80 Chapter 80

[Third Person's PoV]

Both Peter and Gwen reappeared back in their world, exactly where they disappeared.

As they jumped out of the portal, they immediately started swinging away, surprising everyone who was just walking by.

Peter looked around but didn't see the Rhino anywhere nearby. "Aria, how long have we been missing?"

"Approximately only 30 minutes have passed since your disappearance," she replied.

"Okay, that's good. We can work with it. Aria, did the Lizard escape, and where is the Rhino currently?"

"In the 30 minutes of your disappearance, the Lizard has escaped and is currently resting in the underground sewage. Meanwhile, the Rhino was able to gain back mobility in his suit and took off running. Also, you have 20 missed calls from your Aunt, 10 from your Uncle, and 3 from Felicia Hardy."

"Okay, first things first. Gwen, with your ice abilities, you should be able to capture the Lizard and secretly bring him to our hideout to cure him. And I'm going to be dealing with the Rhino."

Gwen nodded. "Aria, please show me the Lizard's whereabouts."

Gwen then headed in one direction, while Peter went towards the opposite direction, where Aria showed him Rhino's location.

Aria showed Peter live video footage taken from a police helicopter that was following the Rhino in his suit, pushing cars away as he made a run for it.

'Gotta go fast, I guess,' Peter thought before surrounding his body with electricity, jumping between buildings in a fast manner, leaving only a blur behind.

"Aria, send a text to Aunt May and Uncle Ben, saying that I'm alright and I'm in the middle of something so I can't really talk right now," Peter instructed.

Peter quickly appeared over the Rhino as he made his way onto a bridge.

'The hell?! Is that someone else, or did he decide to change outfits?' The Rhino thought for a bit before deciding to focus on more important matters… Not getting caught.

As he charged through the bridge, he started throwing the cars off to the sides before going on all fours and running away once more.

Peter, seeing this, silently cursed as he jumped off the side of the bridge. He started webbing the cars to the sides of the bridge and sighed before deciding to stop chasing the Rhino and let him get off the bridge.

His main priority was getting the people to safety. He slowly started pulling them back onto the bridge, making sure they were all okay and weren't injured before charging himself with electricity once more and taking off running.

So he wouldn't get noticed, Peter turned invisible. Due to his speed, Peter managed to catch up with the Rhino rather quickly.

Peter jumped from the top of a building and landed right on top of Rhino's suit. As he undid his invisibility, his spider legs emerged from his back and plunged into the head part of the suit, ripping it off completely.

Rhino looked up in shock, his eyes widening as Spider-Man crouched on his shoulder, looking down at him amidst the control panels.

Frantically, Rhino pushed two buttons on the handles he was holding, causing rockets and a machine gun to appear on the suit's shoulder. But before he could activate them, Peter's spider legs easily slashed them apart, leaving Rhino in shock.

The spider legs then positioned themselves around Rhino's neck as Peter leaned over, silent but with glowing eyes fixed on him.

Rhino looked mortified and started shaking. "P-P-Please let me live. I was paid to capture you, so please let me live."

"This better be the only time I am meeting you. Should there be a next time, prepare to face the consequences," Peter warned.

Rhino nodded eagerly but carefully, mindful of the spider legs still aiming at him.

Peter then pulled him out of the Rhino suit and webbed him up completely. He wrapped up the Rhino mechanical suit as police began to arrive and circle the perimeter.

"Why hello there, officers," Peter greeted them.

"Thanks, Spider-Man, for your work, but you can leave the rest to us," the officer who seemed to be in charge said.

Peter glanced at the officer's name tag and replied, "Sorry, Nathan, I can't just leave this to you guys."

"And why not?" Nathan asked sternly.

"What if he escapes and manages to steal it away, causing more damage than he has already done? What if someone else unrelated takes it and builds on it, making it more dangerous than what it already is? I'm sorry, sir, but I'm not willing to take that chance."

"And what makes you think you can protect it better than us? We have multiple personnel right for the job, while you're just one guy," Nathan argued.

"1. I have superpowers, and 2, you don't know where I live, who I am, or where I'm going to keep it, while you have to document all those things," Peter replied with a smirk before jumping into the air and yanking the webbed-up suit of armor towards him, swinging away before they had a chance to react.

They quickly pulled out their guns and aimed at Peter. "Permission to shoot, sir?" one of the officers asked.

"Stand down," Nathan commanded, shaking his head with a sigh.

They lowered their guns, questioning their captain's decision making. "Sir, do you think it's wise for us to have done that?" one officer asked.

"No, no, I don't. But what choice did we have? He's right about a lot of things. He has superpowers and is a dangerous individual. I would only be putting your lives in danger for something minor such as greed. There is also now the known fact he is recording us, and if that footage is released, we may experience backlash from the public."

A look of realization overcame them, and they nodded in understanding, grateful for their captain's wisdom in avoiding a potentially disastrous mistake.

"Just take him under arrest. We have a lot of paperwork to do," Nathan instructed.

A few minutes earlier…

Gwen landed in the middle of the streets before casually pulling the manhole cover up from the ground and jumping down, placing the cover back where it was.

As she landed, the dirty water splashed around her, eliciting a sound of disgust. "Ewww~ I'm wearing white, it's definitely going to be stained. God, I should have taken on Rhino myself instead if I knew I was going to get my suit dirty."

After recoiling in disgust, she sighed and asked, "Aria, which direction is the Lizard?"

"North from where you are standing. Also, you have 9 missed calls from your father, and from the tone of his voice left in his voicemails, he sounds worried," Aria informed her.

Gwen sighed upon hearing this before saying, "Please send him a message saying I'm doing something important, which is why I wasn't able to respond, and that I'm safe and sound."

Not wanting to walk in the dirty water, Gwen jumped towards the ceiling and started walking upside down towards where Aria had detected the Lizard.

Gwen turned invisible to avoid detection and silently approached where the Lizard was resting, curled up and shedding its skin as it slept.

The Lizard suddenly detected a different presence and woke up, looking around in confusion. It spotted Gwen on the ceiling with its heat vision, although her ice ability made it difficult for him to discern what she was using heat vision.

Reacting quickly, the Lizard lunged towards Gwen, who dodged out of the way and summoned her own spider legs from her back. She froze the water underneath her and used it as a pathway to swiftly approach the Lizard.

The Lizard lunged once more at Gwen, its claws extended towards her, but she managed to dodge and block the attack with her spider legs.

As she evaded, her spider legs made slashing motions towards the Lizard, cutting its new skin and causing green blood to spill from its wounds before they began to regenerate.

Gwen ducked as the Lizard attempted to use its tail, then launched herself forward, covering her hand in frost. She thrust her palm into the Lizard's stomach, causing it to cave in due to Gwen's strength.

Without giving him a chance to recover, Gwen continued her relentless assault, using both her spider legs and her cold abilities. The constant barrage of attacks wore the Lizard down, draining its energy as it struggled to heal from the injuries and cope with the freezing temperatures.

Frost started to accumulate around the Lizard as Gwen slowly exhausted him, until he could no longer stand. Gwen seized the opportunity to intensify her cold assault, sending the Lizard into hibernation, rendering him unresponsive.

She froze his body until he could no longer move, then wrapped him in her webs before slowly dragging him through the dirty water and into their hideout where they had promised to meet.

"I swear this muk better come off or I'm making Peter make a new detergent that will be able to do it" Gwen muttered as she made her way.
