5 THE TREAT( DAD'S PROMISE)
The long awaited weekend finally arrived as the morning dew, coupled with the rising of the sun; welcomed the Saturday morning. Everywhere was thrown in a rumpus while everyone got ready, preparing for the treat.
Nelson was taking the family out for a simple treat which was not to be missed. Even Lilia came to the house early in order not to miss out–It was more like a picnic.
Solidad, on the other hand, was busily packing their foods which came in different types, sandwich, potato chips, rice, etc in a big basket. Nicole, Lilia, Betty and Aims were also busy packing their bag pack with some ice creams ,fruits and juice.
Nelson was already in the car waiting for them.
Soon everyone and everything was set, they all rushed to the car and drove off to the Florescent garden.
Its a very huge garden which is set at the heart of the town with beautiful and colorful flowers all over.
Its ever green site and sweet scent makes it pleasant and relaxing to be there. Most families in the town often gather there for their outings and picnics especially on holidays.
Soon their vehicle pulled over in front of the garden. Solidad and Nelson left with their mat to pick a place for them to settle. Betty , Nicole, Lilia and Aims also brought down the things from the car. With no time, they were already settled which announced the genesis of the picnic.
They ate and played in the garden after which they sat to have a little family chat. Nelson was the first to speak after the kids joined had joined them.
"Hey, guys, how is it going?"
" Its so much fun dad, wish we could have it everyday like this." Betty implied and the others chorused their agreement to which Solidad and Nelson laughed.
" Yeah, dad, its so long a time , having all of us together like this." Nicole retorted and Solidad smiled, brushing her hand over his head.
"Yeah, i think that is all we need from our busy life. " Aimscious and Lilia said in unison. Astonished by their talk together, they both glanced at each other and laughed to which the rest joined in.
"It seems this is gonna be the most unforgettable family time together " Solidad commented and they all nodded with giggles.
Just then, they heard a loud shout behind them which sent trembling fear .They swiftly turned to the direction of the voice and it was Mr. Simon and his men. Simon Graham is a top business mogul across the country and the highest investor in the country's economy.
" You bastard !–" His voice echoed and the Nelson family instinctively jerked to their full height with Nelson taking a stand in front of his family as the angry man chanced towards them.
"I told you to stay off that land." He barked, just when he closed up on them– his face flashed daggers as he looked him in the eye. Nelson who was astonished by his word, finally asked when he ended his words.
"What do you mean by that?–That's my land which i've cultivated for my whole life and you come here asking me to stay off it?"
He stared with a furrowed brow; literally not getting what was going on – his mind refusing to coincide. "What's really going on here?" He pressed.
Simon bursted with fury. " Yes, it belongs to me now– I've already bought it from the authorities. You have no right over it anymore."
"What?" Solidad stuttered as her gaze travelled to Nelson who in turn gazed back at her with a face flushed with awe. Their gazes instinctively went back on Simon.
"Its a lie– there's no way, I'm gonna allow you have that land. It's for my family and i; you need to go back and sort yourself out with the authorities "
Simon's lips spontaneously curved in a half smile; a sinister look spread over his face.
" I guess we got a party then" He chortled which was soon taken over by a frown.
"Better prepare for what you're calling for, Mr Nelson" He barked in a cold voice which angered Nicole. He swiftly hunched past his father towards Simon
" You can't threaten my dad" He shouted but Nelson held him midway, preventing him from attacking him.
"Leave here, Mr Simon– I think we're done here" Nelson barked. He glared at the family, angrily left with his men. Nelson instinctively shouted at their back, drumming home his point.
"You can't do anything to my family and I."
Without a word, Simon signaled his driver to move to which he tore off with such speed that the tyre screeched, throwing off a lot of gravel.
Nelson and the rest of the family stood, surprised and shocked at what just happened as they watched the tail of Simon and his men disappear from view.
" Let's go home honey– It's getting late and I don't think is safe out here." Solidad hinted and Nelson slowly nodded his agreement.
"We should get going, kids." He announced and everyone joined in as they packed their belongings and set off to the house.
First, they dropped Lilia home and then continued to their apartment which was about 200meters away from hers. When they arrived , it was already late in the night. With a few preparations here and there, everyone retired to their rooms.
