2 Chapter 1: Anomalies all over the World

"Mayday, mayday! This is Air Field Captain, Ju Soo. Can anyone hear me! This is Air Field Captain, Ju Soo."

Static sounds

Mayday, mayday! Shit!"

slams receiver

Captain Ju Soo leans back into his seat, blood seeping from his wounded arm. And trickling down his forehead.

It seems he won't be able to survive.

A view of a helicopter hanging upside down from a tree deep in the woods.

There was nothing he could do anymore that "thing" would be coming to take his life soon.

Damn, what a fucked up situation. To think something like this would happen, where exactly did it go wrong?

All over the world, Earth View

"There are strange bright lights appearing all over the world!" US news.

"Creatures being spotted eating humans have appeared from these bright lights.!" Japanese news.

"It has just been confirmed that those known as the "Chosen" has started appearing!" US news a year later.

"There are odd worlds appearing around the world, known as Dungeons." Japanese news two years later.

Tokyo, Japan; Two years after the appearance of Anomalies

One can see the established view of many houses. Zoom in on one particular house.

The house has seen some rough times, but it's in good health, zoom in on a window where one can see dim light flashing.

Inside the room a girl with sooty black hair, that's seen from behind, illuminated in flashing light. She's sitting before her console playing her favorite video game, Party World RPG.

"Ah, I leveled up again!" The girl yells her eyes are an unnatural light green color and went well with her pale skin tone.

That girl was me, Anae Song.

I blew out a sigh and leaned back as my bangs fell into my eyes. Playing video games with leveling up game components was something I do to keep my mind off reality.

"Noona, mom says to come eat!" The door is being opened and my cute little sister, Kinaka Song (6), steps into the room.

Today she wore her jammies and held her favorite teddy bear that was tightly gripped in her arms. Most would say she looked nothing like me. It's understandable since she had light brown hair, blue eyes, and a cute appearance.

"Ah, I'll come after another round." I tell her.

"Noona, why do you never leave your room? Is it because you're a vampire?" Kinaka asks, her expression quite serious.

Vampire? Seriously where does she learn these things?

"Not at all, it's because the world finds me creepy." I say with a sad smile in her direction.

She stared at me longer and seemed to be in thought, "I don't think Noona is scary. Noona is smart, I want to be smart like Noona!" She says with a bright smile.

I felt an arrow pierce my heart, what a sweet child! I clutched my chest to keep my heart from coming out.

"Thank you, Kina." I says as she left my room.

Leave it to her to put me in a slightly better mood.

Since I normally ever show my expressions around those who aren't family, I'm always left with a burdening nickname, "Creepy." by anyone who saw me.

"Oh my gosh, such a Creepy girl!"

"Look at that Creepy girl, doesn't she remind you of a vampire? That pale skin, those abnormal eye colors."

"That girl over there is so Creepy! Perhaps is she cursed by vampires?"

Well if I hear that often enough, of course my sister must have heard it as well.

Let's play another round. It's always best to clear my thoughts with a good game.

An few hours go by before it was my mother who came in next. I ended up dying and being dragged to the dining room to eat.

"Jeesh, if no one comes to get you. I'm sure you'd starve by now." She would say as she grabs my ear.

Before I knew it I was eating, but my mind was else where as the news could be heard in the background.

"Player, Una Yusaki, took down yet another S+ Rank monster. For his bravery we shall reward him for his continuous achievements with xx amount of cash and a chance to build his own guild....."

Right, this was a world that was once modern and now a world where monsters, dungeons, and players existed.

Hearing the news has me in another funk. After all I was not a chosen player.

"Where are you going?" My mother asked me as I stood to head back to my room and slammed the door shut.

Back at the dinner table, "that girl, seriously." Rina Song, (mother), says as she frowned.

"Don't be too hard on her hun. She's still traumatizing over not being chosen as a player. It's always has been a dream of hers." Joon Song, (father), says.

"It's such a dangerous job to be a player. Does she not know how many players have lost their lives already?" Rina asked pointing her fork at him.

He smiles awkwardly, "still, it would be nice if one of us had gotten the chance. After all, becoming a top player could change our lives." He says.

"So you're the reason our daughter is like this. We may be poor, but we've survived this long with no issues." She says.

Her stubbornness sure hasn't changed, is what Joon was thinking.
