Arya's Determination

Anya and Sheila were both frozen when they heard what Harold just said. They couldn't imagine that the happy, fun-loving kid just outside with them would become a cold ruthless killer if not controlled.

"T-This can't be true. I w-won't let Blake become a ruthless killer."Sheila said with tears forming in her eyes.

"The script you are reading must be wrong." Sheila tried everything she could to refute what Harold had just said. She had nurtured Blake like her own son so to know that he could become evil in the future was heartbreaking for Sheila. Anya held Sheila's hand to comfort her.

Harold felt a little bad as he was the one who broke the news. He stood up from his chair and walked toward the window. Outside the window, he could see his son and daughter showing Blake the training pieces of equipment.

'If I train him as assuming that this kid will have the same temperament after a few years then I would be creating a powerful soul master but if what the scroll is saying is right then I might end up creating a demon....no not a demon but the devil himself.' Harold thought when his wife broke his train of thought and said

"Honey, the things written can't be all correct. There must be a mistake. It is such an ancient scroll."

Harold couldn't help but sigh as he said "Yes but by following one of these scrolls did some people create dark mana. At first, these scrolls were considered just a fantasy of a lunatic. But after the first time, dark mana was successfully created by using the instructions given here and suddenly these scrolls became a mythical treasure. Organizations were created just to find them. For centuries things have cooled down and many people have forgotten about the existence of dark mana. I reason I recognized it was because I was fascinated by the concept of dark mana from my childhood. These scrolls are only a copy of a fraction of the scrolls on dark mana."

As Harold was saying all this he suddenly stopped and looked back toward Anya with a frown on his face. Sheila and Anya were both confused by this. They both were soul masters as well. Although not as strong as Harold but still strong enough to scan their surroundings for any hidden spies. They both couldn't detect anyone so Sheila looked at the frowning Harold and asked.

"What's the matter? Why did you stop talking?"

"I just said all this in a single breath. I have not known about Blake's soul spirit for more than 24 hours and I just told you that dark mana was something that has fascinated me since my childhood."

Sheila got more confused as these things were all correct but they were not making any sense. She was about to ask but Anya said something that answered all her questions.

"Honey, you are worried that your curiosity and fascination may end up becoming an obsession. You may even hurt yourself or Blake in the process but I assure you I won't let you fall in the deep end. We will go with this together. You won't be alone in this." Anya said as she held Harold's hands. Feeling the support of his wife and then at the nodding Sheila who had a small smile on her face, Harold's confidence came back and he had a relaxed expression.

KNOCK...

KNOCK...

All three heads turned toward the door. Anya asked in a loud voice.

"What is it?"

"Preparations for lunch have been made. Should we start setting the table?" the voice of their maid could be heard from outside the door.

"Yes start serving the food and also call in the children from the equipment room." Anya ordered.

"Yess Ma'am" the maid said and her receding footsteps could be heard by the three adults. As the sound of the footsteps stopped all three sighed.

Harold looked at Anya and said "I will have this room soundproofed today itself. Let's go have lunch." Anya and Sheila both nodded and the trio left the room.

They walked into the dining hall of their mansion. Even though it was the mansion of the patriarch of the clan, it was relatively simpler. There were paintings of old men with their soul spirits hung on the walls. Every soul spirit were of the fire attribute. When the trio entered they saw that Simon and Arya were showing Blake the paintings and explaining something.

"What are you talking about Simon?" Anya asked her son. Simon turned back and seeing his mom he quickly sat at the table followed by Arya and Blake and said "Mom I was talking about the paintings that are here. Blake was asking why everyone was old and why wasn't dad's painting here."

Hearing this Anya chuckled and looked at Blake. She said "These are all the previous patriarchs of the Blaze clan. The reason they look old in these paintings is that they all had these paintings made when they became a 7-star soul master. By the time Harold here becomes a 7-star soul master even he might get this old and that's when his painting will be made and this will continue with his successors as well."

"I don't want to become a patriarch. I have seen dad drowning in the pile of paperwork and doing boring stuff rather than some meaningful research." Simon said.

Arya quickly stood up and crossed her hands across her chest and with a proud face she said "Hmph Nerd...I will be the next Patriarch and become a 7-star soul master even before dad gets old."

Hearing Arya say this her mother Anya couldn't help but giggle. Simon couldn't hold it and just started laughing and said

"Haha...Arya, do you even know how hard it is to become a 7-star soul master?"

"I will wack you on your head four eyes." Arya said gnashing her teeth.

Harold was a little embarrassed that his kids were this unruly but he could only adore those 2 monsters of his and then looked at the third soon-to-be monster sitting beside them with a smile on his face.

"Stop embarrassing the house in front of guests both of you. Let's get started with lunch. After that Blake's training will start." Harold said making Blake excitedly clench his fists.
