1 Responsibility Or Burden?

One night in New York, a building is on fire with people inside. Everyone panics as the flames get even larger. Spider-man then swings through a window into the building. He uses his webs to put out some of the flames, allowing some of the people to escape the building and lifts a large piece of rubble off of two other people.

"Is anyone else in here!?" Peter yells.

He then hears a little girl scream in a different room. Spider-man quickly dives through the fire into the room and sees the little girl. He picks her up and tries to jump through the window but a large piece of rubble traps them in. As the building begins to collapse, Peter covers the child with his body, trying to protect her.

As the firemen put out the fire, they search for anyone in the wreckage. A bloody and injured Spider-man then emerges from the rubble, with the unharmed child in hand. The little girl then runs to her mom's arms as the two share an emotional hug.

"Thank you, Spider-man. Thank you so much." The mother says.

Peter takes a few deep breaths, spits out some blood and smiles, giving them a thumbs up. Peter slowly limps off in pain.

Later that night, Mary Jane bandages up Peter's wounds on the balcony of his apartment, under the stars.

"You know I could've done this, I don't want you to be-"

Mary Jane puts her finger over his mouth and smiles.

"Stop." She tells him.

Peter looks confused.

"Stop what?"

"Stop trying to keep me out of this. You don't need to do everything on your own."

She puts her hand on his face.

"I love you. I made my choice."

The two then shares a kiss and smiles at each other. Peter then pulls out a ring from his costume as Mary Jane starts to stare at his injuries.

"I think you should take it easy a little, tiger."

Peter looks at Mj for a moment.

"What do you mean?"

"Peter, look at you. You could have died tonight."

"I could die every night." Peter replies with a smirk.

"That's the point. Look, I love you. I love what you're doing as Spider-man. But you're taking all of this on yourself, and to what end? Until you actually die?"

Peter gets flustered and frustrated by this and slowly gets up.

"Mj, I have to do this. For you, for May, for the city. I made a promise to Uncle Ben. With great power, comes great responsibility."

My stands up and looks at Peter with a Somber look.

"And at what point does Responsiblity become a burden? Or maybe even an obsession."

Peter sighs, not answering the question.

"I'm gonna head to bed, ok? Come join me when you're ready."

Mary Jane kisses him on the cheek and walks inside. When she leaves, Peter looks at the wedding ring for a moment then puts it back into his pocket then stares at his City, deep in thought.

As that's happening, Harry Osborn walks into the secret room, filled with Goblin gear and technology. He thinks about Peter being spider-man, how he believes that Spider-man killed his father and slams his hands down on a table near by. As he closes his eyes, thinking that he can't kill his bestfriend, his father's voice starts to creep into his mind.

"Avenge me." The voice keeps saying.

Harry's face changes from being conflicted to being in angry. He then picks up the serum that his father took and stares at it, plotting his revenge.
