2 Chapter 2

He went on to look around the room he was currently in, the room was dimly lit and had stone for walls, a bed, bookshelves, a table and chair. He walked towards the bookshelves to find that the books were written in English, at a glance most books seemed to be related to magic or the supernaturals, eventually he found a book called "New Lands" the author of the book is named Merlin the Wiseman.

It detailed the current world they were in. New Lands is the name of the place they were in, the world would randomly summon creatures from other worlds and have them inhabit this world, if the summoned is powerful, it will leave them be but if they were weak, the world like send a task and give powers to those who completed their task. Many Ideas, Laws, energies and systems coexisted in this world. Example, the magic system is said to be most confusing system ever since every world has their own version of what magic is supposed be and do, there is also different effects of magic and how it is supposed to take effect. There is also time and space which has many different theories and they all somehow coexist in this world. Another example is the idea of heaven or hell, some worlds have both, some world have only one but not the other while some has non of either. It is extremely confusing how this world can exist and even merlin in the book mentioned that he still hasn't figured out how this world works.

The book went on to explain about the area's surrounding the cave which was where we was summoned to, West of the cave is the village, it's previous name was azure village.

North of the cave was a collection of other species village, they didn't have much interaction mostly due to being unable to communicate with each other.

East is towards the dragon's abode, it is were the dragons and their kin stay, it is considered a danger zone by pretty much everyone, there is literally no reason to go there unless your task involved dragons or their kin and even if you somehow completed your task, you will be hunted down by the rest of their race.

South lead to grasslands going further down you will reach the swamp and eventually the sea.

It hasn't been confirmed if the land we are standing on is a continent or just a large island.

By now John had a pretty good idea of what world he was thrown into, so he went to check the table and found 2 old book, they were titled "My Autobiography" and "Tasks and Rewards", John picked "My Autobiography" first.

It detailed Merlin's life, pre-summon, he was just like any other normal human from earth and he lead a pretty boring life, post-summon, like everyone he was confused when he was summoned and eventually completed his task and got his reward, Omni-Mana, his early adventures consisted of him traveling around and documenting New Land and eventually created that first book, eventually he got betrayed by others and secluded himself after going on a rampage and started to devote his later adventures to delving into magic, mana and energies and he eventual became known as Wiseman because of his knowledge and research of magic, mana and energies. What happened to him and the previous inhabitants was unknown but there was speculation on Merlin's part that previous group of humans eventually died off and a new batch of humans would be selected after a certain amount of time and that it might happen to his group too. Every batch would come from the same race and they would be continuously supplied with new blood for sometime before something happened to stop that flow but there was no evidence to it.

First thing John learned from this book was to not trust people in this new world, god knows if he would ever meet someone from his previous life and even if he did, it would most likely pretty bad since he was a former slave who managed more slaves.

The second thing he learned was not to rely too much on just one source of power and to expand if possible, as detailed by Merlin in his latter life, there were many situations where you can't rely strictly on magic as there were some items or power that nullified mana or stopped someone from casting magic, Merlin went onto explain that being both adept at long range and being a close combatant was no longer an option or choice, you have to be good at both if you wanted to survive in this world.

After that he went onto read "Tasks and Rewards" The book said that the tasks and rewards someone get is completely different from another and there hasn't been a straight duplicate task or reward but there were some task and reward that were similar to each other, it then went onto detail a lot of tasks and the rewards and their effect that someone would get, it ranged from Easy to Hell and each time the difficultly increased, the shorter the amount page it got, John found Merlin's Task and Reward under Hell, his task was to decipher magic within a certain amount of time, Merlin managed decipher 7 different magic, fire, water, wind, earth, sonar, metal and lightning, albeit the last 3 was very rudimentary in mastery and the reward he got was Omni-Mana, it gave him the ability to manipulate and utilize different elements by changing his mana and if he managed to comprehend and decipher it enough he was also able to use different energies like chi or swordsman's energies, of course the latter 2 were done in his later years.

The amount of Hell tasks and rewards that were listed was enough to fit 1 page from front to back and they had varying tasks and rewards but they definitely fitted the name of Hell, ranging from stealing dragon's eggs to causing genocide of an entire species but the task that was given to John was very vague, <find materials and make an object> what the hell did this mean? What was he supposed to do? Others had a goal to complete but his gave him an infinite number to ask himself, "what material was I supposed to find? Could it be anything? Even sands and stones? And how do I make an object from those material? What is an object? What is definition of an object? Sword? Staff? Shovel?"

After having a headache over his own task he decided to read the book again to see if there was something similar to his task and he found some answers, under the varies difficulties some gotten a task to gather specific materials to forge a weapon or tool, someone got a task to collect fire related items and could forge either a sword or staff, while another one had to collect very amount of listed item to make a specific weapon.
