Truck

"Have the 7:30 office prepared by the end of the day. We have the meeting first thing in the morning and I don't want to look a fool in front of everyone." An old lady scolded. Her grey hair pulled into a bun and her mean face complimented with an even meaner makeup look." Have your data ready for the analytics teams first thing in the morning, and don't forget my coffee." In front of the old woman stood Lila, who had a rather nervous look on her face. She stood there for a second, prompting the old lady to look up. "Well, what is it?"

"Ma'am, I'm not your personal assistant. I'm part of the analytics team." That was brave, she should pat herself on the back for that. Really brave indeed. The old woman stood up. Her heels clicked on the tiled floor and her pencil skirt moved when her legs did. Lila breathed in deeply preparing herself for whatever was going to happen. "Fired. You are fired!" Lila stood there with a shocked look on her face as the old woman returned to her seat. She stiffly turned around and walked out of the office into the workspace area.

She went over to her desk and brought out the box that had fired written on it. She thought that this day would come soon. Not this soon, but soon. She placed her work journal, laptop, pencil case and analytics files in the box and covered it. She grabbed her beige trench coat and car keys and proceeded to exit the building. She walked through the car pack with a solemn look on her face. When she reached her car, she opened the passenger door and placed the box on that seat. She closed the door and entered the driver's seat and drove off.

The night was young and the city was beautifully lit up. She turned right and parked her car at a local convenience store. Her stomach was calling to her and she should answer those prayers. She entered greeting the workers here. She grabbed packets of ramen and corndogs and went to the till to pay. Grabbing her items she heated one corn dog to eat on the way. She started eating and entered the car once again. She drove off. She was actually unemployed. What a funny thing to be. Lila is 24 and unemployed.

She kept driving, her mind being elsewhere and completely missing the red light. Big mistake. It was way too late to do anything about the horn that honked and the truck that was speeding. When the vehicles collided, pain rippled through her body. What a completely shitty day. Her consciousness was leaving. Getting fired and dying on the same had to be some sort of world record. The truck driver got out and tried to check up on her. Between the blood loss and the inhaling of smoke, she was destined to meet her match. Death. Everything went dark.

Welcome to a romance novel that follows the villainess isekai trope with a twist.
