16 Chapter 16: Delta Vs. Max

Alpha was again the first person who showed off his ability.

He closed his eyes and started talking deep breathes, after a few breathes white mist could be seen coming out of his mouth.

He then opened his eyes, his pupils were completely white, and a layer of thick white ice started to form over his arms and hands.

"I can form ice. Although the strength depends on the moisture around me" Alpha spoke confidently.

"Useless" Sigma said mocking Alpha's ability. He swaggered his way towards Max with a smug look on his face.

"I can do better" Sigma exclaimed while his body slowly started to light on fire.

It was obvious who was stronger, Fire beats ice.

"My ability depends on oxygen, the more oxygen around me the stronger my flames will burn" explained sigma

Suddenly a green flash appeared in front of Max,

It was Gamma, "My ability is speed, it's quite handy," Gamma said while jumping up and down.

"My speed depends on my stamina, I can run for about an hour at 80 Miles per hour"

All three of them had really useful abilities the only one that was left was Delta.

"Uh, mine, it doesn't have anything to do with strength, it involves my eyes" He explained

"I can see two seconds into the future, which allows me to attack and defend without getting hurt, as long as I can move fast enough"

Everyone had displayed their powers, and quite frankly, Max was impressed.

"Well, kid? Did you find what your ability is?" Davis sounded a bit impatient.

"Uh, no I'm sorry" Max responded.

"DAMNIT" Davis cried. He started to rub his temples

"Calm down Vice-general Davis, maybe he just doesn't know how to use it," Alpha reassured Davis

"Doesn't really happen that often though, we all knew how to use our abilities from the get-go" Gamma asserted

"Exactly," Davis blurted out while looking at Gamma

"Maybe we have to beat it out of him?" Sigma suggested

"I mean that's what I did" he added

"You do not have to do any of those things, just give me a while. I'll figure out what my ability is, I just need some alone time" Max disagreed Hearing Sigma's suggestion Max knew that Davis would be willing to try it.

"Yeah sometimes I like to spend some alone time to practice using my ability" Delta added

Everyone paused for a while not saying anything until Davis broke the silence.

"Omega, try and spar against Delta, he can't really hurt you" Davis suggested while looking towards Max

That was a lie, Delta was quite strong even though his ability wasn't as strong as the others he could still obliterate Max

Max knew there was no way around it he had to do it. Making excuses would cause Davis to become suspicious.

"Let's do it." Max accepted Davis's suggestion

[Reward: 1000 EXP]

[Punishment: Nothing]

'This quest gives me more experience than Lying to Davis, does that mean that I get more EXP for beating people?' Max thought

"You ready Omega?" Delta asked snapped Max out of his trance.

"Uh? Yeah let's do this" Max immediately put up a fighting stance

'Delta can see two seconds into the future, and he can only be beaten by speed. We both have similar base stats as we're both blues. Objectively speaking, I have no way of winning this

Delta's eyes were no longer normal instead they were pitch black with tiny white dots spread across. It reminded Max of Lore's starry eyes.

Delta within a second had covered the distance between them and before Max knew it he received a sucker punch straight to the stomach.

The blow pushed Max back by at least 5 feet. His boots skidded across the metal floor.

'Damn, focus Max. He's fast than me' Max cursed himself internally

Without a second wasted Delta rushed in for another attack, Max saw the attack coming and immediately dodged it. Much to Max's surprise Delta changed his entire attack midway. Instead of a punch, Max received a kick to the face. Knocking out three of his teeth.

Max's face was now covered in blood. Although his wounds had started hearing, they wouldn't heal fast enough.

Delta threw out a barrage of attacks, Max would try to block or defend against them it would always be useless. Delta could see right through him.

Delta was quite literally mopping the floor with Max.

Max now had trouble standing up, he was done. Any more and Max would be knocked out.

"That's enough, Omega go-" before Davis could finish his sentence Max had interrupted him.

"Hold... It" Max's thoughts were now groggy, he understood that he wouldn't win this battle but he had come up with a plan and he wanted to test that plan.

'His eyes... I'm so stupid there's an obvious weakness right in front of me' Max now had a plan.

"Fine, have it your way omega" Davis's expression had turned sour. Maybe because he knew how much time would be wasted if was knocked out.

Delta instantly rushed to punch Max.

'I need to get his eyes... How..' Just as he was trying to think up of a plan, his blood had poured into one of his eyes.

'Bingo' Max thought,

Just as Delta had gotten close to Max, Max bit his tongue as hard as he could, splitting his tongue in half.

Although Delta could see what Max was doing, it was too late, he was too close to Max. He had to press on, hoping his punch would cause Max to collapse.

As soon as Delta punched Max. Blood that been stored in his mouth came rushing out, onto Delta's face, effectively blinding him.

Now that Delta couldn't see anymore. It was Max's victory. Max kept pounding Delta's face with the little strength he had left.

Within a couple of minutes, Delta had been knocked out, Max was in no good condition either. He was kneeling on the ground, had multiple broken bones and internal injuries as well.

Everyone else was left awestruck, they couldn't believe their eyes. Especially Davis.

With each notification, Max would hear an annoying beep in his head, but it didn't matter, what mattered was that with each level up Max could feel that he was getting stronger.
