4 Ground Floor Boss: Giant Slime

Rex's body falls to the ground on its knees, as his soul is hurled back to the entrance door.

I could feel that pain, he thought to himself, that blue copy... Was that its soul? If that was its soul, that would mean that souls can attack souls. Does that extend to weapons that I brought out in the soul world?

As a soul, Rex gets up, particles that once belonged to his soul began flowing out of the spot he got hit. Rex takes a look at it, but shrugs it off, "I need to get back into my body."

Giant Slime backs off from Rex's body, it's soul out of sight, Rex rushes toward his body and jumps into it like a tired freezing child coming home from school, jumping straight into their bed. Within seconds he gets back up and grips his sword. He takes multiple breaths and thinks back to his lessons with his father.

"Pay attention to your surroundings..."

"Know your enemy before you fight them..."

"Never let fear take you over after an unknown factor is introduced..."

Rex takes note of the circular design of the Boss Area, many pillars were evenly spread out on the outskirts of the Area. It was dark on the outskirts, but light in the middle of the Area, where Giant Slime laid, waiting for another attack from Rex.

Rex begins his dash toward the slime, he performs two Air Slashes while sprinting. The slashes cut a chunk of the slime off. The chunk dissolves into the air as the area of the slime, where the chunk was apart of, glows with a green particles.

"That's it," Rex speeds up, once in a certain distance he leaps and lunges with his sword, aiming at the heart. He does not pierce through enough of the slime to hit the heart. However with his sword inside the slime, he launches another Air Slash. This time he is able to hit the heart, leaving a small wound on it. Rex backs up and runs behind a pillar, looking back he is able to see the slime becoming fully healed, but its heart still damaged.

As he runs to a pillar, Giant Slime forms arms throwing many punches, but none of them could reach or hit Rex. Once behind a pillar he looks back at the slime, congratulating himself on his small accomplishment.

"I shouldn't be celebrating yet, I only got one hit in. The battle isn't over yet."

As long as I can get it to regenerate, that will give me a period of being able to attack its heart. With enough hits it should explode, it should not take too long. The only thing I am scared of is its soul. How can it bring it out like that? I would testing it out now, but I want to finish this!

Rex steps out from the pillar, almost like a reflex the slime leaps into the air, forming arms on both sides of its body, extending them, sticking them to two opposing pillars.

This one seems to have some kind of intelligence.

However... Its left its arms wide open for an attack. That is a dumb move!

"Air Slash!"

Rex slashes the air, the air cuts through Giant Slime's right arm with ease. I must have gotten faster, Rex thinks as he attempts another Air Slash as Giant Slime hangs from the left of the Boss Area.

*SLICE*

Another clean hit, Rex thought as he rushes toward the falling Giant Slime. Now it will regenerate which will give me a perfect amount of time to get a deep cut into its heart.

Rex raises his sword and prepares another slash with it, but-

*WHAM*

Rex's soul has been knocked out of him once again, but only the upper half. He was able to still move his legs, but nothing from the waist up. "Damn you!" The soul created a perfectly new arm that came crashing down onto Rex. With swift movements, Rex opens his inventory and brings out his sword.

Due to his fast movements he fumbled with his sword, dropping it. "Shit!" Instinctively he runs away, his upper half of his soul still outside of his body, he miraculously dodges Giant Slime's attack. "I need to get my sword back," Rex begins running laps around Giant Slime, dodging extended attacks after attacks.

Giant Slime's soul becomes faster as time passes. I'm guessing as its physical body regenerates it's soul becomes faster and stronger, Rex thinks as he fully enters his body. I need to attack before it becomes too powerful, but I can't do much without my sword. As Rex thinks this he remembers a lesson from his father, to pay attention to his surroundings. He also remembers the child who helped him earlier, who threw a pebble through his stomach.

Rex furiously looks around for a pebble while Giant Slime's soul continues to throw punches after punches. One punch manages to graze Rex's left leg making him fall to the ground. Once he finishes sliding on the ground he sees a pebble and grips it in his hand, he lays on the ground face down, waiting for his moment.

While waiting he focuses his soul into the pebble, he could feel a source of energy engulfing the pebble. As he does this, Giant Slime's soul crept closer to him and began dragging his soul out of his body by his foot. Rex forces his upper half to turn quick and throw the pebble with all his strength at Giant Slime's heart.

It did not pierce through enough to actually hit Giant Slime's heart, but it was enough to somewhat damage the soul which looked to have reflected back onto Giant Slime's actual body. It's soul retracted back, Rex took this opportunity to he retract his leg back into this body and make a break for his sword. His Soul World sword seemed too have vanished while his real sword laid on the ground by Giant Slime.

Once at the sword he promptly unleashes three Air Slashes at the recovering Giant Slime. The first Air Slash aiming at the spot where his Soul World pebble pierced, the second at the same spot. The third one aiming at a random spot away from the main wound. Rex lunges at the main wound, he is able to go deeper and deeper into Giant Slime, deep enough to directly harm it's heart.

Even though Rex had to hold his breath while inside the Giant Slime, he still somehow breathed in and exhaled.

"AIR SLASH! AIR SLASH! AIR SLASH! AIR SLASH! AIR SLASH! AIR SLASH!!!!"

Rex sends out a flurry of Air Slashes all cutting deeply into Giant Slime's heart, it's insides glow even brighter than before and forces Rex out of its body. "ITS GONNA BLOW," Rex rushes to go behind a pillar, but while running he is struck in the back.

His soul and body go flying.
