Chapter 70: Another Week Passed

[3rd POV]

An entire week had passed since the Revelation had occurred. With a few things happening.

For one, Korra ended up telling Tenzin about the Revelation, and what had happened. With Tenzin then going to the Republic City Council, that basically ran the city. The reactions it got was...not pretty, especially amongst the citizens after Korra's infiltration of "The Revelation" had happened. As more and more citizens were beginning to believe in Amon and what he was preaching.

Gwen during this time was...not really paying any attention to it. Instead, she was focusing on the training of not only Korra, but now Bolin. How did that happen? Well...

[Flashback]

Standing in the training grounds of Airbender Island, Gwen was watching as Korra attempted lightning bending for what was probably the hundredth time. She was failing miserably due to her not having very good emotional control, which was why whenever she was about to shock the hell out of herself, Gwen immediately stopped her, or just absorbed the lightning.

Something Korra had questioned, with Gwen only saying that it was an advanced technique she herself had created.

"So...why was I called here? Not that I'm mad about that or anything! You did save my life, afterall" Bolin asked, as he stood next to Gwen.

In response, Gwen turned to the teen with a small grin "Simply put, I'm going to be training you to Lavabend"

"HUH?!"

Both Korra and Bolin looked at her with wide eyes.

[Flashback end]

It was safe to say, Bolin hated his life now, as Gwen absolutely hammered into the teen in order to get him to Lavabend. She herself didn't have any characters that could lavabend, so she was forced to learn it herself. Something that turned out to be...very easy, thanks to her various pieces of knowledge, firebending, and it being a simple phase-change of the earth.

And it turned out that Bolin had quite the talent in Lavabending, as it only took 5 days of training for him to change Earth into Lava for the first time, which had completed his respective quest. Gwen decided to keep training him though, as he seemed to desperately need proper Earth Bending teachings.

This, of course, got a number of questions from Korra and Bolin, but Gwen masterfully ignored every single one of them.

From completing that quest, she had also completed another hidden quest, one that was very rewarding.

The fact that she was getting so many rewards at this point, was all Gwen needed to see, to know that she would be getting her system evolution quest very soon. Not to mention, UL characters were becoming less and less useful to her. As she found that SL characters tended to have more helpful pieces of knowledge, like unknown martial arts, sciences, and other stuff like that.

She still planned on saving up to 150-200 UL Tickets of course.

From completing the quest with Bolin, she ended up getting another more...difficult one.

Metal Bending for Dummies

Details - Teach Bolin how to metal bend, making him stronger than his canon counterpart.

Rewards - 15 UL Tickets.

That quest was certainly harder, as he couldn't metal bend in canon due to his attitude, something that was sort of important to Metalbending. As he had tried to metalbend many times before, but could never accomplish it, partially because of this preconceived notion that he wasn't able to. Gwen believed that the only reason he wasn't able to accomplish it in the first place, was due to his lack of training from a proper Earthbending teacher, making him lacking in the basics, the opposite of Korra, who overly relies on them.

So, with that, Gwen set out to make training a bit easier. Korra would help him understand the traditional basics of Earthbending, and he would help Korra understand Lavabending, through his perspective. This, of course, gave her yet another set of quests.

Lavabending for Avatar Dummies

Details - Teach Avatar Korra how to Lavabend, making her the first proper Avatar Lavabender in quite some time. And giving her a new weapon against future foes.

Rewards - 15 UL Tickets.

Metal bending for Avatar Dummies

Details - Teach Avatar Korra how to Metalbend earlier than in canon. While also making her the first Avatar Metalbender in history.

Rewards - 15 UL Tickets.

The amount of quests she was receiving was something Gwen was very happy about, especially since they were all fairly easy, thanks to her literally having tens of thousands of years of teachings in her head. Both in terms of emotions and through literal teaching.

During this week, besides training Bolin and Korra, Gwen had also been very busy dealing with the criminal groups in Republic City.

And it turned out that they were...laughably easy to wipe out. A majority of them were quite small and were basically just thugs who relied far too much on their bending. Only 10 or so had more than 10-15 members. Something that made her job VERY easy.

Within 5 days, more than half the city criminal groups had magically been found in front of the police headquarters, wrists bound, mouths covered, and pictures taped to their chests with them committing crimes, as well as full-blown files on the ones that were committing even worse crimes. Something that the citizens were very happy about, but the Police and Lin Beifong were not so happy about. Mainly because an unknown individual was basically making them look like a bunch of incompetent morons.

Some had said it was Amon, but that was quickly proven false after several witnesses had gotten a look at a cloaked figure metal-bending the criminals to the spot she always tied them up at. They had only seen her because she allowed them to, as she didn't want Amon to try and take credit for what she was doing.

Gwen had also begun to find and collect various plants native to the Avatar World, and had begun to plant them inside of the tower of fates garden. She did this mainly for cooking, but also because she wanted to see what effects they could have on the other plants.

Currently, Gwen was standing in front of Korra, with the latter having just finished her training for the day. She was getting closer and closer to achieving metal bending, with her lava bending still needing some work. And her lightning generation...best not to talk about that one. Bolin had already left for the day, having completed his training for the day. His metal bending wasn't getting much better, but Gwen hoped to get his mentality in the right place, before the Equalists are fully taken care of.

"So, what is it you wanted to talk about?" Gwen asked, as Korra asked to talk to her about something before the training.

"Oh-Um, I was wondering if you'd go to this gala with me later? Tarrlok is throwing it for me, and isn't really giving me the option to say no" Korra asked, looking to the side in obvious nervousness.

"Tarlok's the one who's a part of the council right? The one who's doing that task force for hunting down the Equalists?" Gwen asked, to which Korra nodded to.

"Alright, I'll go" Gwen added, shrugging. She didn't have much else to do, and the girls were all doing there own things today, something about a "Girls day out" or something.

"Wait really?" Korra asked in slight shock, looking at Gwen in surprise.

"Yeah, I don't have much else to do. Plus it'll be fun to mess with all the rich snobs" Gwen said with a small grin, causing Korra to crack a small smile of her own.

"Alright, it's a date! It's at 6 tonight, I'll pick you up with Tenzin as he's coming too" Korra said with a happy smile, before her face went bright red, and before Gwen could even respond, she ran off with a "Gotta go bye!"

Watching her fleeing figure, Gwen just chuckled softly.

That's the end of the chapter!

Not sure how well this one was written, as it was basically just an intermission chapter before the Gala and the some other stuff. Her quests will be done with pretty quickly, and I plan on her turning either 100 or 150 UL tickets into NL Tickets, and then using the rest as normal. Not sure which one though.

The next chapter will be roughly the same length, if not shorter. As it will mostly be the gala and that's it.
