"He loves me", Daisy said confidently. "For sure. Let's see for how much time he can tolerate your tantrums. He will throw you away once he is no more interested in you. What does he lacks? He has everything and can get any woman. Why would he need you?"

Daisy fell silent hearing those words. It was right that he had everything and could get any woman who would stand by his side fearlessly and even much beautiful than her. Will he throw her aside once he is bored? But didn't he say he loves her?

'Whatever happens. Never believe in anything anyone says you until you get the proper explanation for it. Do not believe if anyone tries to make you go up against me. There will be many people who will try to put wedge in our relationship but you have to trust me. I love you and I will never let you go.' Xavier's words echoed in her mind and she was relieved.

"You don't have to worry about me. Me and my husband are doing really good. If we have any problems, we will sort it out. You don't have to give me advise and keep them for Stella. She needs them more given she has a sugar daddy but I have a permanent man by my side", Daisy said arrogantly.

Her step mother glared at her angrily but Daisy smirked instead of getting scared. "Remember the devil is by my side", Daisy said with an arrogant smile and stood up heading upstairs to her father's room.

Daisy knocked on the door and after about two minutes the door opened revealing her father. He smiled looking at her. Daisy hugged him tightly and leaned her head on his shoulder. "I missed you, daddy", she said like a spoiled child and pouted her lips.

"How have you been?", he asked. "I've been very good. What took you so long?", she asked with a slight frown. "I got an important call", he answered to which she nodded in understanding.

"Xavier didn't come with you?", he asked and she shook her head. "He wanted to come but he had some urgent meeting to attend so he did not come", she said and they went downstairs to the living area and sat on the sofa next to each other.

The maids got all the favorite snacks of Daisy and served them in front of her on the coffee table. Daisy's eyes sparkled upon seeing all of her favorite snacks. She picked a plate of her favorite chips and munched on them.

"Are you injuries fine now?", her father asked to which she nodded. "Dad, the five year meeting is approaching next month", Daisy reminded her father.

Every five year, all the companies vote for the upcoming CEO and this year was an important year for Evan's Group because the next heir of the company will be taking over. No one knows who will become the next CEO.

Her father hummed and nodded at her sentence. "Are you... going to choose Stella?", she asked slowly and cautiously. "Are you here to talk business with me?", he asked with a small laughter.

"No. I was just asking", she said with a shrug. "The best will be taking over the business", her father said with a deeper meaning which she did not catch on. She wondered if her father will choose her but she was aware that her step mother will never let that happen given how much the woman adored her daughter.

Daisy knew that her step mother do everything in her power so Daisy won't get the company. The woman had been talking good about Stella for so many years just so Stella will get the most inheritance.

Daisy spent the afternoon with her father and then left in the evening. She did not think about anything much about the business or stuffs knowing her father well that he will not side with someone who would not be able to manage anything.

It wasn't like she wanted the business but its just she did not want it to go into wrong hands. Specially when she knows that the business came from her mother's money so she did not want Stella to take over.

For some reason, she felt like something was going to happen which wouldn't be good but she couldn't point out what was wrong. She kept thinking about the things her step mother said to her today.
