81 Chapter 81

[Third Person's PoV]

Gwen's whistling reverberated through the sewage system as she tugged on the web rope draped over her shoulders. Suspended from that web was the hibernating Lizard, who remained unconscious due to the cold Gwen had induced.

Glancing at the map on her HUD, Gwen then directed her gaze upward, spotting a manhole cover in the ceiling.

"Hijaiyah!" Gwen exclaimed as she leaped up, delivering a swift kick to the manhole cover and emerging onto the surface.

Surveying her surroundings, she nodded in recognition, realizing she was back in the underground subway station they had converted into their hideout.

Continuing to drag the Lizard behind her, Gwen made her way toward their main lab where Aria was stationed. Upon arrival, she noticed Peter's absence.

"Where's Peter?" she inquired.

"Daddy is checking the Rhino suit for any possible trackers it might have before bringing it here," Aria responded in her youthful tone, appearing on the main monitor.

"I see, so that means he's already done… in the meantime," Gwen muttered, laying the Lizard's body on a nearby table before retrieving a syringe.

Without hesitation, she punctured the Lizard's arm and began extracting its blood.

"Aria, start a file with the name 'Lizard cure' as I begin examining its blood," Gwen instructed.

"Might I suggest using this…?" Aria interjected, drawing Gwen's attention to the monitor where she had finished setting up the examination.

It displayed a file labeled 'Dr. Curt Conners, The Lizard.'

"What is this? Did you make it?" Gwen inquired.

"Nope," Aria replied proudly, enunciating the 'P.'

"Daddy-o made me copy all the files of every villain that Spider-Man had faced in that world and store them here so we can come up with a counter if any of them show up, or in this case, cure them."

"I see, so that contains that world's Lizard Cure. In that case, let's thoroughly examine this blood and use that cure as a reference for how to construct a cure for this one," Gwen remarked.

Just as Gwen was about to begin, Peter appeared with the Rhino suit over his shoulder.

"Big daddy came here bearing gifts!" Peter exclaimed before dropping off the suit in the corner.

"So what are you doing?" He asked after pulling off his mask and fixing his hair.

"I'm just about to start examining his blood," Gwen said as she placed it under her enhanced telescope.

"Aria, scan it and cross-reference it with what's in the file."

On her screen, a scanning bar appeared, filling up before switching to a cross-reference while using a DNA Helix to display the process.

"This Lizard has another DNA animal strand apart from a reptile. Upon closer examination, it appears to be from an axolotl, which seems to heighten his regenerative abilities," Aria informed them, displaying the Lizard's DNA Helix.

"With what we know now and the Lizard cure from that world, how long would it take to come up with a cure?" Gwen asked, her hand on her chin.

"It would take approximately 5 minutes, a maximum of 10," Aria replied, already working on it.

"Do we have everything we'll need?" Gwen turned towards Peter.

Peter nodded, "You know how I like to be prepared, so I managed to get every element available for future uses. I even had to get Aria to go into the black market to get some that were illegal to obtain."

Gwen nodded as she continued to study the Lizard's DNA. "Hey, do you think it would be alright to take more of his blood for future uses?"

"Why?" Peter asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Okay, I know this might seem crazy and like a very stupid, stupid idea, but if it works, this would be immensely helpful. Now, what if we use the Lizard's DNA and, with Aria's help, we come up with a serum that would give us the powers of different animals, like it did for the Lizard?"

Peter smirked when he heard her idea, before kissing the side of her head, "I love that big head of yours."

She swatted him on the arm for his comment, "Your head is big," she growled in retaliation.

"Which one?" Peter asked, wiggling his eyebrows in a suggestive manner.

Gwen blushed before glaring at Peter, "don't make jokes like that in front of Aria."

Peter simply raised his hands in surrender, "My bad, my bad."

"So anyways, what do you think?" Gwen asked to change the subject.

"I think we should go for it… but I'm kinda iffy about it. I mean right now we only have the powers of a spider and we're crazy strong as it is. Just imagine adding the powers of every other animal. But then can we still call ourselves Spider-Man?"

"Ah, I see what you mean… but although we would be getting different animal powers, it doesn't mean we have to change what we fundamentally started off with," she said while looking at Peter with a soft smile.

Peter smiled back before lowering his head and kissing her, "You're right, so let's do it. I just said I was iffy about it, not that I wouldn't do it."

Peter went and grabbed a couple more syringes and started drawing more blood before storing it in a freezing unit, where they kept all the other chemicals that needed to be in a cold climate to survive.

After he returned, Aria was already finished configuring another cure for their Lizard. So Gwen and Peter began to work together, moving around their labs mixing different chemicals.

Peter looked at the formula for a second and decided to tweak it ever so slightly. After a few minutes of mixing everything together, Peter and Gwen were left with a green-colored syringe.

Peter aimed the syringe around his neck before plunging it and injecting the cure.

After a few long seconds, the Lizard started letting out little growls before it started shrinking and its green skin started to slowly recede before returning to its normal skin tone.

A few more seconds, and he was back to the way he was… except there was an extra bonus to him that wasn't there before. Instead of only having just one arm, he now had two.

Gwen looked towards Peter and asked, "Is that what you changed when we were making the cure?"

Peter nodded his head, "Yeah, one of the main reasons he was into the whole Lizard serum thing in the first place is because he wanted to regrow his arm, and now that he has it, he doesn't have a reason to be pressured into dabbling with it."

"Ah, I see. So he doesn't become 'the Lizard' again. I was reading some of his file while you were storing the blood, and it mentioned him being a recurring villain, so it's nice to see that wouldn't be a problem," Gwen nodded in understanding.

Peter then sighed as he began to dress him up in normal clothing, "I'll take him to the police station. In the meantime, can you or call both Aunt May, Uncle Ben, and your father to meet us in about 30 minutes?"

"Why?" Gwen asked with a raised brow.

"Well, we did promise that once we've been doing this for a while we would reveal ourselves to our family to not keep them in the dark. The timeline we set for ourselves had already passed… I think it's about time they knew."

Gwen sighed before nodding her head, "I'll inform them."

Peter nodded, donning his mask, he grabbed a sticky note and wrote a few words before putting Dr. Conners over his shoulder and leaving their hideout by swinging away.

He wrapped him in webs before putting him down in front of a police station and put the sticky note on Dr. Conners' forehead,

Which read: The identity of the Lizard that recently attacked Midtown High, oh and he can thank us later for fixing his arm.

Before the police officers nearby could react, Peter turned invisible and swung away.
