2 Fake Family

Smash.

'Oh no, Dullahan. You know my stepmother already hates me, why did you trip me up now she'll have more reason to punish me.' Huiliang thought as she proceeded to pick up the shattered porcelain.

As if the cat had summoned the devil herself her stepmother walked into the kitchen with a less than pleased look on her face. "You incompetent little brat. Do you know how to do anything?" she scorned not letting the girl answer before she began taunting her again, "Your just like your mother unable to complete any task she was given, I mean look at the way you turned out." she sneered.

'My mother was not like that, she's a kind caring woman who always thought of others before herself' Huiliang thought to herself she knew she couldn't say that because she feared that her mother would lock her up in the basement for the next week without any food.

"Actually I was incorrect your mother is a seductive sly woman who succeeded in stealing the heart of an engaged man." The woman continued to speak "She just couldn't help herself and threw herself at your father and then used you as an excuse to bribe her way into the family."

"That's not true and you know it. If it weren't for you my mother would still be alive and well, I and father would all be living happily together. It was because of your schemes that you married my father, all because you saw my father was wealthy, you were nothing but my mother's maid but you climbed into my father's bed and married him as soon as she died." Huilang retorted quietly but not quietly enough because her stepmother had heard.

Daiyu - Huiliang's stepmother - was seething with hate when she heard the young girls snide comment she reached out and slapped her stepdaughter hard in the face.

Huiliang, however, was also livid.

She hated it when that horrible woman slandered her mother over and over again. Her mother was the nicest person she knew, even though she died when she was young she still remembered her mother's warm embrace and kind gentle words and actions. She could tell that her mother really loved her and cared for her, even in her last few minutes of life the first thing she did was make sure that her daughter was alright, creating a protective barrier for her precious child and to reassure her that she would still be by her side forever even though not physically.

Yes, Huiliang was furious.

And in her fury, a sense of liquid courage burned inside her.

Of course, she knew it wouldn't last and would die down soon but she carried on and even started shouting "I am older than Meiying -Huiliang's half-sister by 2 years. It was after your family's schemes that my father married you. It was when my mother was still on her sickbed that you climbed into a married man's bed," Huilang advance ferociously. "Do you really think I didn't know how you drugged my dad and forced him to marry you? I know how you poisoned my mother and killed her. You should have been locked up but you managed to convince my father and everyone else that she had died of a terminal illness and covered it up somehow. My mother took you in and cared for you, she was kind to you and trusted you but you stabbed her in the back."

Daiyu was taken aback by her stepdaughter's show of anger because this was the first time that the child had dared speak back to her let alone shout. She was about to strike the child again but she realised that the porcelain shards that were earlier smashed were floating dangerously above the girl's head and cups and spoons and bowls were hovering around. Soon anything that wasn't pinned down was in the air. This was the same thing that happened when the child's mother had died and they had just returned from the funeral.

Daiyu had gone to see if the child was alright. She tried to comfort the crying child by saying she would be a good mother but that seemed to make the child angry and she started shouting that she only had one mother and that she could never be that. Similar to now objects in the room started to hover, but the child was only about 3 at the time. It was also common knowledge that any hidden magical ability manifested at the age of 16 but this girl was different. She hated the child, not because of her mother - that was an excuse to belittle and suppress the child - but because she was afraid that she would steal things from her daughter as her mother did to her.

At the age of three whenever the child was angry strange things would happen around her but the child always passed out and forgot the incident. Daiyu had concealed these matters by wiping the memory of those who had witnessed it for fear that the girl would surpass her own daughter. "Shut up, you stupid child!" Daiyu whispered it was only then that Huilang noticed the fear in her step mother's eyes and the dishcloth that was flying above her head, that she froze in surprise. Surprised by the fact that she had magic despite what everyone said. A few minutes later, after coming back from her daze, Huiliang ran out of the kitchen pushing past her mother in the process. As she left the room the plates came crashing down. Daiyu was not stunned because of the girl's powers as she was used to it by now, but because for the first time the girl had not fainted as per usual. While cursing that she had been too afraid to wipe the child's memory, she went to the living room and sat down trying to clear her head of the previous events when she heard knocking at the door.
