6 THE DREAM.

I woke up all sweaty and scared. I felt exhausted. I looked around. Left to right no one in sight with just the sun high up in the sky trying to burn my skin. I got up as I felt dizzy. Shutting my eyes I walked into the bathroom as I found my way to the toilet seat and I sat quietly on it, trying to remember everything about the dream. I opened my eyes and the dizziness is gone. I looked at the bathroom looking all clean. white tiles on the floor, white tiles on the walls, the black WC which I sat on just at the other end that is if you're at the door. There's a bath tub on the left with different types and sizes of shower oil and gel on the small basement close to the tub and a shower stand by your right. This place is as big as a master bedroom itself...got up as I had my bath. A cold bath cause I feel my soul needs it too.

As the water touch my body I saw steam leave my body...literally. and I chose to use the shower cause I feel it'll wash away my mixed feelings at the moment. "Who is that girl?" I started to question myself. "okay so if that man in the dream is her father that means the girl is me and the man is my father and the boy that died is or was my brother." I heard a knock on the main door to my room. I still took my time to shower. I stopped a while though enjoying the coolness of the water running. "so who is the man in the house right now and why did he say he's my father? ..." I got confused. I tried to rack my brain again it didn't work so I got out of the shower after scrubbing my body with the strawberry shower gel and a pink sponge like five times over..

I stepped into a room as big as two sitting rooms, from the door view; there's a massive black bed stand and a white sheeted foam on it on the left side of the windows and on the right was a very big and finely made black wardrobe.Three dark purple throw pillows and five large white pillows and a wall painted lilac. A black center table with plastic sunflowers in a lilac color vase on it... the sun gave more than enough light I think. I felt it was too much. The floor had a natural kind of 3D flooring... grasses and flowers, trees, waterfall, fishes etc.

Where am I?... I wiped my body dry as I dropped the lilac coloured curtains. Silky I must say. hmmm.

I opened to the wardrobe. amazed at what I saw. Everything a girl wants. I wore a red dress and as I combed my thick curly hair, making it stand like an afro that it is. I was about to open the door when I thought to myself. "theres no way I'm going out like this" no fucking mirror in a girl's room?

I tied my hair up into an afro bun finally I'm not doing the 60s shit and I wonder what my light skinned face is like at the moment... I walked out of the room and I looked left and then right before I used the stairs. Everything is so strange. everything thing had the colors white, black, dark purple and lilac. I walked to the kitchen and saw two men talking and eating something. One is my supposed dad and the other is a cassocked man... I smiled...not sure if it's genuine.

Dad walked away from him as he walked toward's me. "meet my daughter Liv" he said cheerily and continued as he placed his right hand on my shoulder"meet Mr Christian, a brother of your mother's " looking at his brown eyes and fair skin I wondered what color his underwear will be. I smiled "welcome...Mr Christian ". Mr Christian laughed and said with his hands wide open anticipating a hug "I thought you'd call me uncle" I didnt reply to that. I just smiled and ... my dad was about to say something when I cut in "please can I speak to you for a moment? I promise I won't take your time" I asked straightforwardly. Dad said ok and followed me to the sitting room.

We sat down and I told him all about the dream. His facial expression changed as he looked over my head. I turned to see what he was looking at but nothing I turned again to see him smiling. He looks like a Louisian. I guess. I must look beautiful right? cause he's handsome

See, the thing is I lost my memory. For six months now. I can't remember anything... I've flipped through pictures and books, gone to places that might trigger the memories. Well nothing.

My dad said he's tried everything possible and also invited all my friends to see if anything will change well nothing. There's no mirror in the house. nothing to show me my face.

I'm twenty three years old now and all I keep dreaming about is myself. Myself as a child. I even tried to remember the last time I was normal before now. Each time I wake up it's like I'm seeing this place for the first time... forgetting whatever it is that happened, i.e yesterday, I can't remember anything that happened. What is even yesterday?

Back to earth...

My dad held my hand and assured me all will be well and that I'll get my memory back. In his words "you'll remember everything and don't forget everything will be fine" he kissed my fore head and I had to ask "no mirrors in the house?" "I'll get you one soon " he replied. I nodded.

In a few minutes dad went to talk to Mr Christian again and then I excused myself saying I'll like to go upstairs.

My dad and my uncle walked upstairs just right behind me. I entered my room and closed the door half way. I picked up a gold sandals. The moment I heard dad's door close I opened my door and shut it quietly as I tiptoed back to the kitchen. I made sure to lock the door to my room.

I went outside the house through the back door... with my bare feet touching the grass. Taking in the beautiful scene. Rose plants by the sides of the house. A small ginger farm. As I walked to the front of the house I saw a very big tree with flowers surrounding the sides of the compound, different colors all were roses. I wore my sandals quickly and ran out of the compound since the padlock was not jammed in. I walked on a street without people just houses. This place looks strange. really strange. This is not even Nigeria where I come from. this is a foreign land. I walked for about an hour I guess. before a black SUV drove to stop right in front of me as I took few steps back immediately.
