8 Golem

Akoru was startled from the sight of the huge golem that flashed before him. He jumped back a few meters to create some space.

"Shit! How do I do this?"

The golem he was facing was at least 5 meters tall, it had two enormous arms and legs made up of 3 rocks each; it had a large round rock as its body, and a trapezoid shaped rock as its head with 2 holes and a purple crystal on top.

Akoru rushed towards the golem and swung his sword on the golem's legs. His sword rebounded like a rubber hammer being slammed on a solid wall. It vibrated, causing Akoru's grip to loosen.

He swung the sword again, but to no avail, it only left a small dent. He hacks again and again on the golem's leg, every swing getting stronger and stronger, until the blade of his sword shattered.

Small metal chips flew as the sword's blade shattered. A few of them struck Akoru, leaving him with cuts on his legs and arms.

A wide shadow suddenly appeared, covering the whole area Akoru was standing on.

He looked up and saw a giant rock approaching him. His eyes widened and his mouth twitched.

It was as if it's only death that's awaiting him.

Akoru was slammed to the ground by the enormous arm of the golems swinging at him. There were bruises, cuts, and broken ribs. He spewed out blood from his mouth.

'Shit, I'm gonna die'

It felt like time is slowing down. He remembers all the things he did when he was young.

'Ahhh. Is this what they call "Life flashing before their eyes"? Ha... ha'

Another punch is coming. It was slow, but Akoru doesn't have the strength nor the energy to dodge. He couldn't even move a finger.

Crash!

He bounced up from the ground because of the impact. Akoru didn't have any hope of surviving. He gave up all hope.

'Ahh. I'm dead. I hope reincarnation is real, '

Another punch from the golem struck Akoru.

'Hehe. What am I thinking? I'm dead anyway'

Akoru's eyes were slowly closing, it's as if it's his last moment and he's using all his energy to just keep it open.

...

There was light coming from one direction, sparks and explosions were visible.

Akoru regained consciousness.

He was wrapped in a sphere of flame shaped like an egg. It was warm and relaxing. Akoru laid there as he watched a red-haired man with a two-handed sword slay the golem.

The man was using a strong fire magic along with his sword. Rocks that were attached to the golem are now on scattered on the ground, but the man was still slashing through the golem's tough body. The large rocks which already fell off were moving back to the body.

"Who... are... you?" Akoru asked with a faint voice.

His eyes were blurry and couldn't make out the man's face. But he could still make out the fact that the man was fighting something.

"Shit! I was fighting a golem!"

Akoru sprung up as soon as he remembers what he was doing. It was like he didn't suffer lethal damage.

He picked up his broken sword and looked at his Chroma plate. He checks for a spell that would obliterate the golem.

"You're gonna regret not killing me, you stupid golem!" Akoru shouted. "Flame Dragon's Claw!"

Akoru swung his sword forward, releasing three enormous flaming columns that had pointy tips. One of them struck the golem's arm, the other stuck its head, and another was towards the red-haired man.

The man gave a weird look towards Akoru and vanished in thin air. Akoru felt a hand touching his shoulder. It was warm.

He looked behind and saw the man covered with flame as if it was a part of his clothing.

"Hey. What were you doing?" the man asked. "I could've died from that"

Akoru was startled and leaped away from the man.

Bright light started shining behind Akoru. He looked behind to see what was happening.

The crystal on top of the golem's head was shattering, releasing light as it goes. A few moments later, the crystal shards scattered on the ground while the golem disassembled its body.

"I see. That was the core!" Akoru rejoiced.

The golem's crystal disintegrated into chroma particles and went straight to Akoru.

"Hey Kid, who are you?"

"No. Who are you?" Akoru replied. "I woke up and suddenly a man was standing there fighting my enemy?"

"Ah," the man scratched the back of his head. "I'm Jack... Jack Crimson. That golem was level 93, and the quest didn't include that info, "

...

An hour earlier, Jack headed in the guild and suddenly Trish approached him.

"Sir Jack! Uh, Can I ask you a favor? There was a new adventurer who took a quest poster with a missing information."

"What is it?"

"It was to slay a golem from the ruins, but the golem is Level 93 and the guy that took it was just a newbie. He might die!"

...

"Jack Crimson?" Akoru muttered. "Jack... wait! Aren't you the Top 1 adventurer?"

"Yeah"

"I see. I'm Akoru Silva. I'm just a new adventurer."

"Then let me ask you. How did you kill that golem, specifically, one-shot it?" said Jack while he wipes his sword before sheathing it.

"Now that you say it, if that was level 93 and I'm level 28, how did I do it? I don't know either, " Akoru answered. "I just used one of my spells I thought was strong"

"Huh? You're level 28?!" Jack exclaimed.

"Yeah. Wait..."

Akoru picks the chroma plate from his pockets and sees he's level 89.

"Yeah. 28. Why?" asked Akoru.

The man gave him an intense glare.

'This guy! I got too few chroma from that Golem and leveled up once, don't tell me he didn't level up many times from that.'

"Also, how did you use that fire spell? Aren't you a Gray?" Jack raised an eyebrow.

"Gray?"

In this world, Magical Abilities are determined from the person's Elemental Affinity. Elemental affinity resonates with the chroma of a person. Because of this, there is always a part of the person's body that shows their Element, but mostly it's shown by the hair color.

Jack Crimson has a red hair, that shows he can control Elements that is color red, for example fire, blood, red flowers, etc. But it doesn't mean he can control all of them, each person can only manipulate one type of element, unless they have Mixed Affinity.

"Ah! I don't even know how I got these spells."

"And that spell was only available to my father. Red Flame's Dragon Claw. That's a Mythical grade spell only obtainable if you are from the Crimson Bloodline."

"Uhhh. Uhmmm. I don't really know how I got that spell. I promise. It just all appeared when I was in the dungeon with Alviero"

Jack pinched his chin and had a thought for a moment. 'Alviero? Does he have something to do with this? No. I don't think so.'

Jack dropped the topic with Akoru and let him go back to the capital.

...

Akoru returned to the capital along with Jack, he still wondering how he survived that encounter with the golem. On the way, he felt his legs becoming weak, his eyes were half closed and his hands were swaying like a leaf on a strong breeze.

Akoru fell on the ground out of exhaustion.

His mana was completely drained, causing him to feel exhausted and lose his consciousness.

"Oh!" Jack shouted as he picked Akoru up and carry him on his back. 'This guy must've used all his mana'.

Akoru was sleeping like a baby while being carried by Jack on their way back to the city.
