34 To Seek Out A God Slaying Spear Boy

(Archangel Michael POV)

( Do let me know if you guys want me to change how I do my titles for this book if the whole Spear Boy thing gets annoying.)

"Was this what you desired from your gears, Father? Is this the evolution you saw in Humanity? I would wish to hear your answers, but the silence is worse than the pain from the Great War." My musings are left in the air as I stand next to the throne of God and check through the system to try and find the Spear Of Longinus.

The power to change the world was something any faction would want to covet or deny to other factions. Yet, for some reason, the spear hides its presence from all, even God's own children, and when we find the spear users, they are often at death's door or are unwilling to work with us.

Is it out of fear that they do not join us? Anytime we locate a user of that Longinus, they always look at us as if they are filled with disgust. My questions shall never be answered until we find a new user. All of the Archangels are working to find the new wielder along with the church.

I do feel disdain for myself asking the church to find the spear due to its effect on its believers, as simply looking upon it can cause someone great pain and even death.

Since it was the spear that felled the son, the blow was made by a man who did not believe and was only following orders, and later, the church and the faith would find any bloodline related to the man who killed Jesus and would have them hanged.

It was despicable, and none of the angels desired their deaths, yet they were put to the sword anyway. When their souls went to the Underworld, they spoke of their deaths to the three judges, who then informed Hades and would then go on to hate the Biblical factions more openly.

For it was God who gave Humanity the sacred gears that he could never wield, and throughout history, many would journey to his realm for a variety of reasons, from seeking lost loved ones or to attempting to test themselves.

Hades despises all life other than the children of Rome and Greece. Although he has not forgiven Zeus for what his son did to Hitler during WW2, it was he who killed him and his family that day in the bunker. He would then send the corpses to Hades after using his lightning to destroy their souls.

It was not even the act of killing Hitler, his son that drove Hades to become even more hateful of the world, but it was the fact that they used their power to destroy Souls, which is one of the greatest crimes one can commit in the Supernatural world.

It is also why scared gear extractors are hard, if not impossible, to build or find. The only ones who know how to create such things these days would be my Fallen brother Azazel and a couple of his ilk.

As I continued to focus on the throne, I felt another shift in the world as the moon began to wane in the sky before returning to normal. My eyes widened as thunderclouds gathered over New York, and as I spread my senses to that state, I saw a boy who looked no older than 15 give the sky his middle finger before leaving through a portal.

I was able to sense what lay beyond the portal, yet for some reason, when I looked at it, I felt chills greater than anything I had ever known. The white throne seemed to exude power and wisdom, but then the connection was cut off as the portal closed.

Breathing heavily, I fell to the ground as sweat formed on my brow. I looked up to the throne and saw it remain silent as ever, and as I gathered myself enough to drag my body to the throne, I sat against the chair, wondering where everything went wrong.

I still remember when Helel would annoy Azazel with his new spells or creations; I still recall when Kokabiel would grant light to the cold humans when they huddled in their caves on dark nights.

The remaining Archangels are unable to improve and are slowly losing themselves to the ravages of time and of grief. Yet, the world will not wait much longer. The deaths of Ares and now Artemis will have long-reaching consequences as I have felt a tide of rising darkness growing.

Nyx, Erebus, and Tartarus are up to something as everyone feels their reawakening after hundreds of years, and in the winds, the factions have heard of a new organization. A brigade of some sort, but for now, those are just rumors.

Taking a breath, I walked onto a balcony overlooking Heaven and saw angels flying about doing their various jobs and other duties. While Angels is heavily restricted from leaving, the world still needs to see the illusion that their god has not abandoned them.

Every day, he wishes he could tell the Believers of the faith that God had perished, but he knew that it would lead to complete and utter chaos.

Heaven would begin to disappear as people stopped believing in them, and the throne and its system would be lost forever; millions of souls residing in Heaven and purgatory would be lost into the void and disintegrated forevermore.

But the inevitably of the lie weighs heavily on my shoulders. It's almost ironic as those who once provided miracles for Humanity need a miracle of our own to survive.

We are by no means defenseless, and as long as the very high-level members of the church do not let this information out, we could sustain Heaven for another couple of centuries at this rate.

With a heavy sigh, I feel the sword of Damocles above my neck growing heavier as I walk to Gabriel's Department of Purity. For it is her duty to make sure the prayers are being answered, at least those of higher necessity.

As I enter the cathedral, where I see Gabriel and her fellow angels praying at an altar to keep the holy energy flowing correctly to the Earth, I sit down and wait for them to finish their shift. Our holy reserves are not infinite, so we often take breaks and rest while another group takes their place. Even I must make up for a missing Archangel if they are too enthralled in their duties.

After waiting for an hour, I see the angel's eyes open and see Gabriel smile even if drained, and as she sees me, her smile brightens as she flies and hugs me tightly.

"I see you are as spry as ever, Sister Gabriel. And while I do enjoy the hug, I come bearing ill news." Even after saying this, her smile never dimmed as she dismissed the tired angels and sat down next to me.

"What news do you bring, Brother Michael?" She asks as I look to the stained glass window of our Father's form, or at least the last one he took, and sigh.

"Lady Artemis has fallen at the hands of the Spear Wielder. The moon's light dimmed before her domain was overshadowed or replaced by Lady Selene once more, but the fact that her essence has disappeared along with Ares means that they are gone forever. This new wielder knows how to kill gods, Gabriel, permanently." The news causes her eyes to widen as she takes in this information.

"And where did he learn his from? Even Lady Scathach could not kill gods on her first time, and from what information we had, he trained with her for a time, yes?" My eyes narrow at that name as while Heaven did not interact with her, she did kill some stray priests in her time, which may have soured her views on the lord.

"That is where my theory comes in, Gabriel, and it may be reaching, to say the least." My sister's head tilts questioningly as a small smile shows on her face. While Father has gone, his creations still keep me going. I do truly think Gabriel for still being here as her presence keeps thousands of angels motivated to say the least.

Even her "rivalry" with Lady Levithan is well known as the two sides are always bickering on the internet on who is the "best girl." "Well, I believe that our Father may have taught him how to do so. Remember, this is just a theory, but it is the only explanation."

This news causes her mouth to open, and as I close it, she looks at me angrily as I chuckle and rub her hair. "But we have to find this user before anyone else does. And the only place I believe he will show up is somewhere in America, as with the deaths of Artemis and Aries, the Greeks will not take this line down; Zeus will retaliate along with Apollo. News tells of Amaterasu and Quetzalcoatl having to keep the sun from going supernova as it responds to Apollo's rage and grief."

Gabriel's smile becomes more solemn as she asks, "Have we uncovered why the user of our father's spear targets these Gods so?" I shook my head at this question.

"Sadly, the Greeks are remaining tight lipped about this, and none of our spies on Mount Olympus are willing to say anything as most are unable to leave due to Zeus placing a travel ban to and from Olympus. For now, we simply must pray that he shows himself long enough to interact with him." Gabriel nods as she stretches herself after sitting for hours on end in a praying position.

"Well then, Brother, it is a simple plan. I will find the child as I am the greatest tracker." As she says this, she is standing and pointing into the sky, similar to some of the manga characters from Sandalphon's readings. I really should stop allowing Sandalphon to show my sister manga.

"Sister, you know you have to remain here, or else everyone will worry. All of us wish we could leave Heaven to go back to Earth but without Father.." Gabriel then hugs me again as I return the gesture.

"I know, Michael, I know. But think about it, none of the previous wielders reacted very well to any of you, so I believe it's my turn now to try my luck." She then gave me the puppy dog eyes, and even the power of an Archangel is not enough to say no to this.

*Le Sigh* Alright, Gabriel, if we find him, you will lead the diplomatic team, but for now, rest as I can see, you are still drained from operating the prayer system." She then furiously shakes her head as she flies away, saying.

"Sandalphon promised to show me more manga later. Bye, Michael!!' And she is gone.

I then begin to laugh as my spirits are lifted somewhat, and I return to doing paperwork. I swear Lucifer created this just to punish us after his death.

(Cao Cao POV)

"Hi, Mom! I'm back!" I say as Pandora sighs at me but smiles at the same time.

"You know, because we exist in separate worlds, I can't see what you do, but how did you end up here so quickly again, you troublesome child." I began to whistle with the innocence of a babe as she then gave me a glare.

"Well, I may have killed Artemis as the Greek Gods are hunting me down for killing Ares, so it's their fault, not mine. I swear!" My reply seemed not to convince her, but she still pats my head as I lay on her legs.

You know, I'm starting to understand the point of the Holy thighs. This is nice.

"Well, regardless of why you killed her, I must do my duty but try not to kill more gods, as your vessel may not be able to handle more authorities. Also, make sure you are taking care of yourself, you damn battle junkie." This causes me to scoff.

"Hey, I am not a battle junkie mother. I just end up having gods not liking me, is all I am completely innocent." Pandora then seems done with my shit as she begins the process of giving me a new authority.

"While it is nice you want to visit me, you don't need to genocide the godly population, you troublesome child. I have waited thousands of years, I can wait longer. Don't endanger yourself for such things." her response brings a frown to my face.

"I resent that, and besides, what kind of child would I be if I did not visit my mother? It must get quite quiet here. And besides, I enjoy these conversations of ours." My reply does manage to make her posture less rigid as she then looks me in the eyes.

"Just try not to get yourself killed, as I can't save you from death. But thank you, I appreciate these talks too, but again, don't hunt down innocent gods, okay?" she gives me a hard look as I nod my head, and as the world I am in begins to dim, she places a kiss on my forehead and smiles.

I then reopened my eyes and felt the necklace I gave Luke activate as I teleported to Camp Half-Blood to get his response.

(Also do feel free to give me some recommendations on the ability. Our main character gets from Artemis's authority.)
