1 The Dream

Today is the day that everyone has been waiting for. The lights were bright and the cheers of the crowd were so overwhelming. Reporters, camera's and TV stations were also seen everywhere to cover the highest level of high school volleyball. It is the high school national championship against our longest and greatest rival, the archer's.

One by one, each of the players were called and loud cheers were given to each and every player. Since I was the ace and the captain of the team although I'm just a freshman, I was called last. "And now, let's welcome the Eagle's ace spiker. Sebastian LeClaire!" the announcer said. The crowd went wild and I ran up to the centre of the court.

Our journey to the championship wasn't easy. We had losses due to some injuries that I and some of my teammates got due to overwork but we finally made it.

The referee blowed the whistle to signal the start of the game. John, a junior and our opposite hitter was the first to serve the ball. He did a floater serve straight to the other teams' ace attacker. Jake, the archer's ace hitter successfully received the ball and when the set went up, he powerfully hit the ball straight to our court and scored. A floater serve came to our court and my teammate successfully received it. Our setter, Michael set up the ball to me and hit the ball straight to their court to get back the point.

The first set has been close the whole time until the latter part of the set. Michael told me the play he wants to do and I agreed. The ball was put into play and after a perfect receive from our libero, I quickly took my approach in order to do the combination play that Michael wanted. I successfully hit the ball in an open space of the opponent's court. The incredible play we made boosted our confidence and with the momentum on our side, we didn't let go of the chance and took the first set.

The second and third set was the same as the first set. Intense and very close. The ace of the opponent has been playing great and has been scoring everywhere in the court. This great game of his continued and took those two sets.

Before going into the fourth set, our coach was mad at how we played. "What are you guys doing! You had the momentum from the first set but the ERRORS killed it." Our coach shouted. He turned to me and said "You got to take charge! You're the captain and the ace! Show them how it's done" I nodded and quickly told my teammates to relax and do what we did in practice.

The fourth set began and my teammates are playing the same as the first set. We took the first 5 points and the crowd went wild. We're back in the game. Our plays became faster that made it hard to for the opponents to block our hits. Now, we only need one point in order to get the fourth set and extend it to 5th set. After the ball was put into play, we tried to block the attack of opponents ace Luckily we touched it and slowed down the ball but the trajectory of the ball was going far. Our libero ran to the ball and successfully dig it up. I called the ball and Michael quickly set up the ball to me. "I need to get this point or else they'll have another chance to stop our momentum and take the championship."I took my approach but my attack went straight into the block and the ball hit me back on face.

I felt my back lying but not on the floor but on something soft. I felt a hit on my face and realized that I was just dreaming. My mom was slapping me in order to wake me up from my sleep.
