3 WHAT MAKES "KRISHNA" A GOD?

Krishna is the 8th avatar of Lord Vishnu, who resides above the realm of heaven in the Golak Dham. It is the 10th and the ultimate dimension of this universe. He came on this earth to teach its inhabitants compassion, love, tenderness and put an end to several evils.We celebrate Janmashtami to commemorate the occasion of his birth. He was the purna avatar of Lord Vishnu and embodied 16 divine attributes (also known as 16 Kalas). Each of his quality is a lesson that we humans should learn to make this world a better and happier place.

Let us have a look at all the 16 Kalas of Lord Krishna:

Daya- It stands for compassion for one and all. Krishna was the ocean of compassion who felt for all living things. And to become a better human being, we should harbour the qualityof compassion within us.

Dhairjya- It stands for 'Patience' which is a quality that we all require in life to achieve anything, and hence a very important virtue to possess.

Kshama- In English, it means 'Forgiveness'.

This Kala teaches that all who are penitent and is seeking forgiveness deserves to be forgiven.

Nyaya-It means 'Justice' This is one of the prime principles which can eliminate evil off this earth. Justice has to be done; even if it looks harsh at the moment, it will lead you to the greater good.

Nirapeksha- It signifies 'Impartiality'. We human beings are a biased race. We must come out of that shell and learn to be impartial. This virtue will enable us to distinguish right from wrong.

Niraskata- It denotes 'detachment'. In Hinduism, we believed that all worldly pleasure is 'tamasic' (base) in nature. And to reach God by attaining a higher level of spirituality, we need detachment from the worldly matter.

Tapasya- This stands for 'Meditation'. It is a way to calm the mind down and walk further on the road of spirituality.

Aparchitta- This means 'invincibility'. It is not attainable by any human being, and so we must acknowledge him as our protector and worship him!

Danasheel- It means 'Charitable'. One should be charitable and donate wholeheartedly to the needy and the poor.

Saundarjyamaya

- It denotes 'Epitome of Beauty'. The Lord was inordinately beautiful, both internally and externally. And we, as the creations of Lord Vishnu, should try to have a beautiful heart, irrespective of how we look externally.

Nrityajna- It means 'the best dancer'. Dance is an art that is considered a virtue in the Hindu culture. It emanates beauty and grace.

Sangitajna- It means 'The best singer'. The whole Gokul would be mesmerized when Lord Krishna sang and played his flute. It is yet another virtue that is highly revered in the Hindu culture.

Neetibadi- It denotes 'someone who stands by morals and ideals'.We, as humans, must follow moral values to lead a better life.

Satyabadi- It means one who tells the truth.Truth is above all religions. It takes us a step closer to God. So, we must speak the truth in all situations.

Sarvagnata - He was the best in all art forms. We humans might not be able to master all art forms. But we can learn a few to please him.

After all, he is a lover of all things that are

beautiful in nature.

Sarvaniyanta - Krishna was the ultimate master of all. And we should be grateful to him for creating us and bestowing us with this beautiful life. These above 16 kalas made Lord Krishna the true Lord. If we are able to even follow few of his qualities (teachings), we will attain the real happiness of life. Indeed our life will be filled with calmness and joy and will attract only positive things. Apart from his Bal Gopal face, which is a manifestation of true love, innocence, beauty, and truth, he also depicts a true Yogi by making us understand that is important to forgive, be patient, include detachment in life, have ,orals and ideals, meditate and be kind. If we start imbibing few of them every year and practice them to the fullest, it will become our habit andwe will definitely then progress on Spiritual Path.
