23 Storage

It has been three days since Wes's house burned down. We were getting some furniture that Wes had put up in storage space, we just needed some extra helping hands to load them onto the truck and bring it back to his new home.

"Would you look at that?! Anthony actually showed up!" Bryanna shouted.

"Well yes, what did you think? That he wasn't? I told you that I can always count on him."

The guy is always punctual and hates to be late. If someone sets up a time with him to do something and the person does not show up, he gets upset and gives the person a piece of his mind.

"Right on time."

Anthony adjusted his glasses, "I always am, and you know that." He looks around the living room, "Where are Regan and Wes?"

"Regan said that she will be here later, the parent of the kid that she is babysitting had to stay after work for a bit because her relief didn't show up. Wes is in his room and told me to wake him up when you arrived."

"Well then, hurry up and wake him up. I have training that I want to get started with him as soon as possible!"

"You do know that we need to bring the furniture here from the storage unit first before any training could begin."

With eagerness in his voice, he shouted, "Let's go!"

The existence of witchcraft is all that this guy wants to know.

Bryanna limped to go and wake Wes up.

"How is she going to be any help to us if she can barely walk?" asked Anthony while pointing at Bree.

"She's not. That is why there are three guys here to do the heavy lifting. I specifically told her that I did not want her to do anything that requires some straining until she fully recovers. I don't want her to end up hurting herself and not be able to perform spells at full power, every person counts. As Wes says, 'I do not want a weak witch around me'."

"I see! Power is everything to Wes! I like it!"

"Calm down, that is not what he meant. When he says that he does not want a weak witch around him, he means that he needs you at full strength. Being powerful is not what he was talking about."

Anthony grins at me, "Just know that if what he does is true, I want to become even better than you, and that also includes you as well Bree."

I sighed, "That's fine I don't care. You can be better than anyone here, even me."

"Well, that's no fun if you are willing to just hand over the title like that. I want the competition to help push me to do better. I need you to be serious and give me a challenge. I will not be accepting no for an answer from anyone of you."

"Then the world is your competition, there are extremely powerful witches on this planet, and you need to be able to take them down if they decide to come after you."

"Now that's what I'm talking about!"

Wes walks into the living room yawning, "What's all the excitement about?"

Anthony, who had no filter blurted out, "So you're the almighty and all-powerful Wes, I came to become your student and learn the ways of witchcraft, that is if it actually exists!"

Wes already looked annoyed, "Damn it! Why did you bring me a dumbass to learn for? I already have to deal with you." Wes pointed at me.

Being sarcastic I said, "Tell me how you really feel about me…" I tell you; Wes can never say anything nice about me in front of people. I just want one time for him to do it! Is it too much for me to ask for?!

"Come on you three, let's go get the stuff."

Wes walks out of the house with Bree and Anthony close behind. When I stepped on the front porch and I asked, "Aren't you going to lock the front door?"

Wes looks at me crazy, "What the hell are they going to steal? The house? Oh, you poor child."

I stand corrected. Not one nice thing.

As we were getting ready to get in the truck, I decided to ride in the back to allow Bree and Anthony to ride inside the truck. It can only hold three people inside anyway. Even though I was riding in the back, I could hear their conversation as clearly as if I were inside sitting next to them and the wind didn't much affect the sound.

We arrived at the storage place and Wes put in the code to open the gate to allow us to drive in. We drove to the middle section of the place and Wes parked the truck in reverse in front of an orange garage door wide enough to hold two vehicles. At the bottom left and right corner of the door were two locks holding the door down. Once Wes opened it, he had boxes on top of boxes and furniture everywhere.

"Where do we start?" I asked him.

"We are just here for the couches, bed, and dressers. If we have time, we can come and get some of the boxes later."

As I was staring at all the boxes he had, I saw a giant safe in the back corner, "What's in the safe?"

"I keep some supplies in there and tools."

Someone tapped my right shoulder softly, "You might want to tell your friend over there to stop trying to make love to the safe. Since Wes said what was in there, he ran and started to hump it." Bryanna pointed at Anthony, "I am just going to stay away from him for now."

"Anthony?! What the hell are you doing man?! Get away from that damn safe and help us move this freaking furniture!"

The guy completely ignored me, but I can't ignore the crap he was telling the safe, "I'm going to make love to you if you turn out to be the real deal. You want me to turn your dial you freaking whore? You like how I twist it don't you? You dirty girl you."

Oh, brother… We have completely lost him.

"Out the way!" Wes told us.

I turned around to see Wes lift and put a three-seater couch on his back and loaded it in front of Bree and me. I already knew that Wes is a powerful witch and watching him move that couch by himself also made me realize something, I wonder how strong Wes really is.

"I didn't know your godfather was so strong?!"

"That's nothing! Watch this!" I told Bree trying to be competitive. I cannot let Wes outdo me like that! I have to find the biggest and heaviest thing in here to move. I looked at Anthony who was still talking dirty to the safe.

That is what I will move!

I pushed Anthony out of the way, "Move aside!"

"Hey! I wasn't done with that!"

Wes yelled at me from the front of the room, "Hold on! That thing is too heavy for even me to move! Wait for me and Anthony to give you a hand and-"

"AAAHHH!" I picked up the safe and carried it on my back. The thing is, I was only able to take one step slowly at a time. It was heavy and I was struggling, but I am not a bitch! I brought it to the front and loaded the thing on the truck myself.

"That is amazing! The safe weighs about five hundred pounds with the stuff inside…" Wes told me.

"I know I said I want to be better than anyone, but I would hate to get Paul mad and have to fight him. I am not as strong as he is, but I will catch up with the proper training!"

"This guy really is full of himself…" whispered Bree.

We finished loading the bed, dresser, and some of the boxes. Me, not thinking things straight decided to cover every inch of the truck bed with stuff and as we were getting ready to leave, it hit me that I did not leave enough space for me to sit. The entire ride home I was holding onto the couch for dear life. Wes was turning corners and speeding down the street on purpose. I just know it!

We pulled into Wes's driveway and a black and light blue car was parked there.

"It looks like I have a customer waiting for me."

"No, you don't." I told Wes as I jumped off the back of the truck, "That's Rae."

"Hey! Sorry I took so long. They had to call someone in on their day off to relieve the kid's parent that I was babysitting."

"It's okay, your good. I mainly wanted you to come today so that you could see where Wes stays and where you will mainly be doing your training." I point at Wes, "That is my godfather."

Wes came over and stood next to me, "Wes, this is Regan, or Rae for short. Rae, this is Wes."

"So, you are the one that Paul frequently talks about. It's nice to finally put a face to the name."

Ragan stared at me with her hands on her hips, "What have you told him about me?"

"What?! Nothing! Just that you are from class and wanted to learn magic! Honestly!"

Rae not believing me, "That didn't sound like it was nothing?!" Rae said as she squinted her eyes at me.

I nervously backed off, "I have to help take the stuff off the truck!"

"Hey! Come back here! We aren't done yet!"

That damn Wes! He did that on purpose!

Wes, Anthony, and I offloaded the entire truck while Rae stayed with Bree in the living room. We sat down next to them, and Wes finally spoke.

"I never thought I would see the day that I would have these many apprentices." He paused for a moment to look at every single one of us, "As you know, I am a witch that dabbles in the mystical arts. I know that all of you have come to learn my craft, but before we get started, I would like for every single one of you to answer my questions with honesty. This is how it is going to work in order for you to learn. First off, I have to be willing to teach you and of course, you being Paul's friends, it is an automatic yes from me. I will explain why I must say yes later. Secondly, you must want to learn and be sure of it. I cannot force you into it, only you can answer that. So, before I can continue, I must ask the three of you, are you sure that this is what you want to do? Because once we start, we cannot stop for any reason, and we cannot go back to how things used to be."

Wes stayed quiet while everyone answered yes.

"Good. Finally, you must get approval to learn."

Anthony raised his hand, "I have a question. Who exactly are we getting approval from? I thought that it all came down to you."

"You will see when the time comes. For now, I would like to celebrate my newfound students with a barbecue!"

Everyone is excited and I can see how much this means to each one of them, but the truth is, I am worried about them because they do not know what is to come.
