14 Chapter 14: System!?

After Max had lost consciousness, Davis proceeded to remove Max's arm cast and carried him into His new apartment which was located in the tallest building in CROSS.

The apartment had everything one could think of, calling it an apartment wouldn't do it justice. It was more like a mansion.

Max had regained consciousness and found himself in a large luxurious bed. It had been a while since he had slept on one, he was used to sleeping on the floor. And so a bed felt a little uncomfortable to him.

"Ughhh" he groaned

As he opened his eyes he was greeted by a bright blue flashing screen that read.

[You have one unread message]

Max was left utterly confused by the screen in front of him, it wasn't a solid screen as he could just barely see through it.

'What the hell?'

'How do I open it?' Just as he finished that thought screen disappeared and was replaced by a new bigger one that had more text written on it.

[Dear Max,

it's me, Lore. As promised I've upheld my end of the bargain, I've transferred all of my powers to you. But it seems as if you aren't strong enough to use all of them, so, I've created this interactive system for you to use.

It'll help you grow and develop your mind and body to be able to able to properly make use of your new powers.

I, on the other hand, will now live through your memories and experience everything you did.

Just as Max had finished reading the message, he heard a knock at his door.

"May I come in?" A soft, gentle feminine voice spoke

Max was quite shocked after hearing the new voice, but he decided to ignore that and focus on the new system that Lore had given him.

He wanted to quickly hide it so no one could see it. As soon as he thought of the word "hide" the message screen disappeared.

"C-come in" he said

The door of his room slide open and a young cute looking girl dressed in a maids outfit entered

"My name is Olivia, and I am your maid" she introduced herself with a little bow. Olivia had black short hair that barely reached his shoulders. Her eyes were brown, while her skin was white and fair, she was small in stature, and looked no older than her 20s.

"Umm, alright?" Max was he hadn't interacted with many women before, and honestly, he found the maid to be quite cute.

"If you need anything, anything at all, people do not hesitate to ask for it" Olivia again bowed after completing her sentence.

"Um, I-I don't really need anything right now *GROWL* just as he finished his sentence his stomach began to rumble, it was quite obvious he was hungry.

His cheeks immediately turned red out of embarrassment. The maid, however, remained silent and instead of laughing at him she simply asked

"You seem, hungry master, would you like some breakfast?" By her tone and facial expressions you could tell that she was truly concerned about Max's rumbling tummy

"Uh, yeah," Max said while scratching the back of his head.

The maid once again bowed and rushed out of Max's bedroom

Max let out a sigh, he was exhausted after his little interaction with the maid. And fell backwards on his bed.

'Oh, right the system' he thought before getting back up.

There were a lot of things going through his mind, like how Davis had lied to him. But he decided to push all those things away and focus on his new system.

'Open' he thought and a blue screen with multiple different options opened up.

[Stats] [Abilities/Skills] [Plasma Manipulation] [Demonic abilities/Skills] [Shop/Craft] [Quests/Goals]

We're the options he could see out of the 6 options 5 were greyed out meaning he couldn't access them yet.

'Whoa, he really did transfer everything'

'What do Quests have to do with his powers... ' many thoughts had stormed into his mind but he decided to focus on the only menu he could access

'Stats' he thought and a new menu pop open, the menu had many options

[Name: Max Williams]

[Race: Human]

[Level: 0]

[EXP: 0/100]

[Energy 0/1000]

[Stamina: 300/300]

[Strength: 30]

[Speed: 30]

[Agility: 30]

[Mind: 20]

[Available points for distribution: 0]

'That, That's a lot of information about me' Max thought

'Can I increase my strength? I mean it says I need some sort of points to do that'

Max was in deep thought when all of a sudden a loud knock startled him

"May I come in?" A feminine voice which was obviously Olivia's said

'Close close close close' max thought and the screen in front of him disappeared

Max let out a long *sigh* he was so invested in the system tab that the knocking sound had almost caused him to have a heart attack.

"Come. Come in" Max spoke

The door slid open and Olivia entered, she was pushing a food trolley that had a wide array of different foods.

"Here you are, master," the maid said joyfully

Max was at a loss for words, he had never seen so many dishes and each of the dish looked better than the last.

"Did you make them yourself?" Max exclaimed in shock

Olivia's face turned red and she said "N-no sorry, master but I can't cook. These dishes were made by your chef"

"Oh right," max said while picking up a plate of what his eyes deemed delicious

"What is this?" Max asked while sniffing it

"That's lobster scrambled eggs" Olivia replied

"Seems good"

Max ate a little bit of it and immediately fell in love with the flavour, what he was eating was without a doubt the best thing he had had in the last 4 years.

Olivia just kept standing by his side watching him eat

Max who was too busy stuffing his face with food noticed her look and stopped eating.

"Oh, how rude of me. Please help yourself" Max offered

"Oh no no no, I couldn't" Olivia exclaimed while stepping back.

"Why? It's just food I can't eat it all"

"Um, I'm not allowed to, Master," she said while bowing

"Then why call me master? You've been so kind, the least I can do is offer you food" Max who was still stuffing his face said.

Olivia at first hesitated but eventually sat on Max's bed and started eating with him.

"Master, now that you're done eating. Vice general Davis has asked to meet you. Can I let him know that you're ready to meet him?"

Just as Olivia had finished telling Max that Davis had wanted to see him, the blue screen appeared in for him.

"UGH" He yelled and dropped his plate

Max thought that Olivia could see the screen as well so he panicked but to his surprise, Olivia couldn't see a thing

"What's wrong master? Olivia immediately got up and started to scan the room

The screen was still in front of Max yet Olivia couldn't see it. This made max feel a hundred times safer about using the system.

"Nothing I was..." Max paused trying to think of an excuse "testing you!" He hoped that pathetic excuse would be enough to fool Olivia.

Olivia immediately dropped to the floor and started bowing

"I AM TRULY SORRY FOR NOT BEING RESPONSIVE ENOUGH" she cried

Hearing her genuine apology made max feel bad. But at least he had managed to max an excuse

"Don't be sorry you did great" Max praised Olivia

"Really?" She asked while getting back up

"Yes, really and go tell Davis that I'll see him."

Olivia who was now smiling ear to ear quickly picked up everything and left the room.

'Time to see what that pop-up was'

'Open' max thought and the system opened up

[New Quest: Lie about your powers to Davis]

[Reward: ???]

[Punishment: Death]

Reading the new quest Max had received made him remember HUE's "creative punishments"

"What do I even say to Davis?" Max voiced his concerns
