6 Nightmare

Time flowed like water, and an entire week passed as Tylem began to settle into his new home.

Nighttime, nearing midnight.

Emily had raised the topic about school to him a few days prior, and it was planned for him to attend the same middle school as Lynne tomorrow. Regarding his previous school, Tylem was indifferent.

With such a complicated background, he had never bothered to make any friends, so he didn't have any special connection toward the school or anyone in it.

When Emily questioned him about it, Tylem had merely responded, "That school means nothing to me. I would go there to learn, nothing more—nothing less."

Resting in his new bedroom, Tylem stared at the white ceiling, which was much more comfortable to look at than his previous prison back in Chengyang Village.

"Now that I have some free time, I should take a closer look at the cultivation manual."

When the inexplicable connection had formed between him and the ball of light back in Chengyang Village, Tylem had become subconsciously aware of the other party's existence.

However, he was clueless about the finer details such as the background and all the mystery behind it, even the functions were a mystery to him. Last time, the idea to use it as a storage space had come to him naturally.

"Come out."

Instead of turning on the lamp, Tylem called out to the ball of light, which lit up the room the moment it revealed itself from his clothing. For some reason, nobody could see it apart from him.

"Retrieve."

Taking out the thick ancient book from the ball of light, Tylem had already familiarized himself with the ball of light's storage aspect over this period of time. Despite using it many times, the sight still gave him a rush of adrenaline.

Resting itself atop of Tylem's shoulders, the ball of light also read through the cultivation manual with him. Flipping through the contents, he imprinted the most important parts in his mind.

Qi Building, the first stage of cultivation. During this stage, one would temper their body enough that it was able to freely send and manipulate Qi throughout the body, reaching the corner of every tissue.

To even step onto the very first stage of cultivation, one needed to have the necessary innate talent. Without it, cultivation would be impossible, so the vast majority of humans were unable to ever cultivate.

Qi could be found everywhere. Even on Earth, a place with very low Qi levels, there were still several extremely talented individuals who could sense the Qi around them.

However, without a detailed cultivation guide that explained the entire process such as the circulation and refinement process, the world of cultivation would continue to elude them.

In this unfair world, talent wasn't the sole important thing; the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity brought about by fortuitous encounters was perhaps even more vital. Staring at the manual, Tylem's mind started to open up, becoming aware of the unseen Qi around him.

Once its existence was known and definite, Qi would unveil itself before the person. If the user was talented enough and confident to the point that there was not a single shroud of doubt regarding the existence of Qi, their eyes would begin to see a new world, a bizarre, hidden land that was once foreign to them would appear.

In this world without visible cultivators, how often would it be that someone could be absolutely certain of the existence of something never seen before?

For those select few who could see Qi and spoke of their tales, their words would be seen as those of a rambling madman. To those who believed in science, it was unavoidable.

Indeed, if Tylem had not experienced the unfathomable event of reincarnation, he would have never been certain, such was the programmed human mind!

Like a sudden flash of light unlocking the sealed door to a brand-new world, Tylem's vision began to unfold the hidden mysteries that lied within.

The distorting Qi around him was so thin, but Tylem could see it, the tiny strands that danced about. In the blink of an eye, he had finally advanced onto the very first step of cultivation, sensing the Qi around him.

For others, even those talented geniuses, the process shouldn't have been so simple. The sky-high talent required to do so with such ease was unimaginable. However, Tylem was unaware of the amazing miracle he had just created.

"This… so this is Qi?"

Trying to grasp onto the seemingly playful Qi with his bare hands, Tylem's clear eyes shone. Perhaps, in spite of everything, he wasn't so disinterested in the world after all.

Beyond the evil and filth of society, there was such a beautiful creation?

The trepidation in Tylem's heart was indescribable—before him was something so beautiful that it made him doubt his entire dark outlook on life. It was comfortable. The sight made him so comfortable.

Sitting cross-legged on his bed, Tylem attempted to absorb the Qi. The contents of the {Soaring Above the Great Dragons} manual came to mind, and everything was clear to him.

"Controlling the flow…" Tylem exhaled, his eyes brightening. Utilizing the special method of breathing from the manual, the numerous strands of Qi began to slowly move toward him.

The process was much harder than it looked, and an hour soon passed as Tylem struggled with absorbing even a single strand of the evasive Qi. However, practice makes perfect.

Breathing in and out, Tylem discerned the thin strand of Qi before him, and he focused all his effort on it. Beads of sweat dripped from his pale forehead as his heartbeat continued to rise.

Finally, the strand of Qi seemed to figure out that it was hopeless as it flailed about before helplessly entering Tylem's breathing circulation. Now, it was the refinement process.

It was crucial not to make a mistake here, or everything would be for naught. Tylem's mouth was coarse and dry. Right now, he wanted nothing more than a glass of water, but he steered away from his desires.

The strand of Qi flowed toward his Dantian, passing through the various meridians. It repeated this process numerous times before finally settling inside his Dantian in defeat.

Slowly, time passed, and Tylem's body gradually became accustomed to the transformation.

"Cough!"

Rubbing his mouth, Tylem's lips crawled upward into an arch; his body was too weak. Even though he had monstrous talent, his body could not keep up. There were no treasures to support him, and he could depend on nothing but himself.

Right now, his body was that of a weak child, even absorbing a single strand of Qi was worthy of praise. If he pushed himself even further, it would become dangerous.

It was possible that his body would explode being unable to withstand the fierce, violent Qi.

Nevertheless, his frail body was now undergoing great change. Having succeeded, Tylem could feel it best. Despite being young, his muscles were now brimming with explosive strength, even his scarred skin had become more beautiful.

Tylem was about to examine the changes to his body in more depth, but a soft knock on his bedroom door interrupted his plans. Swiftly settling himself down, he called out, "Come in."

Seeing the little shadow near the door, Tylem knitted his brow at the sight of his sister. The two had become closer during this week, and he was now no stranger to her.

"Little Hatchling? No, I mean Big Bro…" The beautiful girl stood clumsily outside the door in her loose pink pajamas while tightly holding onto her brown bear with both hands.

"Yes, Lynne?" Tylem wondered what his sister came to his room for.

"I-I'm... Lynne is scared." Looking down, Lynne pitifully stated; she had the appearance of a frightened little kitten, and it caused one to feel heartache for her.

Tylem could predict what his sister was going to say next, and she, of course, followed through.

"Can Lynne sleep with Big Bro?"
