4 Entering Borneo Town

Chapter 4

What lied beyond the town gates are a paddyfields landscape, one could see several farmers harvesting the crops, and the other farmers are readyly packing their stuff to go home, as it's already near sunset.Inside the carriage, Nightingale takes down her steel mask and raises her head out, followed by Anna tilting her head out too gazing the beautiful scenery together.

Nightingale takes a deep breath and blurts out.

"I am truly glad we already out of the forests. I had enough seeing trees and fighting with wild animals."

Anna is somewhat agree with her, and she adds.

"I do agree with you. I am not bored with the trees, but when we fights those ferocious beasts, I am afraid my fire powers will cause forest fire if iam not careful."

Anna then continues.

"I also had enough sleeping in the carriage bed. Even if it has soft cushion, I still could felt the rough road."

Roland agrees to his both wives, and sighs.

"But you are the one who slept the most in the entire journeys. I and Nightingale are the one who mostly keep an eye out if something happens."

The entire party then giggle together.

Finally after passing the fields, Roland could see a several houses made of woods. He then sees an old man sitting in a wooden rocking chair, and get down from the coachman chair to ask.

"Excuse me, do you know any inn around here?"

The old man just wakes up from his nap, and answers with stammering tones.

"What? You are looking for inn? Are you stranger here?".

Roland answers calmly

"Yes, I just arrive in this town. I don't mean to disturb your nap, but could you show me the way to the inn, please?"

The old man starts to speak more fluently.

"Nevermind me. I see, from your carriage it seems you are a peddler. If you want to go the inn just follow this road, when you arrive in a four-way crossroad, then turn left. There is a pretty comfortable inn in that leftside of the road. Oh, if you want to go to the this town's market, just go straight in that intersection."

Rolands bow his head a little, then said.

"Thanks for your explanation. I will follow your advice then."

Roland gets back to the carriage and waves his hand. The old man then returns to his nap.

After reaching the intersection, Rolands pull the left rope to make the horses turning left. He then sees a pretty big wooden house with Inn sign on it.

After entering the inn, Roland could see several people sat in the chairs while eating and talking to each other. But, when Rolands enters, followed by Anna who wore a cover face and Nightingale wore a full body steel armor, most of them stop talking, then glancing their curious eyes into Roland's party. Roland thinks that these people might be just another peddler, a big merchant, missionaries looking for job, or even a swindler.

Roland arrives in the the receptionist's table and asks.

"Is there an empty room here? Also a safe place for my horse and carriage?"

A quite young looking female receptionist with a short brown hair answers.

"Yes there are several empty rooms, and we do have a safe storage house for the carriage and a stable for the horses. So, how many room are you ordering?"

Roland is able to relax for founding an inn with empty room and a safe place for his carriage and horses, in his first try.

"Just one room with one bed enough for 3 people. I also book the storage and the stable. And could I also order daily meals send into the rooms."

The young receptionist look at Roland with solemn look..

"Okay, so the total is 1 gold and 3 silvers rupiah for one night. For how long do you plan to stay?"

Roland scratches his head a bit and answers.

"We plan to stay for at least for 3 nights. But we haven't got this kingdom's currency yet, so could I use one of my horses as a mortgage. I will pay the rents after doing some tradings in the market first."

The receptionist faintly smile.

"Okay, that's acceptable. You can use the room number 23 in the second floor."

The receptionist gives 2 keys followed by roland's party heads to the stairs onto the second floor. After founding the room, the party enter then Roland locks the door.

Nightingale opens her helmet and sits in the bed.

"Darn, I hate wearing this armor. It's so hot inside and felt heavy when I walk too. Why don't I just turn invisible all the time?"

Roland sits in the wooden chair near the bed and explains.

"Well we could to that, but it will make the explanation of how we are able to pass the forest less believable. Also it will sound suspicious everytime I order room enough for 3 people when there are only 2 people in my party."

Anna opens his cover face and adds.

"C'mon. Just bear with it. At least now we can sleep together in this beds."

Nightingale begins to smile.

"Yeah, you are right. At least we don't have to take turns to sleep like in the forests anymore. And finally three of us could have 'fun' together like what we were usually doing in the palace bed."

Roland also laughs.

"Sure, we could have 'fun' tonight. But remember, tomorrow is a busy day. I and Anna will go to the market, while you please gathering any info about demons, witches, or Edith as much as you can."
